Sadly we only had one night here on a walking tour which happened to be in Cannara on a Tuesday - bad move as the town closes that day. The accommodation though was spectacular. We were directed here through some back streets into a large courtyard area - the Palazzo is off this with its own yard area with some...

We stayed only 1 night at the Palazzo, but Angela's family welcomed us warmly. The palazzo is lovely and large. Our GPS had trouble finding the address and we were forced to stop by the road leading into the old town, and ask directions from a couple who were walking by. They spoke no English but between them and our...

I can't wait to come back! Such a great place in Cannara, a cute little town about 10 minutes outside of Assisi. Also close to Deruta and various wineries, including Terre Margaritelli. The rooms are huge and have the original frescos on the ceiling. Angela and her family were extremely accommodating and her breakfast spread was super fantastic.

My friend and I stayed at the Palazzo delle Signorine and had the best time with Angela. She made our stay unbelievably welcoming and each morning we woke to a lovely and huge breakfast. This is *the* place to stay in Cannara, a small town in Umbria which is an excellent base from which to visit Assisi, Spello, Deruta, Bevagna and the wine region of Montefalco. There 2 beautiful rooms as well as a holiday flat in this lovingly cared for palazzo. Old fashioned elegance with the convenience of modern [spotlessly clean] bathrooms. The...

My family and I rented out the entire Palazzo delle Signorine as a villa (it is usually a b&b) and it was fantastic!  The rooms are not only beautiful, with frescoed ceilings, but they are ENORMOUS and each one has a large modern bathroom as well.  A welcome change after the closets they call rooms in Rome!  Plus there was...

Staying here was a highlight of our accommodations in Italy. We were warmly welcomed by the owner's parents, who made communication possible even though they spoke no English. Jennifer, a chef, spent considerable time orienting us to the area, including recommendations to excellent restaurants. Angela, the owner, is gracious and kind. Her home is even more lovely than the photos...

Forget Tuscany, Umbria is the real deal: gorgeous country, great food, picturesque hill towns, incredible wine and olive oil, and at a fraction of the price and with a fraction of the tourists. Palazzo delle Signore is situated in a town central to Assisi, Perugia, Deruta, Gubbio, and more. Our room was large with 200 year-old paintings on the ceiling,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Palazzo delle Signorine is an elegant aristocratic house from the mid 1700s located in the charming medieval town of Cannara, famous for it’s annual onion festival. It was originally owned by two sisters, noblewomen, who never married and lived a reserved and mysterious life within the walls of the villa. Completely restructured by the current owners, today the Palazzo offers elegance and comfort in a warm and cordial atmosphere. The structure consists of three bedrooms, each with private bath and an independent apartment, as well as spacious common areas both inside and out. Immersed in the heart of the tranquil Umbrian countryside, Palazzo delle Signorine is minutes from the most beautiful villages of the area such as Assisi, Spello, Montefalco and Bevagna and within an hour’s drive of Perugia, Norcia and Orvieto – the perfect sojourn for your Umbrian holiday! Palazzo delle Signorine is comprised of three spacious bedrooms, each with private bath, and one apartment for vacation rentals only. Within the villa there is also ample communal space: a large eat-in kitchen where we frequently hold cooking classes and other events, as well as a separate dining room with working fireplace, and a sun room which overlooks the internal courtyard. There is even a small chapel, once used by the nobles of the town! ... more   less
