This is it - this is your ranch, only four hours from Vancouver, Canada! Whether you're looking for a horseback riding holiday with a bit of adventure, a family vacation at a dude ranch where even the kids will have fun, or just some place new where you can really get away from it all, you've found it. Sundance Guest Ranch is located in the warmest, sunniest spot in Canada with sweeping, panoramic views of the wide open Thompson River Valley that are so beautiful, they're ridiculous... but that's not it. Sundance Guest Ranch is just an easy four hour drive from Vancouver, Canada, making us a perfect weekend getaway destination... but that's not it. Sundance Guest Ranch serves absolutely amazing food that goes well beyond what you might expect from a "dude ranch"... but that's not it either. Sundance Guest Ranch runs a herd of over 100 happy, well-cared-for horses with thousands of acres of spectacular and varied terrain to explore, and the horseback riding is truly wonderful, whether you're looking for relaxing, instructive or exciting... but even that's not it. When you've just gotten back from a ride, and you're sitting on the lounge deck with your favourite drink in your hand, watching the herd gallop out to the field for the night and laughing with someone you've known ten minutes like you've known them ten years... lean back, put a foot up on the railing and look around... you're close, close to knowing why we say: "The first time, it's a vacation - after that, it's coming home."

I cannot say enough good things about Sundance Guest Ranch. As a visitor for the first time last year, my impression prior to arriving was that it was kind of expensive, but after experiencing Sundance I can honestly say it is great value for the experience received. We came back this year and will continue to book with Sundance year over year. The ranch cares deeply about their guests experience and the staff go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The rooms have air conditioning which is great during the warmer months. Food is amazing and the horseback riding has a lot of variety and the staff work hard to find a horse that fits your riding needs (even as they improve over the weekend). If you are able to go on a shoulder season - April, May, Sept, October, I would suggest this as temperatures will be more manageable and riding group sizes may be smaller (which I have found is preferred as you get to run longer!). Overall, amazing experience and I can't wait to go back soon!

The Hands, Keepers and Support staff work so hard to keep the grounds, the buildings, and services in top form and are always eager to help the guests in a pinch. The Wranglers are all so wonderful. Easily adapting their approach to guiding the “newbie” and well-accomplished riders. The Galley staff provided a wonderful variety of nutritious and nourishing meals. Even in the face of pandemic restrictions, they managed to make guest dining COVID-safe AND an always enjoyable social experience. Fine food, good company, and a spectacular view. There was so much to do when not riding. Watching the cutting, baling, and stacking stages of haying from the dining hall porch with that spectacular landscape view was so relaxing. The near-daily early morning ‘jingle’ of horses returning from the hayfield to the barn paddock or in the evening going out to the hayfield is five minutes of pure splendour as they go past in their magnificent beauty. Breath-taking, really. Of course, the poolside sun-bathing (or shade-lounging), free access to the adult-only Lounge and the occasional evening line-dancing provides an excellent opportunity to meet and socialize with other guests.

Had such a wonderful time here the wranglers are amazing and the food was great. The chef went out of his way to make sure our picky 8/9 year olds got something to eat they liked. Well taken care of horses and grounds relaxing and peaceful even a pool to take a swim what more could you ask for. We will be back.

We arrived for a two night stay for the ranch season opening - and received a warm welcome back by everyone. Many were regulars like us and we caught up each others news. The weather was spectacular allowing shirt sleeve rides on trails in the sunlight. The horses were incredible - so calm and yet you could tell they were as excited as the people to get onto the trails. I rode a horse new-to-me, a gentle giant with lots of get up and go. Husband rode his favourite and we rode with a small group of people who loved their horses as well. The rides were varied: meadows, valleys and scenic vistas, exciting runs and interesting chatter as we returned to the ranch. The food was incredible - hats off to the new chef Daniel and Mary - they handled all the food choices extremely well, including my celiac disease. We could eat outdoors or in our rooms - most ate outdoors. The covid protocols were carefully thought out and we felt safe at all times. And although we couldn't socialize indoors, they did have spread out personal fire pits with lots of fire wood for everyone to enjoy in the evenings. The stars were spectacular! They held an outdoor dance Saturday night with all the appropriate distancing. Lots of line dances including new ones to me! Our stay was so deeply enjoyable and satisfying, that we jumped at the opportunity to stay one further night and spent time sitting around the campfire sharing jokes and stories. This place is truly special and very much like coming home. We will return very soon, the highest praise we can give any place.
