My wife and me decided to go on a weekend trip without our kids and we chose Villa Lario because of the good recommendations online and the fact that the villa has only 7 rooms so we thought it will be small, quiet and cozy but still luxurious. We were really surprised of what we saw when we arrived especially of the rooms because we think the pictures online do not represent the absolute high standing quality of materials that are used in the rooms. Everything works fine, every detail is well-thought-out, the rooms feel just so comfortable that you dont want to leave any more. There was no money spared when this villa was renovated ..only the best materials were chosen. Impressing are for example the 3meter windows of the restaurant to the terrace which do not open like a normal door but rather sink down into the floor and disappear in the ground!! As we were arriving very late (after 22pm when the reception normally closes) we had a in room dining which was fantastic. For breakfast you can chose on a menu whatever you want as much as you want and everything tastes just great. The fruits are fresh and look delicious, the pastries taste like heaven and the service is superb. Here I want to give a special thanks to Federico which in our eyes did an extremely good job. We can easily see him in a senior position in a few years, he was behaving very professional and obliging. We have been to many 5 stars resorts around the world but he treated us (and the other guests) very special...you just feel good when he treats you. Same goes with Lurde, the receptionist who helps you with every question, is very polite and works very efficient and thoroughly. When we arrived she made several calls to make a reservation in a restaurant, unfortunately we arrived too late so we had to cancel this. The hotel can be very happy to have these two employees although we have to say that we had no negative experience with any of the employees. The access to the beach is phenomenal. We brought our two Stand Up Paddles and could leave them in a quite corner so we could use them whenever we wanted. The pool area offers a shower and modern toilets and changing rooms. Drinks and snacks can be ordered via a phone which is there for the guests. The water temperature beginning of August was 27 degrees. We hope to come back when we have the possibility to travel without kids. We would not feel comfortable with 2 small kids at the pool when the other guests are looking for peace and silence (it was really very peaceful and a nice atmosphere at the pool). When booking in advance, guests should pay close attention to the hotel's advertisement. Some suites are located outside the building and can only be reached via gravel paths and very narrow stairs. This is not apparent on the website. The service is adequate overall; does that justify the price? We thought the hotel was appropriate for the CEO who wants to impress the receptionist or business partners. We prefer a normal 5-star hotel with a * kitchen.

Quite possibly the best place I’ve ever stayed. I’ve travelled extensively around the world and stayed at many lovely places but Villa Lario del Mandello has left me speechless. The Villa, room, pool and services were all exceptional but it is the location and setting that takes your breath away. It feels very exclusive, private and peaceful, and with only a few rooms in the Villa it is unlikely that peace will ever get interrupted. We had the Tivano room which has its own private garden and access to the beach. We ate breakfast in our private garden overlooking the lake every morning, simply awesome! Our room was large with tasteful decor with an amazing view of the lake that you can see whilst lying in bed. I simply have no words how special Villa Lario del Mandello is. I will most definitely return.

Always wanting to stay in Lake Como, we planned a trip and booked this intimate place for 8 nights. Though the pictures are absolutely gorgeous, seeing this oasis in person, is more breathtaking. Privacy, caves, gazebos, pool, and place is limited to just about 7 rooms. The service was excellent and Lurdes and Sara were very helpful wth cabs, and setting up anything we asked to do. The rooms are gorgeous and the beds are super comfortable. I will never forget this vacation ever.

Villa Lario is an unexpected gem. Until you get there it is impossible to appreciate the beauty of the Villa and the grounds and the stunning proximity to the lake. At the same time you are 15 minutes from Varenna and a ferry to anywhere. So after a day of sightseeing you can retreat to your own oasis.
Once you are there the rooms are fabulous - two of the suites are actually almost on the water line. And the service is incredible. Breakfast, lunch are excellent and you can have them anywhere you like. Dinner is for foodies - served on the terrace with a sweeping view of the lake and very creative.
We cannot fault Villa Lario. Our huge thanks to Djibril and Lurde who made everything seamless and to Ahmad and team who bent over backwards to attend to our every need.

Celebrated my birthday at this very special resort. The staff went above and beyond to make our two days here extraordinary! Our private boat picked us up right at their dock and we had a beautiful day visiting the other towns on the lake. We all agreed we were so glad we chose to stay away from the crowds at Villa Lario. Everything was perfect, from breakfast to evening meal, whether at the gourmet restaurant or the grill lounge restaurant. Same goes for lunch. My husband and I booked a short stay in Como to celebrate our 10yr wedding anniversary and chose to stay at Villa Lario - we were not disappointed. The setting is truly serene serving up the best views of the lake from our bedroom terrace. I cannot praise Lurde enough who offered the most amazing customer service I have ever received starting weeks before our visit as I looked to plan details out of our little trip. She responds immediately and always incredibly helpful. The staff appear the moment you consider you may need their services, almost as if a telepathic call was sent out whatever the need; towels by the pool, drinks on the terrace… If only we weren’t already married, I’d be booking this place to celebrate it all over again.
