Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Iberostar Paraiso Beach garners appreciation for its scenic beachside location and the variety of amenities, including dining and beach activities, which guests have called out as highlights. While the hotel's ambiance is lively, with entertainment that is both dynamic and at times disruptively noisy, the overall cleanliness receives consistent praise. Service is often lauded for staff attentiveness, though some visitors experienced service delays. Travelers caution that the cost of non-inclusive items can detract from the hotel's value, and opinions on the rooms vary, with some finding them outdated.

So as a person who's is a little cynical at this point with All Inclusive resorts, I can honestly say this one renews my interest a bit. This place isn't perfect, but overall I can definitely recommend it. The good: Beautiful, clean, inviting landscape. Off the shuttle, this property stood out over the others we saw when letting people off. Pulling in off the highway it has appeal, compared to some other - even very expensive - resorts in the area. The food overall is pretty good for an AI. Much of it is just "okay," while some of it was pretty good - standouts were the Japanese and French a la cart restaurants. The buffet always had edible options. I'm not a food snob, but I found the last few resorts I've stayed in Mexico - all RIU I think - the food was pretty terrible. Here at least you can feel comfortable filling up. Still a good idea to eat a couple meals off resort to mix it up. The food is a solid C+ overall, which is better than avg for an AI. The room was nice, clean, large. Had a jr suite near pool. Balcony was pretty large and faced the jungle. Was really peaceful and a great experience to hang out there. The pathways from the rooms to the pool or beach were carved out of jungle. Very nice experience. The beach was very good. Ocean calm enough due to the reef, but still fun waves. Water is gorgeous - clear, blue. Occasional tropical fish swimming by you. Nice white sand. Palapas for shade and decent loungers. We didn't hang at the pool at all. Service was pleasant and professional. Never experienced attitude like I have at other AIs. These people seem to understand how to treat guests and perhaps value the repeat customer. Shuttle service was convenient. It's a good 15 to 20 minute walk from the beach end to the lobby end. So these golf cart shuttles are really useful. They stop running at 11pm, which is reasonable but midnight would be nice to get back from the night club or lobby bar etc. Location is fantastic. You have Playa Del Carmen to the south, for nightlife and the ferry to Cozumel. North you have Puerto Morelos for great snorkelling with a cool smaller beach town vibe. You can get to cancun by cab for around $70 usd. If you plan to spend time in Cancun, perhaps stay in cancun. I prefer a bit south as spending time in the ocean is a big part of my trip - and cancun water is often too rough for swimming - no reef protection is what I'm told. It's also busier and more crowded up there. The not so good: The resort is large, and getting around can be confusing and a bit of hassle. There is a lack of good signage so it's easy to end up further from your room from where you started. It takes about a week to get it all sorted out. Staying closer to the beach/pool area is a good option, but you need to go all the way to the lobby side for breakfast or just a decent cup of coffee - that's either a 15 minute walk or a shuttle ride. If you're a coffee in the morning person - bring your own machine I guess. They have coffee in the room but it's not the best. A big problem is getting a lounger either at the pool or beach. They are all "reserved" by folks by around 7am. They don't enforce anything it seems. It's annoying showing up at the beach at 11am or so, in the heat, and walking around for an hour trying to get settled. This is the biggest knock on this resort I would say, and if they found a system to change this it would be rated higher. I found it challenging knowing where to get food during the day. It seems the buffets are often closed at either end and sometimes closed at both ends. We struggled almost every day to get food at the time we wanted to eat. Perhaps this is our fault for not consulting the app. But on vacation, who wants to do this?? With the size of the resort, you just give up and go back to the room hungry. While the beach was overall good, there are some rocks I occasionally stepped on. You figure out where they are though and avoid. Also, some seaweed issues, but it varied day by day and wasn't terrible, but some days there was a lot. A nuisance, but not a deal breaker imo. Overall, I definitely recommend Iberstar Playa Paraiso Beach. Or the other ones. There's not much difference from what we saw. Although, a couple of times it would have been nice to access what was going on next door at the Linda. If the price is similar, might as well get the lindo or Maya just for more options. But I wouldn't spend a lot on an upgrade. Didn't check out the Grand, but I've heard that's another level up for sure. - probably better food too. The golf course was quite nice and guests get a discount - around $130 USD, plus club rental.

Room Tip: If you want a lounger better "reserve" one by 7am. Consult the app for directions and food...

Hotel's Favourite
This was our first time staying at Iberostar, and we will definitely be back. Other resorts that we have stayed at in the last 3 years include Grand Sirenis and Ocean Riviera. What we loved: - The huge pool with many lounge chairs. - The variety of activities!! There was always something to do. We took full advantage of the many activities put on by the amazing Entertainment Team and the night shows. Shout out to JP, Oscar, Daniel, Nerada and Juliana (and any others I have forgotten). You are amazing!! - The app. A lot of people complained about the app in the reviews, but we thought it was amazing. The map was very valuable during the first couple days of learning our way around the resort. The activities calendar was perfect. And we could reserve our a la carte dinners on the app!!! OMG. Life changing. Huge kudos to the app developers. - The shopping mall was awesome - we visited the coffee shop every day, the ice cream shop and the hamburger and taco restaurants were also great when we needed a break from the buffet. - We never did make it to the gym because we were busy with other activities, but it looked amazing and the number of classes being offered was quite extensive. - The beach was very nice. - The patio/balcony in the room was nice and spacious, and covered. Great for sitting and relaxing for a bit. - I love, love, love the water filters on each floor. Environmentally, this is huge. Our floor had one that was motion sensored, and it did not work. But the one on the other floor had a button. I loved being able to fill my water bottle as often as I wanted, and not searching for water. - I love the small environmentally friendly aspects - soap, lotion, shampoo, etc, all in big bottles. - The service was great everywhere. Everyone that we interacted with was extremely friendly. What we liked/could use improvement: - The rooms were good; basic but just fine. As mentioned by others, there were only 3 plugs, so do bring a power box or something that allows you to charge more than one device in one plug (if you have a lot of devices). - The food was okay. I am not a big eater, so I don't really care - but my daughter was a little disappointed with the buffet. The one thing we would definitely like to see more is guacamole. For some reason we only found guacamole at breakfast. It would have been nice at lunch time and dinner. - We were in block 39 and it was loud with the night-time entertainment until 11pm. If you have young kids, or like to go to bed early, try to get a room further from the Theaters. Luckily the loud music always ended by 11, so it was manageable, but I feel like they could turn it down a touch... Needless to say, we will be back. We definitely recommend this resort, and if you want a slightly more upscale experience, try the Lindu, which is one price-point up from Paraiso Beach. The Del Mar is one price point lower, but I don't know if there are any significant differences between the Del Mar and the Beach.

We've stayed at several Iberostar properties including next door at Lindo, Quetzel, and Selection Bavaro. This resort is very well-managed and goes above and beyond in almost every way. The service is really good in the the buffets, restaurants, at the bars/pools, beach, etc. Food presentation and quality is excellent. The staff works tirelessly round the clock to keep this place ticking like a clock. CLEANLINESS Resort is SPOTLESS. Grounds and rooms are kept immaculate as are the beach and the pools. The groundskeepers work tirelessly keeping the plantings beautiful. Tons of staff always hard at work on the shrubs and fountains around the resort. LOVE the fact that there are no disposable water bottles - so environmentally friendly with water dispensers to refill personal containers. Beach/Pool The week we visited in April – hardly any seaweed and the water is walk-in ready. Really really nice beach. main pool is gorgeous and huge. Chairs available if you get up early or look hard enough although "chair game" is in full swing at 8am. Entertainment The entertainment staff is AMAZING -- tons of energy and always engaging everyone in activities. They genuinely want guests to have fun! The shows at night are ok -- don't expect Broadway productions -- sit back, have a drink. Fire show on the beach is a blast - not to miss!! Gym The gym is great! My husband worked out every day. Also, if you're a walker, this complex is HUGE. Many days we got 20,000 steps just from walking around. For those with mobility issues, shuttles operate efficiently and often. Pickleball -- WHY CHARGE AI GUESTS FOR PADDLES?? Guests spoke up and Iberostar listened by installing courts HOWEVER -- WHY CHARGE $22 FOR PADDLES? Guests choose to stay here because of the fact that all-inclusive resorts DON'T nickel & dime guests...in this case, Iberostar Paraiso is doing the opposite. Why not WELCOME guests to enjoy free pickleball as other resorts do? Ridiculous to charge for cheapie paddles ($40/set) when this is a nominal expense in the big picture. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the USA. The resorts that make it easy (and free) are where this community will vacation. Hoping by the time we book our next Mexico vacation, this property will offer paddles for free otherwise, we'll book elsewhere. BIKES -- speaking of nickel & diming, since when do Iberostar resorts charge for bikes? We've stayed at others and never had to pay for the use of bikes. Not cool. Rooms -- Building 41 is LOUD. When we checked in, I asked if this was the case and was not offered another option. Other than this, our room was always clean by the time we returned around 6:00 pm. Housekeeping was EXCELLENT and we received new towels, etc daily. Minibar was kept full. The safe worked perfectly. Food We are picky healthy eaters and were very happy with the food. So many amazing choices – both healthy and not healthy. Buffets are GORGEOUS and always full of delicious options. Nothing ever runs empty on the buffet even in the later hours. Love the proximity of the lunch buffets to the beach -- super convenient and love the open air dining. We also enjoyed the bars. Try a Tamarind margarita with Jose Cuervo on the rocks - really delicious. Servers in both a-la-cartes and buffet were amazing. If we ordered a drink in the buffet, it came promptly. Plenty of healthy salad topping options available at every meal, which we love. Location Just 30-40 minutes from the airport. Tips/Tips Many people bring their own drink containers with lids to enjoy cold drinks in the pool. Also, bring cheap rafts and inflate them at the resort. Also, suggest bringing plenty of $1/$5 for tips. They are appreciated and a few dollars goes a long way. The Meeting/Timeshare hustle As other reviews mention, its hard to go anywhere without someone trying to rope you into a breakfast presentation or sell you tickets to one of the PAID shows. Disappointing that paid shows seem to overshadow local talent shows. (No more "michael jackson" show for example - loved that one years ago!) All in all – this resort has plenty of staff and other than loud peacocks and nickel & diming -- everything was good. Feel free to DM with any questions.

There was a disaster with the booking through Iberostar who had apparently cancelled it but not told us but the reception eventually sorted it and the rest of our stay was great. The food was good; the facilities good; entertainment fun; kids club fantastic. Big shout out to Emily in the entertainment crew and the whole kids club team, we literally couldn’t drag our kids away!
