The Hilton La Romana, an adults-only resort, is lauded for its serene atmosphere, though occasional loud music can disrupt the tranquility. Nestled in a prime location close to picturesque beaches, guests enjoy the array of amenities such as lush pools and diverse dining options, all within a beautifully clean setting. While the Enclave upgrade is often seen as worthwhile, some guests feel certain amenities are overpriced. The rooms are generally celebrated for their comfort and tidiness, despite some minor maintenance issues. The service is consistently applauded, with staff members providing memorable hospitality.

Having just returned from a two-week all-inclusive holiday at the Hotel La-Ramona, I thought it worth the effort to feed back our experience.

We stayed in an “Enclave” double room with garden view in the Adults only section. The garden view meant that we were not over-looked and our balcony was private which was preferred and also presented a nice change from sea, pools and sand. The room was spacious with plenty of storage space and the Air conditioning worked perfectly. The washroom and walk in shower were functional, with hot water at all times. Bedding and toiletries were changed daily as required and the room was kept clean. The mini bar contained water and soft drinks. A small kettle and a variety of packet beverages were on hand if you needed a hot drink, though we never bothered to use it.

Lastly on the room review, the one available electrical socket was between the beds with a light switch so close that using a UK or European adaptor was impossible. The only other socket was being used by the kettle, so if you need access to a socket be sure to get the one with the extra round earth pin, as without this, the plug hangs loosely and needs supporting to hold in place. There are two USB outlets for mobile phone charging which on a 110v supply takes ages.

All the staff at this resort can’t do enough for you. Everyone is polite and meets you with a greeting of the day. Many are full of energy and really enjoy what they do. This passes on the clients as fun and enjoyment is everywhere. I would say they are the nicest hotel people we have ever experienced. Whilst it is not possible to name everyone, nor to remember all their names, but the young man who works the swim-up bar near the beach in the adult’s section was an absolute star. So much fun trying out my basic Spanish each morning, getting better each day. His Mai Tai cocktails were perfect. A mention to Candy, great food in the Mediterranean restaurant and the pork BBQ on the beach each Tuesday. The girls who greeted us for breakfast in the Mediterranean Restaurant were excellent! I leaned a few Spanish words from them and was able to gain some basic replies, thanks for the lessons. I could go on here with many examples, but suffice to say they made the holiday very special with enthusiastic professionalism and a genuine warm-hearted manner.

There are several restaurants, but for us our favorites were the French, Italian, and Mediterranean ones. The buffet food we tried on two occasions as the dress code was welcome with the high humidity in the evenings. Whilst not as good as the Ala-carte places it was fine and served its purpose. Generally, the food is very good and served with professionalism and a smile by the excellent staff. The Fillet steak in the Frech restaurant was the best as indeed was their quiche Lorrain as a starter. The wine with meals was varied. In the French restaurant it was a Cabernet Sauvignon and this was the best, being fuller bodied and smooth to the taste. All the other house red wines fell short of my personal preference and so this was my only disappointment drinks wise. The cocktails were excellent and the draught beer (Presedentie) was ok. Bottled beer was available in the Enclave room/bar and was clearly an improvement, but that would mean walking some distance each time just for a beer, so not worth the effort. Spirit drinks were all top shelf brands and were fine.

The beach is fantastic, the sea is warm and very little if any sargassum (Sea weed) The beach loungers are not as comfortable as the ones by the pool areas, but the sea breeze when it comes is a welcome relief from the intense heat. Bring lots of high factor sun screen and after sun to prevent peeling. Waiter service on the beach is present and the lady who works that area was very nice. There is a BBQ on the beach every day around 1:30 and it is highly recommended. There was other snack type take-aways around the resort which are also good, but with an Enclave booking you do get dinner time Ala-carte in two restaurants which are very good indeed.

The evening entertainment is fine and opinions would vary depending on your age and if you were staying with children. Catering for everyone’s preferences would not be easy, but on the whole, it was something to watch for a change. It would have been nice to have seen some magic acts as dancing to music can get rather repetitive, although the circus act was good.

With all this said, it was the best holiday we have ever had and we both agreed to return in the near future.

Please serve a Merlot or shiraz as a house red for when we do, thanks to all of you.

The hotel is about 50 minutes from Punta Cana airport. Because of its location in the south, there is almost never seaweed on the beach unless there is a storm raging in the Caribbean Sea.

Our room was in Block 3 on the first floor. It was very quiet and centrally located. The rooms were meticulously maintained and someone came in the evening to bring fresh towels and make the bed so you just had to jump in.

The service was great for the most part. I would especially like to highlight Diomedy; she served us on the beach and was always attentive and warm. Where we didn't like the service so much was in the evenings in the Premium Adult Bar and in the lobby. The ladies in the Premium Adult Bar were not particularly friendly. If you wanted to take your drinks outside, you were given a plastic cup. However, if you got drinks from the regular lobby bar, they were served in regular glasses. We found this very odd as the term "premium" somehow lost its meaning.

We loved the food. We tried all the restaurants, the only one we didn't like was "The Grill" in the family area on the jetty. The seating was nice, but the food wasn't particularly tasty. Our favorites were Mare, Ausangate and La Moustache.

We used the stand-up paddling and kayaking, but not the rest. But there was a very extensive selection.

Small tip: If you like drinking Barcelo rum, it's worth driving straight to the factory. You can buy it very cheaply there.

Beautiful structure, modern, very large and you never have a feeling of crowding. It is located a few kilometers from La Romana airport.

It is divided into two areas: Family, larger, dedicated to families with children, and Adult-only, quieter, reserved for guests aged 18 and over. The two structures also have separate receptions, separate swimming pools and separate restaurants (guests in the adult area can access the restaurants in the family area but not vice versa).
The "border" between the two areas is clearly indicated by signs but there are no physical barriers.

The family area has a larger beach.

The entertainment activities take place mainly in the family area where there is also an outdoor theater and children's play areas. The gardens and green areas are very well looked after, the beach a little less so.

The sea is very clean but the sand is very fine and therefore remains in suspension and causes the water to have a "milky" appearance, not clear.
Beach towels are available.

With an extra cost you can access the so-called "enclave", which includes a reserved area on the beach, a private swimming pool and the possibility of having breakfast and lunch not at the buffet.

The rooms are large, modern and clean. There is a safe, coffee/tea kettle, minibar (included in the all inclusive), bathrobes, slippers and adjustable air conditioning. The rooms are distributed in 2/3-storey buildings without a lift.

Mattress and pillows too soft for my taste.

Bathroom with large shower, but single sink even though there was space to put two.

There are many restaurants (for dinner) but during rush hour you sometimes have to wait to get a table (except at the buffet). The restaurants cannot be booked, except for Sakura where reservations are mandatory.

For lunch there is also the possibility of having something on the beach or by the pool such as ice cream, nachos, hamburgers or pizza.

Room service is also possible (you only pay a fee of 10 USD for the service but food is included).

The staff are mostly friendly and helpful, but many do not speak English.

A few notes:
- Food quality not great
- The sunbeds on the beach are a little dirty and are not cleaned
- Unfortunately there is the bad practice of occupying the sunbeds early in the morning with towels or other personal objects so arriving at the beach or swimming pool after 9am the best places are already occupied by people who will show up much later. In theory this would not be allowed but no one does anything to enforce the rule. However, sunbeds are plentiful and there is no risk of running out.
- Cabanas on the beach and by the pool are subject to charges (USD 120)
- The humidity is causing some damage to the (wooden) doors of the rooms.

Overall it is an excellent resort and absolutely recommended.

**If you are sensitive to mold, avoid this hotel**

The good:

Beautiful hotel, gorgeous views of the ocean, warm weather. Good food at the teppenyaki experience. Most of the employees were friendly.

The bad:

We paid an extra cost to have the enclave access ( Access to certain restaurants for breakfast etc.)

The service at the "Mare" restaurant was very poor and the employees did not seem happy to be there/ we had to ask for drinks/ food we ordered multiple times etc.
The mini bar was also never stocked with snacks ( included with enclave)

**Something to note **

The rooms have a sensor to sense when you are in the room and when they don't detect movement after a certain period of time your air conditioner turns off. This is very inconvenient and makes for a hot uncomfortable sleep.

The ugly:

The bathroom wall has a sensor that turns off the fan/ light when you are showering.

The lack of ventilation causes the room to smell of mildew, the sheets to feel damp and the ceiling to grow mold

They burn trash in the evening, which causes the whole resort to smell of burning trash during dinner time.

My experience:

When I entered my room the toilet was clogged . The butler we had who was with us told us that it would be resolved. We came back 3 hours later to a still clogged toilet. They finally fixed it around 9am.

The overall attitude left me feeling that Hilton does not care about their customers' experience, comfort or health.

We had a family break at La Romana in January 2025. We took three rooms in total one of which was a suite The suite was absolutely ideal for our needs very big and well appointed. The overall Hotel is well looked after and you get the feeling that is constantly being cleaned. Even the public toilet areas were immaculate. The grounds are stunning and very well looked after by the Garden team, we took the enclave package which gave us access to a private lounge which had snacks throughout the day and access to high-quality drinks. This also gave us access to a private area on the beach Like The Hotel. The beach is well looked after with a large team cleaning every single morning with the suite we also were able to utilise the services of a Butler, Feebles was absolutely awesome making sure that everything we needed was taken care of every day he would bring us a cool box down to the beach with our favourite drinks so in summary all the facilities are fantastic

However the only downside to our holiday was the quality of food the breakfast buffet area every morning is very high-quality with fresh fruits continental meats and many other options but we found that most of the restaurants the quality of food was very poor the Peruvian restaurant was one of the highlights as was Sakura the Japanese both were good but not great. We ate at noor which is supposed to be one of the flagship restaurants found the food to be of poor quality and pretty tasteless.

The overall Facility is really very nice with beautiful beach and crystal blue Sea. The facilities are immaculate but the one thing holding it back is really good high quality cuisine.

This place is absolute luxury from the moment we arrived we were treated in a very special way.

We were greeted at the door by one of the enclave team and taken to the premium lounge where we were served a glass of champagne on a comfortable sofa and guided through with one of the enclave team how things work at the hotel and how to get around.

The hotel has 8 buildings and a few villas the buildings contain large rooms in a beautiful condition , marble bathrooms.

Some rooms have a private bathing area on their patio with sunbeds on water (nice touch)

There are so many paces to eat if you are part of the enclave , you definetly need to try Noor restaurant had the best steak in there

There is also an Italian and French restaurant on the site and also a beachfront restaurant called the grill and a beautiful restaurant on the adult enclave beach called Mare

There is another restaurant called Sekura which is an Asian restaurant that does food preparation in from of you , really fun

On a negative side there is a restaurant called Chinola on the beach this restaurant has the best and most beautiful setting however the food is absolutely disgusting , which is a shame because the food in every other establishment is outstanding

There are 4 pools to choose from if you are part of enclave and you have the option of renting a cabana , we did this it was a nice experience but you will probably only want to do this once as it’s costly

There are so many staff at the resort and they are all very attentive and friendly nobody walks by you without saying Hola (hello)

When beside the pool and on the beach somebody comes round frequently to offer you and top up your drinks.

You definetly get a good pampering here

Talking about pampering we had a spa experience which was fantastic a lovely massage followed by chill out time in the secret garden with a bottle of champagne.

The water park is really fun and the slides are really exciting

The resort does put entertainment on at night however it is quite limited.

Overall this was the best holiday I have had the grounds are immaculate and you are made to feel very welcome will
Definetly be returning

The Hilton experience begins before you arrive at the hotel with personalized attentions from the Concierge area team. Jeanniela Santana had a professional deal with me and my family making us feel at home as we travel with my daughter's emotional support dog and Jeanniela makes the whole process easier and more comfortable for everyone. Also with the assistance of Mr. Jean Carlos Rivera who make us enjoy our vacation with the best rooms and service they offer. The good sized, clean, good air conditioned rooms, the best sea view and find a welcome note not only with my name printed on the card, but with the name of each family member is a detail that is priceless. We were greeted with a rich tray of cheeses and wine in the room. I don't want to fail to mention that the beds and pillows are of excellent quality. Thank you Jeanniela and Jean Carlos for the deal and making all this possible. Don’t forget to ask about them when they go to the hotel so that they receive personalized treatment. Super fast checkout with Laura.

They have 2 buffet restaurants and several à la carte to choose from, this time we visited Chinola Dominican food restaurant with a small show to remember our roots, EXCELLENT. The food is varied and with options for all tastes with excellent quality and service, here we always thank Amaurys, excellent treatment, friendly and hardworking. Amaurys always served us at the buffet and now he is in the Peruvian restaurant. They also have pizzas in the pool area and burgers, hot dogs, tacos and so on in the beach area. The drink is high quality where you can enjoy from a refreshing pina colada that feels natural or drink your drinks with confidence.

The staff in general are always very friendly and friendly. When you walk, you are greeted with your hand on your chest which is a very nice gesture.
The hotel areas are spotless, the gardening well maintained, the pools clean and large. They have the water park for those who like to go to entertain as it is for the whole family. Stop by the activity area to see the variety of things you can do at this resort.

We enjoyed a rich massage in the hotel spa where we could relax and with a personalized service. This comes at an additional cost.

I can’t get enough of going to the adults-only Hilton La Romana being our 4th time at this wonderful 5-star resort.

The hotel has definitely set the red pen and you can feel the austerity at every turn. This unfortunately clouded the holiday experience compared to our stay a few years ago. Recently, as a Gold, Diamond or Enclave guest, you no longer get free room service. Shampoo and conditioner were only replenished on repeated demand. It runs at the pool and beach extremely loud non-Caribbean music and is partly so loud that we had to go to the room because it was unendurable. The food has become very bad, the service too. Just tipping vultures everywhere. I understand that a hotel is a business, but when you scare your guests away like that, word spreads quickly. Since I prefer to go back to our favorite hotel in Akumal, where you really get "all inclusive", you don't have to pay 150-200 $ per DAY for cabanas (yes, you read correctly!), but has everything with you, can lie where you want, eat what and where you want and doesn't have to pay an additional fee anywhere. The Hilton wants to squeeze the smallest penny out of its guests everywhere. Never again.

Beautiful resort but it is very hot in the buffet and lobby, you need air conditioners. Italian restaurant was the best. French, grill and Mediterranean was good. Didn’t like that we couldn’t serve ourselves during lunch and dinner, at a buffet it felt that food was limited. Waiters was friendly. You don’t have much choice at the buffet. Buffet workers should all have clean gloves, and they should be careful when they cook I had a piece of plastic in my omelette.
Beach is nice but small, gasoline smell from the boats was very bad. That smell was irritating us of laying and enjoying Beach activity definitely wasn’t enough it’s kinda boring, in other resorts lots of fun games and winning prizes. At beach bar not everyone knows how to make drinks. Cleaning stuff should clean rooms better, when we checked in The toilet was dirty it had urine on the cover and it wasn’t clean inside the toilet I had to call and ask to send a housekeeper to clean it. The mirror in the room was very dirty I had to write a note for them to clean it. Room was dusty I cleaned it myself because I had no time to wait. The closets drawer wasn’t comfortable to open I was afraid to break my nails. The air conditioner flow was very on my head it was annoying I got sick. The light blinking at night in the room on the side of the bed wall on top was annoying. I wasn’t enjoying this hotel much. Water park is nice. Show was nice seats was always wet. I wouldn’t comeback to that place.

Dear D425BPelenal, Thanks for taking the time that you have invested on writing an overview of your stay with us. There seems to have been a number of deficiencies encountered which are very atypical and not reflective of our brand experience; if this stay was marred by irregular circumstances, we can only renew our apologies and assure you that we have in the meantime briefed the team at great length of your comments. We are working on a daily basis to exceed our guest’s expectations and would love to have the opportunity to host you again in the near future to offer you a remarkable stay.

When we first arrived in the family lobby we was blown away with its view across the pool to the sea , checking in we was offered Enclave at $60 then $40 per person per day I said I consider it but after a look around the beach areas in the Enclave sections are rocky so never took up the offer. The grounds are amazingly well kept there’s even a little jungle walk with fish pond on edge of family side and Lots of wildlife if you go looking for it with Pelicans catching fish all day in the sea. We ate mostly in the Buffets and never got bored with the many options , didn’t go in all the Restaurants mainly because of waiting times but The Grill and Asian are great especially the Hibachi table experience. All the staff are fantastic most spoke some or good English .The only problems we had was the Humidity, it’s naturally really high and some days room felt slightly damp or musty even with AC on and we got slightly annoyed by the music at the beach, if you sat by the beach bar on adult side sporadically you can hear two different sets of music in each ear so sometimes we moved to escape it . At Weekends it got really busy so finding a shady area was only possible if you got up early . There was some Sales People about but to be fair if you tell them you’re not interested they leave you alone after that . Overall we loved it and would definitely return

Hello! We were at this property last year, and really didn’t notice a big problem. The Enclave bar and snack area is out of view and we were there every night for drinks and to play cards. The Enclave pool is quiet, if that’s your thing, and the Enclave beach is roped off. There aren’t kids in these spaces (which is what we want) and the liquor is pretty much the same throughout the resort. If you’re looking for one on one attention or high end amenities, this isn’t your place.

Hi, For restaurants, no reservations are required. I guess if you want a "special dinner" (at an additional cost), the butler would manage that, as well as any other activities that are not included...but we didn't opt for any. Beware though of the "tour" of the grounds from your butler. It's a guise to get you to a vacation club sales pitch.
