A GREAT location - staying high on the slopes of Etna surrounded by lava flows at 1910 meters above sea level was certainly unique. The views day and night were fantastic and after the tourists all leave around 5PM its incredibly peaceful. We had a nicely renovated comfortable ensuite room which was of a decent 3* hotel standard with good...

From the beginning on we were served very unfriendly. Main course was served 7 minutes after antipasto. We were still chewing. Food was cold and not tasty at all. Prices are far too steep considering food's quality. All in all, we felt like hosts wanted to get rid of us as fast as possible.

If you are going up to the crater on Etna, after a hard walk, in the relative chill of the volcano summit it is nice to get back down to civilisation and have a warm and good quality meal. Set among the tourist focussed outlets at the base of the summit where you get the cable car the Rifugio Sapienza...

I spent one night to rest in the hotel and I found the location amazing. even though the guys who work there didn's really speak English I was happy with service. The breakfast was great and staying there gave me a chance to walk in the morning to some of the craters without the crowd and tourists.

This used to be the moutain refuge on Etna but it's now a lovel alpine style hotel with excellent simple wood clad rooms and nice marble bathrooms. Breakfast is a simpl buffet which finishes earlier than you might expect, lunch can be had in the bar below the hotel and dinner (pizza, pasta etc) is served in the restaurant and...

The Refugio is conveniently located next to the cable car that brings you up the mountain. So that is a plus. I'm not very enthusiastic about the hotel itself. The staff is not very friendly. Our room at the 2nd floor was clean but super basic, not well maintained and dated, and also relatively expensive. The walls are very thin,...

The Rifugio is at the base of the south ski area on Etna. It has very nice rooms and the food is tasty and generous. It is a great base for doing the climb up Etna. I couldn't help but wonder how it has survived the lava flows, but I'm sure glad it has.

This is definitely the best place to stay when you want to climb the etna, we even got free coupons to take the cable car. Very friendly service and not outrageously priced in the evening, although it seemed they were the only hotel/restaurant open during our visit.

Location is great to drive to get the cable cars to go up to Mt Etna Also location has a good restaurant full service, food is good and fair prices. Great to relax after going up the volcano. Wonderful day trip from Siracusa. Enjoy the scenery and time to take it all in.

Coming from Catania, make sure you are there for the bus near the station early enough or prebook a seat. The hotel is clean, welcoming, with excellent breakfast and evening meal and it is just next to the cable car to the Etna! It was very helpful that we could have packed lunches for our group. The hut where you...
