Travellers' Choice
The hotel Hirschen offers you 15 individually furnished guest rooms with art, design and antiques and free WLAN in all areas of the hotel. Besides there is a high class restaurant for fine dining that gives you a nice variation of regional specialities accompanied by a good glass of wine out of Mr. Fetz's large and special wine cellar. Wednesday and Thursday the a la carte restaurant is closed, but hotel guests are spoiled with a small choice of regional specialities. The wooden made "Walderhaus", a dependence located just behind the hotel offers another 18 comfortable and quiet rooms and appartements, fitness facilities, a garage and special spaces for meetings and conferences. Also the nice garden in between is loved by our guests as relaxing area. The Hotel Gasthof Hirschen is situated in the heart of a picturesque valley in western Austria at the border line to Switzerland between the Arlberg and the lake of Constance called Bregenzerwald. This mountain area offers green untouched nature and invites you to relax, breath fresh air and explore hiking, walking, running or biking. The charming village itself - Schwarzenberg - is classified as a historical precinet and is recommended as one of the most attractive villages in Austria. The closest city is Dornbirn, about 15 km away, Bregenz, at the shore of the lake of Constance, with its famous performances during the Bregenz festival right on the lake is close. The well known Arlberg skiing area is in about 45 minutes available by car. Closer skiing areas are Mellau-Damuls and Bodele - Hochalpele, from where you can ski right down to the hotel if there is enough snow. Constructed in 1757 in wooden baroque style the Gasthof Hirschen has been owned by the same family for 8 generations and has given hospitality to many visitors, celebrities (King Maximilian II. of Bavaria stayed here in 1855) and artists for more than 2 centuries. And although some renovations have been done, the spirit and character are still the same. See you soon in Schwarzenberg!

Traditional and family-run, yet stylish and inspiring. Access to local pool and excellent location / access to hiking routes. Also, very family-friendly. Great food and service for breakfast and dinner. Nice pieces of art all across the hotel. We will definitely return.

We stayed 5 days in this little gem. The historic building is fantastic. We stayed in the Max Suite which is a wonderful and beautiful decorated room. The breakfast is such a treat every morning, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves every time. The amazing service and the best fried eggs imaginable. I don’t think any egg can beat it. The fresh herbs, cheese and greens they use are so tasteful, the coffee is a dream. We can surely recommend this place for an unforgettable stay. However I like to mention one thing, if you are a light sleeper or are seeking a noise free Room..I would suggest NOT to stay in the Max Suite. This room, although my favorite of all especially the bathroom, is on the first floor in the historic building overlooking the village square/church on one side and the terrace/Stube on the other side. This means - in summer with the windows open, there is no airco , that you will hear chatter laughter and noise from the garden/terrace if you are unlucky until far after midnight. My husband had no problem with this, but I myself being a light sleeper had to wear earplugs to fall asleep. Next time we may consider staying in the other building if that means it is more quiet there.

Small room at the corner dependance building , very hot inside, nice main building. Parking was terrible and long walk from it to get luggage in the room. Food was nice , personnel is average. Lot of traffic around the hotel because it is directly located at a main road. I got the bill for a table where we took some drinks and was assumed by the hotel that all people on that table Was belonging to us. We payed for it...
