Driving around New Zealand we stopped into the visitor information centre in Gore. We took a drive to a B & B called 'Hokonui' and met the owners (Shona and Brian). Shona and Brian were always up for a chat and a drink if you have time. They were very accomodating. The room was well presented and clean. This was...

Brian and Shona are retired farmers, long-time residents of the area, and have built a beautiful place overlooking the countryside just outside of Gore. The view from the B&B is absolutely spectacular and the setting serene. Their house is modern, stylish and beautifully equipped. Breakfasts were hearty and delicious. I traveled to Gore to flyfish with a friend who recommended...

We were crossing the Southland and decided to stay a night in Gore. Brian and Shona were great hosts and the room we had was spacious and well appointed. Our only regret was that we didn't stay more than one night. If we are ever in the area again, we will certainly stay in Gore and use it as a...

We stayed in Gore one night between a visit to the Otago Peninsula and an overnight cruise in Doubtful Sound.  This allowed us to split the driving into two chunks of 2 hours rather than a four hour stretch on the morning of our cruise.  The one down side was that we chose to take an early tour of the...
