The hotel called a week before our stay and notified us, "there was no room in the inn." They offered to move us to whala!bavaro, but I distinctly had not wanted to stay in Punta Cana. Plus, the Bavaro property seemed like a slight downgrade. Just beware. On one hand, I'm glad they gave us a week to find another accommodation. How awful would it have been to show up and they not have room? On the other hand, I'm frustrated because now I'm searching for last-minute accommodations during Christmas week. ugh.
I been in this hotel in March 2020 Very nice small hotel with nice atmosphere, nice staff, very well kept and clean. The hotel has three swimming pools with salt water and sea view and one with fresh water, The hotel does not have its own beach but from the hotel runs a bus to the public beach every 30 minutes from morning to late afternoon and it is very punctual, or you can walk about 10-15 minutes. The area is very safe, on the way a small village with grocery stores and souvenirs, and travel agencies.I recommend excursion to Saona island and whale watching,El Limon waterfall in Samana (I bought at Ital Cruise travel agent with Gianlucca, good value for a reasonable price) . There are no hotel sunbeds or freshwater showers on the beach. We preferred a hotel place there. there is a rocky shore with a pier, lifeguard, lifebuoy, beautiful clear water and you can jump into the water from the pier or from the rocks and snork. Rooms large, clean, well-kept with a small fridge (only water on the first day), flat TV and fast free internet. Safe payable. Food - less choice than other hotels, but delicious and always something to choose from. Only one a la carte restaurant and one snack bar open during the day between main meals serving delicious pizza, burgers, hot dogs and fries. In the evening, animations in the open air and live music combined with a disco and dancing, nice atmosphere. During my stay there were no problem with sunbeds aviability on pool area and not to many local people on weekends how I heard from others people opinion. Overall, the hotel is small and modest compared to other resorts, but with a great atmosphere and great staff. A hotel totally different from all others. I highly recommend it.…
I know is a small place but trust me you never regrets to go is a very family place to go the food is fantastic worker are very friendly and helpful room are big and comfortable I'm in love with whala.my next vacation will be there.
We spent two weeks and we loved it! One of those holidays that will stay with us for the rest of our lives. Lovely, gentle people who were so friendly and so helpful without any condition attached. Beautiful venue, postcard perfect, every sunset eclipsing the previous day. Tons of photos. Nature and people. Laughter. Simple, good times. Total relaxation. Rooms clean. Cool. No fuss. Plenty of space. Sad that we had to pay for room safe. Kinda detracted from everything else that was so comfortable and chilled. Food great. Wait staff friendly, quietly thoughtful. Nothing over-the-top. Just a great memorable holiday. Special thanks to Danilo Acosta, DJ Extraordinaire. Such a nice bloke. So generous in sharing his music. Also, Raynier Sanz, the hotel Director who was so professional, down-to-earth and thoughtful. Looked forward to running into him in the evenings when he quietly blended in with the guests. Again, such a truly kind individual. All the staff were quiet unassuming and always willing to help. We both left feeling absolutely rested. And in view of what has transpired globally since our visit, we feel very fortunate to have enjoyed such a nice experience without any inkling of what was to follow globally. We can only hope that this hotel and its staff ... and the beautiful Island of the Domincan Republic bounce back without too much suffering. We hope to return one day and would defintely consider staying at The Whala!Bayahibe again. A real privilege, one for which we are most grateful.…
