Stayed at The Golden Lion over the Easter weekend when visiting family. We have stayed at many places around and about the area over the years, but this definitely beats them all. Value for money, we really couldn't fault this bed and breakfast. Large clean room with very comfortable large double bed. Great breakfast freshly cooked. Dinner was excellent on...

All I can say is good things about our two night stay at Golden Lion. We were a little apprehensive as it was quite a bit cheaper than some other places in the area; but it was fantastic; and superb value for money. The room was lovely. Very clean, bed very comfy bed, and the shower was amazing. There were...

Beautiful and idyllic location nestled in the Yorkshire moors, this is well worth the drive. Very busy pub and restaurant with traditional ales, a decent menu offering classical fare with modern twists. Competitive prices and great with the kids - couldn't fault it at all. Really impressed for our first time and will return. Well done indeed.

We were pleased that we stopped here on our way to a National Park nearby for lunch. There was a choice of three pubs within sight of each other but we looked at the menu outside and chose The Golden Lion. The starter of calamari was enjoyed by all of us and the main from the Specials board of slow...

Very accommodating as many of our party came in late, and later still! Great atmosphere and service. Very nice ales and good variety. Great Sunday lunch, no beef left unfortunately but we were late in the day so I can certainly forgive that. Chicken was really good, everything nicely cooked and one fully satisfied table for 11! We'll be back...

Nice homely little pub with great food. Visited on a Wednesday night... The slow cooked daube of beef was excellent... served with a rich gravy, mashed potatoes and cabbage... Mouthwatering delicious. Excellent substantial goat's cheese starter. Reasonably priced. Quality and quantity of food very good. Nice place. Already recommended to friends and family and I will revisit in a couple...

Another fantastic visit to this quaint pub for lunch. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and there are not enough words to describe the food, the only trouble with us is we always have the same woe betide if they ever take the salmon fishcake or chicken kiev off the menu. As it was just into the new year...

We've stayed here a couple of times while visiting relatives in the N-E. We had the same room - room 5 - each time and it's a little odd. The bedroom is only slightly larger than the bed and there are no windows - as I say, a little odd. However the bathroom is absolutely wonderful - enormous with a...
