I had the opportunity to stay at Ruddocks Ranch last minute with a couple of friends. Agi was great at communicating that the main camp area was full, but explained to us what she did have to offer us. Which, in hindsight, suited our group better with a bit more privacy. The weather was sunny and warm so we didn't need the extra amenities of the cook shack. We stayed at a 'dry' campsite and walked 2 minutes to use the outhouses. The site was large enough for 2 long vehicles/tent setups and possibly even a third. The firewood was dry so easy to light fires and they offered to stock it up for us daily. Agi stopped by to check in to see if we needed anything and offered us alternative things to keep ourselves busy, such as Ruddocks Grind hiking, etc. It is a lovely property with excellent fishing. It was quiet and everyone around was friendly but respectful of space. It really was a delightful place to be. Upon departure, we got a tour of the beautiful off-grid lodge and accommodations. I think it would be an amazing place for a small group or family gathering to stay at and enjoy the tranquility of the scenery and property. I can't wait to have an excuse to rent that space and will tell anyone looking for a remote retreat lodge to stay there!

The primary reason we go to Ruddocks Ranch is to flyfish. The private lake has an eight rod limit, flyfishing only, and is Catch and Release. It is ideal for me and seven of my fishing friends. Our 2019 trip was our second visit. We had the entire bottom floor of the lodge which comfortably gave us plenty of sleeping and relaxing accommodations. The full kitchen and the table that seats eight easily allowed us to enjoy our meals throughout our stay. And the view from the Adirondack chairs has got to put anyone at peace. The owner’s friendly dog, Jake, often joins us for those relax times.
We have gotten to know the owners who are very personable. We always enjoy conversations about Canada, the Ranch, their travels, or most anything. They are very nice people.
Although we go to flyfish, I believe there is likely more outdoor activities available if someone wants to get away in some beautiful country. And it is also pretty neat to stay in a beautiful totally-off-the-grid lodge. A first for us.

We've been to Ruddocks twice now and would go back again. The lodge offers all the amenities you need, including a wifi connection if you need to check in with the "real-world" occasionally. don't count on it for full connectivity as you are still remote - but it's great none the less to have the option. Fishing is great, hiking offers an option for those not wanting to spend all their time on the water. The lake was great for a quick paddle as we brought our own kayak. The owners are welcoming and have found a great spot in the mountains. Jake is a great addition to the experience, super friendly dog and occasional walk companion.

Fishing at Ruddock's for wild trout is second to none ! Plenty of good size trout up to 4lb-5lb can be expected at all times and upwards of 10lb or more are less frequent but definitely available. Given fish are virtually wild, the "hits" are hard and it is not uncommon for fish to be in the air multiple times before you can get slack out of the line. Gord and Agi are exceptionally accomodating to meet their guests needs and know the area very well for non fishing activities.

What an experience!

Our group of 5 fly fishermen had the opportunity to spend a weekend at Ruddocks Ranch September 18th this year. From the moment we arrived at the gate, to the time of departure our hosts Gord and Agi made us feel so welcome. Agi took time to show us around the property, and Gord made sure we had all the info needed for a successful fishing weekend.

We stayed in the lower lodge which is absolutely beautiful, with a nice mix of modern comforts, and rustic charm. The lodge is well laid out, clean, comfortable, and has everything you will need. The lake and surrounding area is beautiful, and totally natural, and the stars at night are truly amazing.

Now for the important details.... the fishing was awesome! We had action from the first cast to the last, and there are big fish in this lake. A 5 lb, 7.5 lb, and 8.9 lb monster was caught along with countless fish in the 1.5 lb to 3 lb range. there was only a couple of fisherman on the lake while we where there which made it a truly special experience. And having a campfire lit for you when you get back to shore in the evening was the cherry on top.

Next year we are hoping to bring the families up as there is so much more than just fishing to do, like kayaking the lake, hiking, and exploring the countless miles of logging roads. This place will not disappoint!

Thanks Ruddocks!
Jeremy and Friends

My wife and I were overwhelmed with how beautiful the lodge and the lake was. The scenery was incredible. I have flyfished for 50 years and had researched places to go that were remote yet provided 1st class accommodation Was totally taken a back by the shallow water flyflshing, this lake is definitely a fly caster's dream.
We had rented the trailer on the lake, which was immaculate and had a fabulous view.
the Lodge was 5 star accommodation , so beautifully furnished , had every possibe convenience . Gordon the owner was so friendly and was always making sure we were comfortable, He has the most interesting historical stories, his family has been in that area for a long time.
We are looking forward to our next trip there, hopefully soon.

A perfect getaway with family, stunning lake views, peaceful and quiet on the lake while fish jumped in abundance all around. Luxurious and comfortable accommodations in the main lodge, all the comforts of home plus more. Watched an eagle soar down to catch a fish, a black Bear scampered across the gravel road as we were leaving . Will definitely return to this piece of paradise . 5 thumbs up 👍

Our family was up for an 80 th birthday weekend and it was spectacular. Beautiful scenery and wildlife. The lodge can accommodate large groups and has all the luxuries of home. Hiking, biking, swimming and some spectacular fishing. Only three hours from home but worlds away.
Gord and Agi have created a place for everyone to enjoy.
We will be back! Can’t wait.

Stayed in the Upper Lodge for the second time. This is a lovely log home, roomy, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Even though it is off the grid and solar powered, it has all the amenities of any well equipped home. The setting is stunning. The hosts, Gord and Agi are friendly and accommodating. they do their utmost to make their guests feel welcome and well looked after.
