We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions over the years. Modern hotel with free secure underground parking. Staff always very helpful. A short walk to the pedestrian precinct. Next door their is an indoor shopping complex with fast food outlets. You would not know it was even there.
This is a recently restored building from the 19th Century, which is now a lovely hotel with very pleasant rooms and wonderful staff. Outside, on the side of the D Carlos park (great to walk in) is an excellent place to sit under the umbrellas for coffee or a drink.
From the outside this hotel looks nice. The rooms are dark, not just dark, but very dark furnishings, and creepy mannequins at the end of each hallway, I guess representing the history, but creepy the way it’s presented. Changed rooms because the first room had black mold on the drapes and around the windows, and well the second room had the same on the drapes as well. Clearly there is an issue with mold in this hotel that needs to be addressed as this is a health issue, and not par for a 4 star establishment. Found the front desk staff very blah not much enthusiasm and kindness, the food and beverage was better staff and Suazy, was one of the only staff members that was very kind and accommodating. A big shame in my opinion this property for SANA, obviously needing new management. Had booked for three nights and by the morning could not take anymore of it, and asked for a refund for the other nights, which was given in the end. …
Truly superb! Outstanding location too, with the ´Must See´park exactly opposite the hotel, a must see attraction when in Caldas. Staff were excellent and friendly, clean and safe rooms, fabulous food and at a good price. When we return to Portugal we will definitely book this hotel again.
My wife and I stayed at the SANA Silver Coast Hotel Caldas da Rainha: Fri 22 Nov – Sun 24 Nov Unfortunately, this was the least favorite hotel of the 9 where we stayed. The person at Reception was rather abrupt and the service staff at breakfast was also not approachable. This is a shame as some other things were great e.g. breakfast plates were nice and hot and the breakfast selection was good. The only person smiling at us was “the lady in blue” i.e. Candida I will rather visit another hotel at our next stay in Caldas da Rainha which is a beautiful area.
