Le Grand Meaulnes was by far our favourite hotel on our 2 week trip. The hotel was a bit hard to find at first. It's about a 1km walk from the Habarana intersection. We had to call the hotel to find it. But when we got there, we were more than satisfied. The room was huge and we were greeted...

Very nice stay at this lodge. We enjoyed the large rooms. We stayed two nights and had diner both nights (Diner: 1100 Roupies per person not included but worth having). They can organize Safari at Hurulu Eco park which is a great park, less expensive than south national parks (Udawalawe and Yala) and contains many elephants. Kind hosts with many...

This hotel is run by a guy who lived for 3 years in France and therefore speaks both French and English. His cook is amazing and you should try the evening meals, which, although More expensive than local restaurants, are excellent and, of course convenient. Dinner was about SRps4,500 for two of us include a drink or two. Room was...

Firstly all the positives. The rooms are very clean, there is plenty of hot water, the air conditioning is fantastic and the western breakfast was nice. Now this may sound a little picky but the breakfast area was in the direct sunlight and for me the heat and humidity even at 8:00 am was too much to handle. Also the...

If you are looking for a place to stay in Habarana, near Dambulla and the Sigriya Rock, then this is the place to be. Situated in a private area, surrounded by plants, trees and greenery, this hotel was a great choice for my husband and me. The room was clean and spacious, some old furniture were placed. Just beware of...

It is a lovely place to stay for a couple of nights - but it is more secluded location. We used this as our base to see various attractions located close by (Dambulla, Sighirya, etc) and as such it was a great location. Also - there is an amazing ayurvedic SPA that was recommended (and booked by the hotel) that...

We stayed here for one evening and had a very pleasant stay. The owner and all the staff were very helpful and kind and the room was clean and large. The bathroom was OK and the food very good. We ate dinner outside on the terrace and had the rice and curry (with a local cocktail to start which nearly...

We stayed at Le Grand Meaulnes for two days. Its location was convenient for us since it was a short drive to Polonnaruwa, Sigirya and Dambulla for us. We had delicious dinner prepared by the staff at an additional charge - completely worth the money. Pros: 1. Very clean rooms 2. Friendly staff 3. Helpful host 4. Convenient distance to...

We stayed here for four nights and the service we received here was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The manager is a warm and friendly person who was very happy to converse with us but was not obtrusive. Our room was spacious, very clean and simply but attractively furnished. The air conditioning worked well and the ceiling fan...

First thing I would recommend is to consider booking in advance in Internet as the prices you may be said while you arrive without doing this may be much higher. We used our internet connection to book via Internet right there. Apart of this very nice place to stay in. Clean (you may only find frogs in your bathroom but...
