Our third time here and it doesn't disappoint. We booked Room 2 with it's superking bed and walk-in shower. Even though it's over the restaurant it's totally quiet. The food downstairs is the best in town. If you're traveling in the area, don't miss the Golden Lion.

I stayed here at the very last minute prior to a meeting at Wilton. The helpful woman in the phone said they could accommodate me at very short notice and that they could keep the kitchens open for my late arrival as I was staying. I arrived at 8:30 and entered from the cold dark outside to the most welcoming...

Service and staff very good. Unfortunately meal very disappointing and very overpriced. Order sirloin steak at £21.95. Paid extra for a peppercorn sauce. Steak was cooked perfectly but was served with frozen chips and lettuce leaves, very poor standard. Peppercorn sauce was very bland and very watery. The bill was £79 for a couple of lagers and one bottle red...

We used the Golden Lion for a 3 night stay while doing the Lyke Wake Walk - they were happy to deal with our strange booking pattern with some people there for one night, others for three. The welcome was great, the accommodation clean and finished to an excellent standard (best shower I've ever had, seriously. Best ever), welcoming of...

Myself and a colleague popped in to the Golden Lion after an afternoon at Redcar races last Wednesday. The pub is listed in my Camra Good Beer Guide 2014. The Golden Lion is situated in the centre of the village. Plenty of on street parking in the vicinity. Great beer on draught including Timothy Taylor Landlord (just a pity I...

We recently stayed here whilst on the Cleveland Way, the welcome and the evening meal were excellent. The staff were very friendly and the room clean and comfortable. The big let down for the Golden Lion was the breakfast. Firstly the staff, were quite abrupt and rude. This was an older couple who we presumed were the managers/owners. We weren't...

We had a beautiful room for our 1 night stay. The room was very spacious with the best shower on the walking route. We also had access to a small courtyard. FDinner was very good too, with an excellent menu.

We had an excellent stay. The welcome was lovely, very personalised. The accommodation was great - very clean and cosy. The room was spacious and well decorated. Views of the village were superb from our room. The food was amazing and the staff catered for my coeliac disease perfectly (homemade gluten free bread and good menu choices). The atmosphere in...
