Detailed Reviews
We stayed at the Senses Rivera Maya all inclusive for our honeymoon right after Christmas in 2019. The staff there goes above and beyond, specifically Bryan, Sarah, Andrea & Cesear. Our drinks were never empty, the food was amazing and the view is like nothing else I've ever experienced. The resort is very small and very safe. The rooms all face the infinity pool and ocean, it is impossible to describe how beautiful it was. The maid service was impeccable and we truly felt spoiled during our visit. My only recommendation is to bring small bills and a metal straw (they are very environmentally friendly there and I appreciate that!) Thank you Senses Rivera Maya for the amazing memories! We cant wait to come back!

We LOVED our 8 day stay at this small boutique hotel, the food was the best I have ever had in Mexico! The staff was great, very hard workers and made our trip so enjoyable, they went the extra mile to make this a wonderful experience. The head chef Javier Ringa creates every dish to perfection and we really enjoyed meeting him. You can tell his restaurant staff like working with him by the commaderie they shared. Our favorite staff members were Javier, Arnold, David, Bryan and Cristian in the upstairs bar and restaurant; Sarah and Cesar in the mornings in the upstairs restaurant and Angel who was at the poolside and snack bar during the day.
The housekeeping staff left a bit to be desired in that we never received any wash clothes and a hand towel just once. Many times we had to go to the front desk to request bath towels because they were not put in our rooms after cleaning. That was really our only complaint about the place. Fabiano worked during the day in the snack bar/pool area and most of the guests we visited with agreed that she should not be in the service industry. She could be quite rude and had a poor attitude and would even ignore some guests all together. She would probably do better in an area of the hotel where she did not have much interaction with guests.
I would rate this a 5 star hotel if you did not include the housekeeping issues but overall would have to give them 4 stars because of housekeeping.

We visited this hotel earlier this month and we had a fabulous experience. The hotel is amazing, very modern and spotless. The staff is so kind and helpful. The front desk receptionist Humberto gave us a warm welcome and a tour. He also took our luggage to our gorgeous room. Christian and his team at the restaurant were always feeding us with tasty food and making delicious cocktail drinks. Gladys was always on time to clean our room, she made sure that our fridge was stacked with water, sodas, and beer. I had a blast and I am thankful for the whole team who did an outstanding job taking care of us during our stay. I highly recommend this place. Hogla and David :-)

The drive in was a bit sketchy as we drove between buildings and houses on a narrow dirt road. The driver kept assuring us that the hotel was pretty nice. Upon arrival we saw a giant sculpture surrounded by murky water, grass growing in between the stone driveway and a chunk of tile missing from the walk way where they take your temperature. We were greeted by the sweetest hostess, Selene, who promptly checked us in and graciously lead us to our room, #307. The elevators were out of service so we got a workout walking three flights of stairs. The room was huge, clean and the balcony felt as though we were literally sitting over the ocean. There was a bar area in the room but it didn’t have glasses, coffee pot or ice bucket. They said it was stripped out due to Covid along with non functioning ice machines which I understand. The pool restaurant was getting ready to close for dinner service so they kindly boxed our chicken & steak tacos, gave us an ice bucket with drinks that we ate in the room. So far so good BUT when it was time to get ready for dinner there was no hot water (it wasn’t luke warm it was barely different than the cold water). I thought it might just be the shower so I drew a bath and realized the water was bright yellow! After draining the tub there was a yellow film that you had to wipe to get off. That said, we informed the front desk (poor Selene) as we weren’t the only ones requesting hot water. She was very well rehearsed ‘it’s due to the hurricane that came through two weeks ago and they’re working on it it should be fixed soon’. On the way back to our room we ran into a couple that had been there for 6 days and not one day had they had clear, warm water. They said cold showers didn’t bother them and they stayed because the staff was so great. We proceeded with cold, yellow showers praying we wouldn’t catch something. Fast forward 12 hours and still no warm/hot clear water so we moved to the Hilton in Playa Del Carmen. Such a shame this hotel has so much potential and the staff is 5 star!! There’s just a ton of differed maintenance it really seems the owner doesn’t have the cash to keep it going. Other things to note, there’s an $11 (I think that’s the amount) a day tax that’s not included in online reservations, a flat $10 fee for room service, you don’t get premium alcohol unless you added that option on your reservation, there are set time frames to dine in restaurants you text them via What’s App to get approval (shouldn’t be an issue because they’re only at 30% capacity). The beach was mostly washed away and we didn’t see a convenient way to access. The pool was nice and quaint with very attentive service.

Was told I was going to have an opportunity to talk to a manager and never did so I am leaving this public comment in hopes management will see and to warn everyone else from this place, in a week stay we had water leaking from our ceiling and our Air conditioning go out 3 times. Hot tub on the balcony didn't work which I guess is the same for every room since I heard multiple clients complaining about the same thing. One night they moved us to another room the other night they moved us to a room that the A/C was also out so we just went back to our room. When we went back to our other room we found out that they were trying to rent out the same room without A/C which tells me they do not care about customer satisfaction. No hot water late at night im guessing because they have the boiler on a timer which on the last day at 7am we woke up earlier than normal and I was forced to take a cold shower. After day 2 we stopped eating in the restaurant due to multiple dishes coming out cold and then them just reheating the same dish which wouldn't have been a big deal but the location is 20mins taxi from the town with restaurants.

The overall stay at this place was very disappointing. There's absolutely nothing to do besides eating, going to the pool and hanging out in your room. Everything costs extra (Even delivering food to your room which was shocking. Isn't this an all inclusive resort?), everyone expects tips. Trips to the city that are free were boring and we were sworn by local shop owners. Another thing that surprised us was the lack of organization. If you asked for a cleaning service at 10am, you'll have to wait till 3pm even though staff said "in a few minutes". Sheets were smelly, pillows had stains, so did the towels. The food was good but the restaurant doesn't usually have what's on the menu. They are also very surprised when you ask for a slice of toasted bread. We had to listen to horrible music everyday from 8am and on top of that they were renovating next room from morning till very late at night. Guys we stayed there for 2 weeks and it got boring on day 3. Absolutely nothing to do, zero entertainment. You can't even go out without paying 130$ for a taxi. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Better save your money folks.
The only thing that was always on point is the staff. Always friendly and polite.

I booked this for 4 days. Got the honeymoon suite we couldn’t enjoy the hot tub due to the fact that they had no hot water in the room at all we complained and asked if they can please give us some hot water and got a pot and had to do it ourselves since we had an electric stove. Besides the water being very cold it came out orange water. My partner had to put the couch and chair to make pressure on the balcony door because some noise kept being very annoying and the balcony door was extremely had to open we struggled everytime we would want to go to the balcony. People in the restaurant were so nice we had all inclusive but honestly just went for breakfast and dinner once. We would just go there to sleep since we left early and came back late so we could t enjoy time there and when we did we had those issues. If they have 5 stars it must be because of how nice the people in the restaurant are.. front desk was also nice only 1 person. The second person was actually asleep and I had to wake him up to ask him for something.. don’t think we’ll be going back wouldn’t really recommend

the only reason this was not a one star revis is because the staff was very friendly and the food, even with very limited selection, was very tasty. Almost no amenities here compared to most other all inclusive or 4-5 star resorts. Our "mini bar" had 3-5 beers and soda, zero liquor/wine/snacks. shower and tubs NEVER had hot water once. we were excited when it got luke warm for a couple seconds. mostly it was cold showers the entire time. never got to use our tub due to this. air conditioning didnt work well enough to keep room cool overnight. a party happened at a nearby room that was one of the loudest ive ever heard. from 2am til 5am they played music as loud as they possibly could and screamed and slammed things. hotel never intervened. Same party was at breakfast the next morning with their stereo cranked up in the eating area. the staff did nothing. Very limited food options every night one main course to choose from at times. single restaurant in the evening, single bar during day with snacks.room service must be paid for. rooms are roomy but essentially a giant concrete box, the wall was flaking when we first arrived and they came in and patched it while we were there. the plunge pool was not full when we arrived. they turned it on and left. had to get on hands and knees to reach into hole and turn it off. no robes given, not sandals given. building is in clear need of repair. no spa, lost power at one point for a couple hours. nude area has no seating, tubs were all shut down. The safe in the room also did not function
This is nowhere NEAR a 5 star hotel. I dont have any idea how this rating was ever given. nothing about this place says luxury in any way. stay somewhere that has tennis courts, games, more to do, more food/drinks/ice cream! we walked through an all inclusive a couple blocks down the beach and were amazed at comparison. I would say this is a 2-3 star hotel at best.

My friend and I wanted to rest, enjoy a long weekend in a relatively quiet resort, nothing massive and this is the perfect place for that, we were actually the only two friends staying, the rest were couples and the staff told us they were full. So if you're looking for a quiet, romantic getaway with your partner with mind-blowing views, this is the way to go.
Food was DELICIOUS, I'm a very picky eater because I've traveled a little bit and I know what's good and what isn't, what dishes have been prepared with care and quality. I even congratulated the chef. A resort that understands the importance of feeding guests well is worth visiting, there were dishes that I liked more than others (I tried to order something different every day) but overall the food was very tasty, I love fish, I had the mahi mahi on my last dinner and at the end I literally wanted to lick the plate. The side vegetables had perfect texture and temperature, loved it. Hams and cheeses at breakfast can definitely improve. Drinks were great too, anything you crave they have.
Service was excellent, Cinthya, David, Eduardo, Sarah were amazing with us, they provided that high level service regardless of the tips and that says a lot about them. Everyone was kind, friendly, accommodating, I didn't learn all their names but from the receptionist in the lobby to the guy that brought me towels at the jacuzzi section, to the maintenance guy that came to fill the tub in the balcony. Kudos to all of you guys, you really make us feel comfortable and welcome.
The facility is beautiful, the room was GIGANTIC and super neat. We loved the decoration and room 202 was working perfectly, the huge shower, the toilet, the jacuzzi, the sinks, everything. The bed was very comfy and I slept like a baby. The view of the ocean from the balcony of the suite cannot be beat, you can stare at it forever. Riviera Maya is a paradise in this world. This is the 7th time I come and I can't get enough of it.
Thank you Senses!

We arrived at the hotel expecting a nice couple's vacation for a week. Upon arrival our reception was lukewarm at best it took a few hours to get the Room ready we had a quick lunch while waiting. The restaurant and menu choices are extremely limited additionally the food is horrible. After lunch we hoped For better experience once we were checked in. The rooms are beautiful that's where anything nice about this place ends. Get to the rooms are large and really nice although little worn. The coffee machine had a disgusting film and it like it had never been cleaned which was the 1st thing I pointed out while checking in. The hotel does not have a beach Although there are nice beaches to the left and right. We went for dinner that evening there are only 2 restaurants in the hotel one is abar with limited bar food. We sat there and waited for someone to service but the waiter completely ignored us. We went to the next restaurant where we ate lunch again the menu is limited and the food is horrible in money absolutely horrible this is anything but a gourmet experience as advertised. After eating dinner that night we decided we wanted to leave the next morning 1st thing in the morning I went to the front desk and he did everything to try and convince is to stay as we decided we were leaving and told them it was not an option because of the Food quality they told us they were charging us to extra days as a penalty. They were rude and everyone there seems to have learned their hospitality from working in hostels. I would give this place zero stars if i could. Believe the other bad reviews they are true.
