The first room we were offered was very small with no window. The junior suite costed more, was, however a good investment..Half-board was also extremely tasty. Personnel utmost friendly and obliging. The hotel's entrance hall is wonderful. Plenty of night life on the plaza. The nightly invasion of small birds on and around the plaza was also an experience.

This is a great hotel and a good stopping place if you're venturing further afield. Probably the only negative things I would note are the rooms can be pretty noisy if you want an early night (as they all front onto the atrium/restaraunt area) and you should never ask the concierge to organise you a taxi back to Havana. Apart... More

I was looking forward to my stay here given reviews I'd read and write-up in Lonely Planet. The hotel seems to have been renovated well. However, the cleaning of rooms or anywhere in the hotel is clearly not a priority of theirs. My first impression was of a dirty reception desk with dusty printer and keyboard. There was a layer... At the heart of Matanza city this hotel is a wonderful find. Lots of old world charm field of hospitality and staff that aim to please. Complementary breakfast in the morning is as good as any resort I've been to. This little hotel is definitely my go to spot.

The hotel is beautiful. The staff is very nice. The location is very convenient right in the center of town. The bar area is nice as well and they have very affordable drinks. The lobby is wide open as well and when I was there a cute puppy ran in the lobby and licked my leg. I would highly recommend... More

This magnificent hotel has been restored but in a way that keeps its history and beauty intact. The floor tiles and the beautiful, (mostly I think original) features are just like walking through history. We booked one night only as a treat and enjoyed every minute. Didn't have any problem with noise and our rooms overlooked the square. Being in... More

Clean room, comfortable bed and wifi in room and lobby. Excellent hotel if you want to stay away from the massive all-inclusive tourism in Varadero and discover the real Cuba. It's located in middle of Matanzas. Okay, there is traffic in front of the hotel, but for us it was not bothersome. Taxi to the airport cost about 20-25 CUC.... More

We had a noisy room, facing the square across the road. Yes the traffic is insistent but the people noise takes it to another level. Until 3 in the morning there is yelling, shouting, singing and partying from the square. Having said that it's nothing that a pair of ear plugs can't fix. If you think it's going to be... More
