Although the 2nd floor view of the Gulf is exceptional, this motel should not hold an average rating. Our room (212) had stained carpets, raunchy smell, and a fridge that did not work. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom area was clean and outfitted with usual traveler soap and shampoo. The outside appearance of the hotel is a little scary, showing signs of unmaintaned structures. This place is very well located. Owners should invest in its building. It is marvelously located. We paid 129$+tx, a price that can only hold during the Quebec construction holiday period. Otherwise, this shouldn't go for more than 90$

Room Tip: I don't know about the other rooms, but the smell and stained carpet in 212 should be avoided

And what a view it is! Our 2nd floor balcony (with 2 chairs) looked out over the town and St Lawrence River. This motel is located on a hill overlooking the area. Very spacious room. There was a slight language barrier with the reception staff, but we did just fine. We were in Room 106, and if you are in this room, there is a gym with a few pieces of equipment across the hall. Air conditioned room with comfortable bed. The town is very quaint, with a small boardwalk, plus the ability to access the beach, if the tide allows. Found quite a few pieces of beach glass, which was fairly scarce in other locations we stopped at during our east coast trip. There are a few restaurants in town, but we didn’t try them. One, though, is on the waterfront and there is one in the hotel. No breakfast included in the room rate.

How they can charge a premium price for a crappy motel is beyond me. We only stayed because it was last minute, accepted our dog, and we planned poorly. “Free” breakfast is for 2 only, despite being a family of 4.

We were told that the rooms were excellent, but unfortunately, they were all booked up. We did stop for breakfast after staying at another motel nearby, and it was excellent, and the service EXCELLENT! The view from the dinning room was great, overlooking the St.Lawrence and the “herd of sheep” on the adjacent hillside!

We had some trouble checking into the motel, as our French was as limited as the office staff's English. Nice large clean room. Nice view from our room. Breakfast which was included with the room was excellent. Lovely hot breakfast of bacon and eggs. Nice place to stay.

My wife and I were able to leave our car at the motel while we cycled around the Gaspe and they gave us a terrific room upon our return. Newly renovated and great breakfast. We'll be returning next summer to finish the other half of the Gaspe!

Overall this was a good experience. A somewhat standoffish reception at check-in, but I was pleasantly surprised by the room (which counts for more) which had two queen beds and was decorated along the lines of a mid-range hotel chain - which was good in my view for a place that is billed as a "motel" (there is an upper floor so our stay was really more a "hotel" experience). The view from the balcony onto the St Lawrence was impressive. There was a sculpture installation below our balcony (a pastoral one of a shepherd and sheep, which fits well with the surroundings) which was a nice touch. Finally - excellent service at the restaurant at breakfast, accompanied again by that view to the St Lawrence and reasonable prices made this motel a good value. Near Les Jardins de Métis, which is a great reason to visit this area. Would stay again.

Stayed here for one night at the last minute (booked the day before) and still got a very good rate. Room was spacious, beds were comfortable, staff were fine, excellent location. We ate in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast and both were also very good.

It has a comfortable room with a good bed. It is prohibit to smoke inside the rooms, however my room smell cigarette and that was a terrible thing. If you are simply traveling in this region and want a place to stop by this is a good choice for the price.

At motel Mont Joli the staff is not overly enthusiastic or pleasant. They do their job and don't ask for more because it seems to be an imposition. The rooms are supposed to be non smoking but they smell heavily of smoke and there were cigarette burns in the carpet and on the new bathtub. The beds are very comfortable but my son woke up with a rash on his legs and back. I don't know what it was caused by - maybe an allergy to smoke embued linen covers and carpets. The price for the room is reasonable and included breakfast. The food was very good but the service at the table lacking. Cet hotel doit améliorer leur service à la clientèle si il veut être compétitif. La Gaspésie est une région très chaleureuse mais pas à Mont Joli Motel. :(
