So this is going to be a mixed review. Let’s do the good stuff first. This was our first visit here and we went during Christmas. They weather was pretty disappointing but everybody tried their best.
The staff is fantastic. They can’t do enough for you and when asked anything, they’re genuinely friendly and helpful. Whether from housekeeping, the wait staff, security, or in the shops - the employees are eager to help and made our stay enjoyable.
We booked large rooms (2 sections - a large bedroom connected to a large living area with a futon style sofa bed) and had “butler” service. Nicky and Nicholas were fabulous. They were on duty from 7-7 and communicated with us thru WhatsApp. They helped with several issues which arose when we needed them, especially finding children’s Tylenol on Christmas Day. Fantastic help. Can’t say enough about them.
The facility is your typical mega-hotel layout. Multiple 4 story buildings wrapped around a couple of pools and bordering an easily-accessible, well maintained beach. Plenty of lounges and umbrellas - we rented cabanas to make it a little easier. Kinda expensive but - if the weather had cooperated - they would’ve been helpful for the hot sun. They we helpful as the rains came down though.
The grounds are extensive - and that’s the problem. There isn’t a sign, a placard, a pointer or any way to get around and find the restaurants, shops, snack bars. Nothing on a wall to find the elevators or exit doors. We asked others - and we were approached by other families, for help finding the lobby or other critical spots. We couldn’t understand why this wasn’t a part of the property.
The other disappointment was the food. We went with an all-inclusive package and the meals are pretty bland and seemingly pre-made. The pool side restaurant food we had really disappointed. Same with the buffet. The Italian restaurant was better (service was still awesome) but the portions were small. All restaurants (except one) don’t open until 6:00 so if you need to feed the kids early you’re outta luck. We did use room service for some snacks and the food came very quickly by a friendly guy.
All in all - it’s a good spot for families but the food will probably disappoint. And try to get a map to help get around the property!

My husband and I just got back from a 5 day vacation. All in all, we had a wonderful time at the resort. The staff are all very friendly (some of the hostesses at the restaurants were not always but I suppose they have a difficult job pleasing everyone). The housekeeping staff were excellent. We enjoyed the variety of restaurants - I'd say the food is good, wouldn't say it is excellent but we did enjoy our meals. We were happy that there was nightly entertainment as usually, night life on the islands can be rather quiet. We enjoyed Bunny Rose, the Bob Marley show, the MJ tribute. A few suggestions - would like a few more healthy options for lunch - say a Yogurt parfait (even from the coffee places), a turkey sandwich, a BLT sandwich. I would've liked a soft-serve ice cream machine, and the mini bar could offer a few more options - perhaps, juice, diet soda, nuts/almonds. It would be a fun place to go with our adult children (and new grandson) as well as with other couples or a girls trip.

Hyatt Ziva is a beautiful resort with friendly staff! I loved the cabanas by the pool and the beach! My room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. There's a nice variety of drinks and snacks in the room. (Although no true Diet Coke as we know it in America. They offer Coke No Sugar, and this is what you'll get if you ask for a Diet Coke. Not a huge deal, just something to know.) I had a great view of the courtyard from my balcony and it was so nice to relax on the queen-sized lounger on the balcony. However, there is loud entertainment until 10pm each night in the section where I stayed. Next time, I would stay in the section by the pool so I could go to sleep earlier. The pool area was very quiet in the evenings, so this would be good for families with small children who have an early bedtime. The food was fine overall - some things I really enjoyed and others were just okay. I enjoyed grabbing a quick pastry from the coffee shop each morning. Throughout the resort, they have bottled drinking water available, which is so nice because it is hot in Jamaica! While the resort grounds are beautiful, the rooms and common spaces could use a cosmetic refresh, but I think that's coming. I felt safe here and enjoyed my stay overall. I would definitely stay here again and would love to come back with my family.

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Ziva Montego Bay, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Upon check-in, I was delighted to receive a room upgrade that featured two balconies with a stunning beach view—an incredible touch that made the stay even more special.
The food at the resort stood out, with the buffet restaurant, Choicez, offering excellent cuisine. While the specialty restaurants were good, none quite matched the variety and flavor I found at the buffet. Beach service was another highlight; the attentive attendants ensured my drinks were replenished, and fresh towels were always available. The beach itself was beautiful and well-maintained, making it a relaxing and enjoyable space to spend time.
The staff at the Hyatt Ziva were incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive to every detail, enhancing the overall experience. I would happily return in a heartbeat. The only downsides were that some of the food could have been warmer, and I would have loved to see a small water park or sprinkler area for my grandkids to enjoy. Despite these minor issues, it's a fantastic family-friendly resort at a great value. Highly recommended!

The service at this resort is unmatched! Our butlers Jahmarley, Toni-Ann, and Kerrian were spectacular and went the extra mile for us. My husband left his phone on the private bus transfer from the airport and they were relentless in trying to contact the bus company/driver to get it back. After a few days the phone was found and return to us at the resort. The next day, my daughter left her tablet at the buffet. Our server Crisan found it and kept it safe for us until we returned several hours later when we discovered we no longer had it. The grounds were well maintained, all the staff was polite. Our room (1 bedroom oceanfront suite) was stellar with a huuuuge balcony that spanned the width of the entire unit. The beach areas were a bit small with limited huts/umbrellas but overall clean with minimal seaweed and calm waters. Overall the resort wasn’t too overwhelming and food was reliably good (especially the jerk hut, the Italian restaurant, and calypzo which had a steak that rivaled some top tier restaurants in the states). This was the perfect trip for my husband, 2 kids (ages 1 and 3) and myself. The location and brand recognition is what attracted us initially but the service is what will make us come back!

My husband and I stayed on the Ziva side for 6 days at the end of February. Being on the family side vs the adult-only side was no problem for us since we were able to be on both sides. Most of the restaurants and better entertainment are on the Ziva side anyway. The property/grounds as a whole is very nice and easy to get around. (it is not as big as the map makes it seem) That being said, the buildings could use some major updates. At first glance you can tell the property is old, and then when you really take a look (especially in the room) it looks like they just tried to cover everything in thick layers of paint to make up for the room's age. This was not a deal breaker for us as we don't spend a lot of time in the room anyway, but it was a little disappointing. We stayed in an ocean view room and it was very comfortable for the 2 of us.
We thought the food overall was good, not excellent, but good. The specialty restaurants of course were much better than the buffet and we were able to enjoy all 5 of the specialty restaurants for dinner. We were not disappointed with any of them.
The hotel was almost fully booked when we stayed and it was extremely hard to get good spots by the pool. I'm not sure how, but most of the chairs were saved by 7am, so that was frustrating. However we never had a problem finding spots at the beach. That being said, the beach was not impressive. The family beach is smaller but the water is nicer and calmer. The adult beach was very wavy and there was a lot of seaweed, therefore we didn't spend a lot of time in the ocean.
I think the best part about this hotel is the staff. Almost everyone we encountered was very pleasant (with a few exceptions). The servers were constantly checking on us to see if we needed anything and we felt very taken care of. Shout out to Shakira at the pool who greeted us by name every time she saw us and was a ray of sunshine.
Overall we enjoyed our stay. I'm not sure that we would come back, but we thought it was good value compared to some other properties.

First time in Jamaica, needed a vacation from professional work life. Took wife and 4 yr old son. Purpose was a quiet, relaxing time with the family. Here are my thoughts after a week in an ocean view suite.
1) checking in: extremely sloppy 2) hotel rooms: need maintenance - bland decor. They definitely do NOT pay attention to detail. Hotel rooms are not quiet - halls have no sound dampening. You can hear someone sneeze 50m away in the hall 3) beach area: very nice! Clean - Pools, very nice 4) food: hit or miss. Buffet:2/5, Asian:4/5, French 3/5, Italian 4.5/5 - Small menus. Overall ok food and service. 5) management: not good, but they try if and when you can get ahold of them.
***We had TWO instances of people coming in our room when we had a Do Not Disturb sign on our door.*** I had to get stern with mgmt.
6) relaxation in rooms was poor. Bumping music til 10p. Even the “quiet” room areas were not very quiet because the main stage basically bumps sounds to all areas.
We tipped plenty and don’t consider ourselves pains in the asses. My wife and I are professionals and make plenty so we tipped very handsomely. I say this because we were not Karen’s here and not complaining for any reason. We do have higher expectations because we paid decently for this trip…and overall the trip was good, but not great. I’ve been to plenty of all inclusive resorts, mostly in Mexico. After this first trip to Jamaica, I don’t think I will return. They just missed the mark. You get a much better experience in Mexico, friendly and better service, and quieter rooms (assuming you don’t go where the college kids go) - every morning I could hear employees in the hall chatting, coughing, sneezing, talking in the halls around 6-7a.
Advice to executive mgmt - invest in training here. Put more into maintenance and if you find rooms damaged, charge people to ensure the next family enjoys the room. Remind your employees that families generally want to relax and families with little ones can’t be listening to bumping music late in the night. Perhaps you are trying to be everything to everyone - Don’t do that.

We paid for a room for 3 people but was offered a room with a king bed, they brought in a rolling bed which the mattress was horrible and we had to send back and use the regular sofa(not a sofa bed). Don't even try to take a shower because the water is either Arizona hot or Nebraska cold, they sent a tech to pretend to fix it with no luck! The $80/night extra for an ocean view gives a view only when you stand in the balcony on the furthest corner and you get a little glimpse, the crew was visibly unhappy to serve us, and would take one hour before they offered us a drink on the beach this was the most horrible experience and we would never go back again.

This is a beautiful property with a very courteous staff. The food in some restaurants is excellent. The breakfast is very good. The rooms need a refresh - and there is a horrible very heavy deodorizer being pumped throughout the hallways - it gives me a horrible headache. ( smells like the cheap air freshener you get at the car wash) I have asthma and it’s hard to breathe. The gift shop does not have good things to buy. For an all inclusive they do a great job! The room service took 2 hours and 20 minutes to come. In my opinion this is mot a 5 star experience but closer to 4 stars. The grounds are beautiful! Still a great trip but if you are looking for ultimate luxury this is not truly 5 stars.

During my stay at the Hyatt Ziva in Montego Bay, I encountered several issues that needed immediate attention. One of the shower heads in my room was broken, and instead of complaining, I opted to use the other shower. Additionally, the room temperature never dropped below 77°F at night. When the toilet stopped flushing, I called for assistance. Engineering discovered a broken internal part and attempted to address the AC issue but mentioned they had been experiencing multiple problems on that side of the hotel. They offered to bring me a fan as a temporary solution. Paying so much for a room and being offered a fan as if this was a discount hotel is unacceptable. When I called downstairs to report these issues, I was transferred to the front desk, but no one answered after multiple rings.
I had spent a substantial amount of money on this stay, reserving two rooms for myself and my guest, and the lack of quality was disconcerting. I was deeply disappointed as this hotel, which used to be one of my favorites, had now become one of the last I would recommend. I was there for my anniversary and expected a much better experience.
Additionally, I noticed that the quality of the drinks was quite poor. Many of them, including frozen drinks and sodas, were watered down. This was a recurring issue that needed to be addressed.
The customer service was also subpar. While dining at the buffet, the staff rarely checked on us to see if we needed any assistance or drinks. One staff member, when asked for orange juice during breakfast, simply pointed to where it was and told me to get it myself. This level of service was unacceptable, especially considering I spent nearly $6,000 on my stay for two rooms. For a hotel that charges such high rates, the service needed significant improvement. This was, by far, the worst experience I have had, and I will not be returning.
