We know many luxury guest houses in France and elsewhere in the world...but Charme Merry is appart, and unique for all those who look for a small, warm place, perfect for "farniente", with a 1st class design (very rare in such a region). The onwers cook perfectly, and after trying surrounding "chefs" (you're in The region of gastronomy and wine!), you generally come back for Olivia and Nicolas's dinners, which are allways gorgeous. One of the best adress i know.

We have recently stayed at Olivia and Nicholas's B & B en route to Provence. What a find this is. Located in the heart of rural France, it is serenly quiet and unspoiled. Our room was huge, with a comfortable bed, free wi-fi and a free-standing bath. Huge windows give you a view of the garden and pool; quiet and private and so relaxing.

Nicholas and Olivia are fantastic hosts. Our evening began, in the garden, with our fellow guests, sipping chilled white wine and eating homemade cheese 'nibbles', whilst chatting informally, as one would at the start of a dinner party. Dinner was then served outside our hosts home, under a pergola festooned with vines.

Where to start with the meal! Olivia had gone to the most enormous amount of trouble to make sure that this was a meal to remember. It began with a delicious blueberry and chicken terrine, followed by quail and to finish, a really spectacular summer pudding made from local fruit. Also included was a vast cheese platter with at least six or seven local cheeses to try and then, as if that were not enough, Olivia presented us with home-made chocolates and other sweets. We were fortunate that our fellow guests had a good grasp of English, so the conversation was intelligent and lively and we really felt we had been to a very successful dinner party!

Breakfast the next morning was also impressive - home made jams (including dandelion!), a choice of salted or unsalted butter, yoghurts, breads, fruit - the list goes on.

Our hosts worked exceptionally hard to make sure that we had a good time - and we did. Nicholas spared us time in the morning to show us around and talk to us about his working life as a photographer in Paris.

We would highly recommend this B & B to anyone in the area. Comfortable, amazing food, delightful company and in the most lovely spot.

We just came back from France and looking back we remember our stay with Nicolas and Olivia as a highlight of our trip. Nicolas is a designer and a photographer, and he did a marvellous job on the old house. The rooms are beautifully decorated in a wonderful combination of an old farm with modern facilities. But most important is that you get to know your hosts: friendly, warm and gracious people who are willing to share their house and to spend their evenings with you at a delicious dinner that they cook together.

Room Tip: We loved our room with a state of the art aquatic shower. It was on the first floor - St Bris.

If you have children, simply forget this place! We stayed there 3 nights, with our kid of 4 years old, and we felt as soon as we arrived that our child was not welcome at all, despite the fact that we had of course informed the hosts of our family's composition and kid's age. They were really very stressed by the presence of a kid, and very unfriendly, especially her. We had dinner with them one night, the atmosphere was terrible and the dinner only possible thanks to the presence of the other guests. The room was nice, but not worth the price, especially compared with very nice places in the surroundings where half the price is requested. During our stay, our room has only been cleaned once!

This is the simply the best chambre d´hote in the Yonne region of Burgundy. A stay at Olivia and Nicholas wonderful guest house should not be missed if you are planning to visit this part of France. The rooms are beautifully desgined and Olivia and Nicholas are warm, wonderful and welcoming hosts (speaking good English for those Brits that dont have much French). A pre dinner drink in the evening sunshine in the the charme merry garden is a real pleasure, then there is also the swimming pool and the electric bike....... nice breakfast, comfortable bed and a fun place to stay - go on give it a wirl!

Unfortunately we only stayed one night at Le Charme Merry but we were so impressed by the quality of the place and the charming hosts we look forward to going back there sometime in the not too distant future. We agree with the other reviews (most of them) about the food. It was truly amazing and certainly the best we have ever had at a Table d'Hote bed and breakfast. Everything is home made to a very high quality. The outstanding aspect of this place though is the warmth and generosity of the hosts. They are absolutley delightful. It was on the expensive side for a B & B but in our opinion worth every penny.

It was just wonderful. Nothing else to say. The calm and the nature surrounding you are soothing. The forest everywhere, the little river is very cute... But the food has been the best part for us... It was just unbelievable ! The wine, the Truffles in the scramble eggs for the Brunch.... incredible ! If you are interested by photographers and design, the owners and the decoration will please you. If you don’t know nothing, just pay attention to all the tinny touches that makes the house exceptional. The rooms are awesome as well. Very trendy and pure. Thanks for your warm welcome and wish you the best

Although the accommodation iitself is good for a B&B, our stay was somewhat disappointing. Our room wasn't cleaned once during our 3 night stay (not even the wastepaper bin was emptied), something we have never experienced anywhere before, however small the establishment. Breakfast was also rather meagre, nice homemade jams as others have mentioned but otherwise just over-crusty baguette and some occasionally rather burnt croissants. Some cheese or cereal would have been welcome for those who don't like such a sweet breakfast. The hosts were friendly but we felt they would prefer guests to stay for dinner too which we chose not to. However, as the village itself has no amenities at all and the next reasonably sized town (Vezelay) is a 25 minute drive away, the B&B is not so convenient if you want to go touring during the day and dine out every evening, so unless you enjoy the communal dining experience for both breakfast and dinner and are happy to stay by the pool all day, this might not be the best option.

Despite being a little out of the way this address is to be recommended especially for the excellent evening meals prepared which such care and proficiency. A relaxed atmosphere where the family is very much hands on making you feel so welcome. Hosts can speak English but encourage guests to speak French and refresh their language skills. Comfortable rooms, heated swimming pool and a large garden available. Few days here and one does not want to leave!

In the middle of the village you will find charme merry near the church. Ring and they will explain you where to park the car. There is a nice garden with a pool witch was a must as it was very warm. The rooms are in a separated building. The rooms are really cool, modern and well decorated. The main building is the owner’s house with the kitchen, dining room and rest room. Nice location over all. We had “table d’hote” in the evening, which was quite disappointing as other reviews are very positive on the food there. The first plate was a small “tomato pizza” with far too much mustard. The second plate was very basic (meat with vegetable). The wine was also very basic. At least the owners witch are very nice people did excuse themselves for the evening arguing that they had a very busy week and where tired! Despite the evening meal I will return there as the rooms and the location are good. I just hope they will build the summer kitchen in the garden in order to have more sun in the morning and in the evening.
