Wonderful Suite hotel, clean and friendly. Rooms are large, beds are comfortable many have kitchenettes. Living areas are secure with card access limited to staff and guests. A large kitchen / dining area for guest allows you to cook for yourself, refrigerators are available for the guests use, along with stove, oven, microwave, etc. Coffee, Tea and breakfast sandwiches are provided. On my recent stay, the Governor General of Canada also stayed there. Good enough for the GG, good enough for anyone. They also have trucks for rent.
Diane and her staff are the best, always smiling and ready to help

Room Tip: If you don't get a kitchenette, stay on the second floors so you're close to the kitchen....

Anyone who has travelled to Rankin knows the accommodations can be a little...suspect.
That is until the arrival of Katimavik Suites.

Clean, well appointed, comfortable.

Karen is lovely and always willing to help. She will pick you up at the airport if you call.

I had a kitchenette suite for 1 week. Made all my meals in my room for the week. Fridge, cook top, sink. Perfect.

My only criticism, and it's a small one, there were no black out curtains while the sun was up for 21 hrs a day. This won't be an issue for much of the year.

Highly highly recommend.

As most of my reviews go, my work brought me to Rankin Inlet, Nunavut this time.

I did my usual research work on the town I would visit. Most reviews were great for Katimavik suites, so I had my expectations at a good level.

My expectations were blown away. Katimavik was and is my favourite hotel I have stayed at.

You definitely have to take into consideration on where you are. Rankin Inlet is very remote. Flights come in frequently, the weather cooperating with scheduled flights is another thing.

Supplies (food, cigarettes, drinks) are very expensive in northern towns. Rankin is one of those towns. I packed food knowing I had a kitchenette. It was perfect for my month stay. The continental breakfast had everything I needed to start my mornings on a good start.

My room was amazing. Great view of Hudson Bay. Really comfortable bed. Nice couch. Satellite TV. Wifi is as good as you're going to get that far up north. I actually had no service on my cell.

On a whole. The month was a joy for me. Great project completed. And my stay was simply a large part of our success. Really good accomadations makes your time away from home feel like home.

Diane and the staff at Katimavik are my home in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. I cannot thank Diane enough for making my stay in Rankin an unforgettable adventure.

Thanks again and see you soon!!!

Katimavik appears to be a really new hotel in Rankin. Everything is clean and working. They have a shared kitchen so you can make your own meals if you wish. In the morning, a complimentary continental breakfast is available which allows you to make your own egg breakfast or have cold cereals and bread items. If you let them know before 5:30 in the evening, they can provide you with a frozen entree that you can microwave in your own room at a reasonable "Northern" price. I had the lasagna one night and the roast chicken the next night and they were both quite nice.

Best of all is the staff! They are very welcoming and friendly. Karen picked up at the airport (a direct phone line at the airport) when I arrived and Brenda provided the local advice when I needed it.

I echo the other travelers comments on this property. Clean, friendly staff, with a great shared kitchen for meals and relaxing with fellow travelers. This hotel seem to be the best I have seen so far in Rankin Inlet. Free internet but not always fast which is typical in the North. Nice to have for business travel.

Better than others places to stay so far in this Hamlet. Remember, this is a dry Hamlet so no alcohol to purchase unless you stay in hotel which offers it. Nice walk around the Hamlet, just across from the only hospital in town. You can see the power plant, bay and fishing boats.

I was given one of the suites and it was wonderful. Very nice property that I highly recommend!

Merci.

A great hotel in Rankin Inlet. Clean, comfortable, with good service and a decent location. I really enjoy the communal kitchens and in-room microwaves and mini-fridges. Traveling for business it can be hard to eat healthy at restaurants all the time, and this gives me the option of occasionally cooking for myself. The included breakfast is certainly handy as well.
I always get great service from the staff, including airport pickup and dropoff, which is great when time is tight. This is my go-to place to stay whenever I'm in Rankin Inlet.

Was supposed to overnight in Rankin Inlet before flying onto another community, but got stuck an extra day in town due to flight cancellations related to weather. Spent two nights here, and found the property to be excellent, with modern, very clean rooms. The staff, especially Diane, were incredibly kind and helpful. On my first night I arrived after 6 PM and all restaurants were closed. Diane kindly allowed me to order off their quick choices menu and provided me with a roast beef dinner that was very good. I would gladly stay here again.

"The times I have stayed here I've been in different rooms but never had issues, they're all quiet and the hotel is by the bay so you can look out the window and see the water (or ice depending on the time of year)."
