If you're looking for somewhere to chill out for a day or two, this quirky establishment is ideal. Sunday lunch was delicious- tender roast beef topped with a yummy Yorkshire pudding- and the sharing platter at supper was equally tasty. The rooms in The Headmaster's House were very cosy and well presented.

1 Sunday a month we visit here and the Sunday roast is the best around.. We had the pork version which is slightly smaller than the beef version..both very nice although I'd say the beef is the best and the littlun had fish chips & mushy peas which although it sounds not too exciting, the fish is the best battered...

I needed somewhere close to Whitchurch to stay overnight before a course for work. This place had been recommended by friends and as it was geographically convenient for meeting up with an old friend, I booked a room and we had supper together before she headed home. I fell in love with the place the minute I walked through the...

We were a group of eight who arrived for a gin tasting birthday bash. Our tasting was booked for 4 pm and lasted about an hour and a half. We tasted gins of different styles and learnt about their history and make up. We tasted different tonics and experienced the difference a garnish could make. I would recommend this experience,...

Although it has a little bit of a pretentious atmosphere and is frequented by aspirational cheshirites, I have been to 'the chum' lots of times. The food is certainly good, but once you've been a handful of times it gets a little monotonous menu wise. However what seems to alternate and indeed increase, is the ridiculous waiting times to be...

Food was beautiful , all cooked and presented very well although the chicken meal was very small . However it was let down by very poor service . Staff unfriendly and very slow . Meal took ages to come then we were left ages after without anyone coming to clear table . Eventually I asked to order sweets , which...

Good fun. Full of character, staff very pleasant and lovely lite bites. Shall return. Fitted into 'The Snug' which was perfect for a good chat. Welsh rarebit yummy and BLT. Coffee and naughty flapjacks were also a great success.

As restaurants go, I think they offer superior food that is well presented. I had a delicious mushroom starter followed by roast breast of chicken (slightly 'chewy') and a superb cheese board, all washed down with a decent bottle of Primitivo. Informality is seemingly de rigueur in this place with tables close together, dogs panting, and staff dressed 'any old...

The food here is excellent. Dogs are allowed too. only disadvantage is that you cannot book and gets pretty busy on a Friday and Saturday night. We've sat out in a cold waiting area "out-back" in the past and although there are heaters outside and blankets provided, it is pretty cold in the middle of winter! Food is great though,...
