We didn't have a driver when we stayed at Mutu village, the staff there are really helpful and will arrange an itinerary for you so that you can see all the sites with a tuk tuk (so much cheaper that way). They can also help you to arrange an elephant safari which I highly recommend.
We got the bus from Habarana to Kandy (but taxi into Habarana from Negombo), the journey took around 3 hours and was totally fine. If you let them know at Mutu when you expect to arrive I think they would probably arrange for a tuktuk to pick you up from the bus stop. If you contact them in advance of your arrival I'm sure they will be really happy to answer any questions and discuss your itinerary.
Enjoy your time there and the delicious curries!
Hope this is helpful.
