We visited here mid week for an evening meal with friends and found the food to be excellent and the staff very friendly and helpfull. A log fire was burning and the atmosphere was great, would definitely go back again.

Seven of us stayed here, two joined us for dinner on one night. A busload of returning racegoers arrived just in time to stall our meal, but it was worth waiting for. The lamb Henry was tender and flavoursome and a delight to eat. I followed that with sticky toffee pudding and ice cream - again, as I had that...

A good mix of traditional rural with modern popular food choices. Friendly staff and a good menu choice. Was a busy night and they had a good few large tables, and a coach party who turned up... which did impact the speed of food. We weren't in a rush and when the food arrived it was great. There is accommodation...

What a lovely welcome we received here from Andy and Allison. We stayed in the hotel too and the rooms are lovely. Food was excellent and the real ale well looked after. Looking forward to another visit sometime. Best value in the area!

We went for lunch with alfie the dog. Dog friendly pub with good bar staff namely Joanne. Very good at her job and joint owner very attentive. Would now recommend this for food. Well done to the new owners.

Sunday roast beef - Y Puds and vegies. Excellent - no microwaves here - other main courses - asparagus quiche + real chips; delightful - & 'black pudding salad' superb. Small menu screams fresh, local & not microwave/freezer. This is a 5 star dales pub. great staff & top tasty food. Sticky toffee pudding & crème Brule - perfect end....

My wife and I called in here after a day in Harrogate and had not been for several years. It won't be long until we're back. The new owners have tastefully furnished the bar and dining areas, but having witnessed the Sunday roast beefs coming out we changed our original order. Wow we were far from disappointed it was exceptional....

My wife and I called in for lunch. We both ordered a light bite sandwich. When the food arrived the portion size was far more than a light bite. The sandwich was very nice and the chips were homemade, which makes a change from normal frozen ones. We were both very full after our lunch. The food was excellent value...

Drove past this pub for years and haven't stopped. What an amazing Sunday lunch we had I can highly recommend this pub, definitely home cooked, the beef was cooked to perfection and the veg was done beautifully, for pudding the apple crumble was home cooked so was the custard.

This is a pub on the main road but well worth looking for. We called into here after a trip up the York moors and didn't fancy the M6 stop start traffic. Are we pleased we did. The food was excellent and the sticky toffee pudding was one of the best and I don’t normally go for a pudding but...
