Comfortable and friendly hotel with a great restaurant attached. The hotel us in the centre of town within a five minute walk of fame the old Roman bridge. A warning about parking however - the hotel has no bespoke car park, but does have pay and display parking nearby with limited hours - you can park there for two hours at a time, but no longer between 9am to 2pm and 4pm to 6pm - the remaining time is free. It just means you need to get up early to buy a ticket then move the car before 11am - sounds complicated, but not really and was our cheapest parking of the fortnight.

Bare bones hotel -- small rooms and tiny bathrooms. No A/C. Noisy bar and restaurant below. That said, the beds were comfortable, the linens nice and the room was very clean. There was a flat screen TV (no English channels). Management did find electric fans for the other travelers with us which helped immensely, and we had two 6-inch battery operated fans we brought with us (purchased at Walmart for about $7). We had to keep the windows open for air but I had earplugs and so was able to sleep. Hotel staff was very welcoming and helpful. The bar downstairs had good tapas style sandwiches and the breakfast was good. The open air bar was actually quite fun and pleasant. The price was very reasonable, less than 50 Euros per night. All in all, we liked the hotel once we got some air moving in our rooms.

Cangas the Onis is a popular place for hikers and a good place to stay if you want to explore the national park - Picos de Europa. The hotel is on the main street, and I stayed at the top floor. The rooms were renovated and the room had air-condition. It was quiet even if the hotell was very close to the main street, but I suppose some of the rooms facing the entrance was a bit more noisy. Staff was very helpful. The breakfast was excellent, a very nice buffet. The dinner however was not that special. We had a menue which was economic of course, but tasted quite ordinary.

We are on a motorbike touring holiday and this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful. One of our riders fell off and Chus from the reception team personally drove us to the hospital to drop off some clothes for the injured rider as the taxis were too booked up. It’s that kind of service and human kindness that makes these trips so special, especially in times of need! Very grateful to Chus for helping us. ❤️❤️❤️

Food was delicious too, if you’re a meat eater, the entrecôte steak was incredible.

... is what I wrote in October 2014, and it still holds true. Our third stay, this year, was as delightful as the first, for all the same reasons. The food is great, the menu del día provides proper, home-cooked Asturian food, often with a subtle but important 'cheffy' detail, such as the brûlée finish on the spiced rice pudding.

The continental breakfast features fresh bread, cake and croissants, freshly squeezed orange juice and other delights. Bocadillos (small sandwiches) and tortillas (Spanish potato omelettes) become gradually available for walk-in guests over the hotel bar's counter as morning progresses, and by late morning, the display supplied the perfect content for our lunchboxes as we dawdled out into the surrounding hillside, whose <900 m peaks provide lovely picnic spots with views southeast towards the much higher Picos, or glimpses of the Cantabrian Sea to the north.

Housekeeping magicked our large, cheerful room spotless by our return. The shower unfailingly supplied hot water, after which we'd struggle to decide between a nap in the big comfortable bed, or joining the late afternoon crowd enjoying coffee, pinchus (little bits to eat), wine and cider whilst chatting, reading, playing cards or just relaxing at the tables spilling out into the town square from underneath the hotel's canopy. The hotel never stops, and staff are always helpful and friendly. I can't think of a better place to spend my holiday.

What a great find, well positioned, close to the centre of town and only 5 minutes walk to the Roman bridge. Fantastic value, nicely decorated rooms with small, but well equipped, bathroom. Breakfast was included in what was an already a very competitive room rate. No private car parking.

In early October we spent the most fabulous 9 days at the wonderfully welcoming Los Lagos Nature in the centre of Cangas de Onís. Our big 3rd floor room looked out over town houses to the hills beyond, through french

doors secured by 'balcony' railings. The bed was huge and comfortable, bathroom and wardrobe spacious; housekeeping staff tireless, efficient, and friendly.

The hotel went quiet around an hour or so before midnight, and we were normally enticed downstairs by 10:30 a.m. by mouth-watering smells of coffee, breakfast and lunch (but no noise) wafting in through our open window

from the 'Los Arcos' kitchen downstairs, the heart of the enterprise.

The hotel/restaurant layout is perfect for a non-stop house party: the ground-floor breakfast room / restaurant is niched / open-plan with the bar, which in turn opens directly out to the ayuntamiento (municipality / town

administration), a town-central pedestrianised square set back from the main road. Everyone - staff, guests, and the occasional sparrow - milled in and out and mingled unrestricted. The weather helped, being mainly sunny, so

only once or twice were the outside doors closed, during a couple of heavy, cooling evening showers.

Front-of-house staff were unfailingly smiling, helpful, efficient, and patient with our broken Spanish, and the food was lovely and always freshly prepared, from the breakfast buffet through to late evening, and even when 'simple'

food was offered for the Menu del Día it was gorgeous, with a unique house twist. For example, the Pote Asturiana (a notch up from a simple Fabada) included just the right amount of sharp kale to balance the obligatory stew

ingredients broad beans, fatty pork, black pudding and chorizo (all of superior quality); and the Merluza (hake) was poached and served in a buttery sauce with rodellónes (chanterelle mushrooms). Unsurprisingly, the place is

popular, but even when full, staffing levels were perfectly tuned, and staff seemlessly self-regulated co-ordination and handovers to cover particularly busy corners. Service was always prompt but also always matched to the

guest's apparent preference, so we had both quick and slow meals, and long, leisurely, undisturbed chats over cups of coffee or glasses of wine. When we drank cider, staff would drift past more often to check whether we

needed a top-up; Asturian cider tastes (even) better when oxygenated by being poured from a great height and drunk immediately.

We really could not fault this hotel, and look forward to our next visit.

Certainly the location is as described. Not sure if Cangas de Onís has a Plaza Mayor but if it did, this would be it! Consequently, well positioned and although parking in this town can be difficult in August we found plenty of safe, free parking within a few minutes stroll of the hotel.
One of our main gripes has to be the Air Conditioning which was non existent and some unusual hot temperatures above 30 degrees meant we didn't get much sleep during our three nights!
If you are staying here, avoid the 4th floor and room 402 in particular. Our room (402, and I suspect all of them) had an unusually low ceiling which is due to the roof shape above. Very dangerous, and makes the usable parts of the roof very limited and of course other than a roof skylight, no windows to enjoy the Plaza below.
Way overpriced and we would not return.

Nice hotel in the center of the town.
Breakfast a little lacking but of quality. It has a public parking behind the square.
Good place to take trips to nearby towns.
If I return I will surely repeat
Recommendable.
