We spent the weekend in the timeshare section of the hotel.
The rooms are large and the beds comfortable.
The kitchen is adequate for self catering and there is also access to the hotel restaurant if you don’t feel like cooking.
Our son in-law discovered a previously unused mountain bike trail that pleased him and our two year old grandson enjoyed swimming, trampolining and children’s play area as well as boating on the dam. There is a great deal to do at the resort or one can simply enjoy peace and quiet in the well insulated suites. The monkeys provide entertainment in the gardens but leaving a sliding door open will result in food getting stolen from wherever it can be found. I saw a couple of bananas flying through the air in the hands of a monkey.
In spite of some very hot weather, a most enjoyable weekend.
Thank Ross S

I liked the hotel and, I will encourage my consultants to book this hotel for team buildings and also honeymooners, also suitable for couples to do horse riding and hiking. Also families as it is kiddies friendly.

A very disappointing stay due to a pool party ( loud and raucous) on the Saturday. Was hoping to spend a quiet weekend in a beautiful setting. People who had made bookings there should have been advised of this event prior to arriving at the resort.

We were staying nearby and decided to visit for lunch and maybe a massage. We eventually found the massage spa to be told they were fully booked for the weekend despite it being 13:05 with several staff sitting around and massage beds not in use.
We then proceeded to the restaurant where the service was slow, it took an age for our drinks to arrive despite the fact that the restaurant was not busy. My wife's strawberry daiquiri was very watery and tasted as it the strawberry had been dipped in and then removed! My local beer in a returnable bottle with a recommended selling price clearly marked on bottle actually cost 5x the price. I accept you must pay more for the service and location but a markup of 500% is surely excessive. There was also some sort of poorly supported function being held near the pool just below the restaurant pumping out load music that destroyed and atmosphere and enjoyment of the scenery.
The meal when it arrived was disappointing, accompanied by about 15 skinny chips in a small metal basket.
A visit to the toilet revealed a very old toilet seat with damaged paintwork showing the chip board underneath and with the supports on bottom missing. The lights are also linked to a motion sensor, great but the sensor does not detect movement in the cubicle, so after a couple of minutes the lights go out leaving it dark and gloomy.
It took several minutes to attract the waiters attention to bring the bill and she then duly vanished for another five minutes or so before returning to see if we needed the card machine, needless to say during that extended wait I removed to 10% gratuity I had included.
All in all a very disappointing visit to a place I had heard excellent reports of and which obviously relies on its old reputation to encourage people to visit.

If you are staying in the hotel they would not allow it however if you stay in the self catering units they have lovely braai facilities for you and all the equipment and utensils you would need. Much better option
