The Hotel Santos Porta Fira**** is a work of the famous Japanese architect Toyo Ito, well-known for creating other designs including the extension of Barcelona’s Fira Gran Via. In 2010 the hotel won the prestigious architectural “EMPORIS AWARD” for being the best skyscraper in the world. The modern and cutting edge building which simulates a lotus flower, has 24 floors and a height of 110 meters thanks to which it is recognized as one of the architectural icons of the city and part of the Barcelona skyline. Our clients can expect 311 modern designed and spacious rooms, the restaurant “Spiral” offering finest cuisine and a wellness area. Our meeting rooms with a highly multifunctional plenary room offering a well-lit space of 800 m², which can be divided by panels and a height of 5 meters, are making the Hotel Porta Fira ideal for hosting any type of event. Thanks to its features but also the proximity to the airport El Prat and the fairgrounds the new property of the Santos Hotels range has a major attraction for the world of business.

Hotel Porta Fira stands out for its cleanliness and has been consistently recognized by many travelers for its well-maintained rooms, ensuring a comfortable retreat. The hotel's location is a hit among guests, who appreciate the easy access to transportation and nearby event venues. The service is lauded for being friendly and attentive, contributing to the hotel's welcoming atmosphere, although the bar area receives mixed reviews due to its ambiance. I stayed at this hotel 4 times in 2021 as I has 2 cruises departing from Barcelona, every trip was perfect and the price was very reasonable. I was able to check in very early on the days after the cruises which was very helpful and was a serious benefit

It is a very easy to find hotel as it is a red skyscraper while everything in the area is standard concerete grey

The first thing that you notice when you go into your room is that the bathroom is the main focal point in the room as it is a glass room in the middle of the room. The only issue I had was that in each of the 4 rooms I stayed in the floor of the bathroom got very wet as the shower section doesn't seem to be sealed to prevent the water from going into the main bathroom area

The hotel was busy enough but there was no noise so it was a perfect place to stay before and after a cruise

As for location the hotel is convenient for Barcelona city and the airport, it is around 2 mins walk from the Europa Fira metro station which serves the L9 Sud metro line as well as a number of outer suburban services which also go into Barcelona city centre. The Gran Via 2 shopping centre is around 5 minutes walk and it has everything you could need, there is also an Ikea next door if you want some Swedish food

I was very impressed with my stay at Hotel Porta Fira. The room was comfortable and had a great view of the city. Staff were very helpful and welcoming. My girlfriend made good use of the gym and sauna and they did not try and charge us extra for this. They also allowed me to check out at 2pm for free, well later than most hotels would typically offer.

The only minor blip was one member of staff telling me I was not allowed to sit on the floor in the hallway at 1am. I did this because I didn't want to disturb my partner who was sleeping. If I want to sit outside my room I have every right to do so, especially in the middle of the night.

Apart from that an excellent stay at an interesting hotel.

For the price you get really nice room with amazing view, modern technologies and furniture, sadly you can’t connect TV to the wifi. Staff was nice and kind anytime I asked about something. The only downside is it’s a bit further from center.

This is a good hotel but in a bad location, half way between the airport and center.
The rooms are somehow awkwardly designed.
Discovery. The toilet and the shower are in two separate sides, in a glass enclosure each. Not until the last night that we discovered you can open both doors and join them to make an entire enclosed bathroom.
Outlets. NO USB anywhere, bring your Spanish electrical adapters. Reception was nice enough to lend us 2 !!! 2 for 3 people, each with an iPhone, computer, and other gadgets to charge. And one of them wasn’t working properly so I had to put a bottle of water under it in order to not fall.
Breakfast is not included !!! It’s $17 for a small buffet. There is a McDonald for anyone who likes that, but we had bfast in the center every day.
The good thing is that it’s 15 min from airport so for early flights it’s very convenient.
Taxis to Ramblas is about $15.
There is also an IKEA next door for anyone moving to Barcelona and getting ready.
Reception people were very nice, they even helped us with visits tickets. You cannot buy any tickets at the places you plan to visit, ONLY online and websites usually collapse.
Every cathedral, exhibit, etc….charges. Nothing is free, so have an itinerary and buy tickets way in advance.
Overall I would give a 3-4 of 5 simply because it’s a nicer hotel than what you can get in the center with bigger room and shower.

Second time in this fabulous tower-like hotel designed by a famous Japanese architect. The red building is truly amazing, it has the atmosphere evocative of an 80's party, and everything you need for a pleasant stay such as a delicious breakfast, a quiet and spacious room, and a beautiful sauna and gym. The train to Montserrat L8 (pink line) and the metro station L3 is just in front of the hotel. This is a perfect hotel if you want to stay in a quiet area in Barcelona near shopping malls and the airport (less than 10 minutes by taxi). I suggest going to eat to the nearby Baskònia Restaurant. The food there is delicious.
We will be back for sure in this elegant and quiet hotel.

We stayed at the Porta Fira simply because of hotel could not accomadate us for the first night of our stay. We had seen the impressive exterior of the building having stayed at other hotels in the Fira area before.
The hotel is very good if you are attending some event in Barcelona's Fira and that is it.
I don't tthink it deserves 4 stars for the following reasons: it is located outside the center of Barcelona with nothing around it (no restaurants of shopping) except the Gran Via 2 shopping mall (15-20 minute walk). The corridors of each floors are so dark that you almost need at flashlight to find your room. The room are modernists but far from pratical with the bathroom in 3 parts and a luggage stand that is suppose to serve as a clothes hanging device too. The closest transport is 3 minutes away. Bus to plaza Espanya will take about 10-15 minutes. Metro L9 is almostt almost gran via 2, so 15 minutes walk.
For that price, one can find better located hotels. Staff is correct but again, not more than in other hotels. Whenever we decided to stay around Fira it was becausd the hotels were low price, not the case here.
All in all, if you are not attending anyway in Fira or need a hotel not too far from the airport, find another accomodation that will give you better value.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. Regarding the location comments, we are pleased to inform you that we have the metro station just 2 minutes walking away from the hotel. Also we would like to inform you that we have other options for bigger rooms or different decorations like Privilege or Privilege Class. We would like to recommend you that for your next visit you reserve one of these type of rooms, that we hope we will fulfill your expectations. Sincerely, Staff Hotel Porta Fira

The building stands out for its architecture and color. The location is ideal, with a metro station right next to the hotel. The stay was very pleasant, the breakfast delicious, the room silent and spacious, the cleanliness deserves a positive note. This is a perfect hotel if you want to stay in a quiet area of Barcelona, close to the airport and the metro, with private parking for those traveling by car (one of the reasons that led me to choose this hotel). Some limitations were noted in the staff in terms of reception and breakfast restaurant, implying some delay in service, nothing that is not tolerable. I definitely recommend this elegant and quiet hotel.

Dirty room, smelly shower. Stood on dirty toenail! Water leaked from shower across room to toilet. Breakfast staff closed main seating, to set-up for lunch, 40mins early or asked you not to sit there.

First impressions were great. But for a baby bed, the bed was poor, just a duvet without a duvet cover. Most of the questions were about cleaning. The cleaning lady took away the soap and did not put in a new one, did not replenish tea supplies, and for the last three days she only made the bed from cleaning. There was a thick layer of dust on the tables and under the beds as we packed our bags. But in general the hotel is stylish, the soundproofing is good.
