As hostels go, this is a 'run of the mill' experience. The rooms are large but the wifi is horrible. The public shower is wonderful though with plenty of hot water. The beds are cozy and the room temperature is decent. However, the kitchen is a bit run down. Overall, there is a number of pro's and con's which equate to an average review in TA. I will say it's inconvenient to park in an area 5 min walk away from the hostel.
Our private room had a bunk bed, table and chair and enough hooks. washroom on one side. Huge kitchen on the other side. Induction stove and new big utensils made cooking easy and the bright decor everywhere with orange color scheme made everything cheerful. It was raining when we checked in late evening. Wind howled thru the night , rain kept pelting. Morning saw a yellow alert on the weather site. Our car was being rocked by the wind even when stationary. We rang up the reception girl and asked for advice if it was OK to drive to Reykjavik. She said it was fine. Big hugs to her for reassuring us. We drove on, missed a few sights in Snaefellsnes peninsula but big rainbows that kept appearing lifted our spirit. We saw some lovely water falls nearby and revisited the Kirkufel waterfall which is quite closeby in the morning. . We had had amazing weather for the past 8 days and this Fury of nature made us appreciate our good luck! On the whole, liked the hostel, esp the reception girl.…
Great location in relation to the famous mountain. Car park is 100m up the road (not sure why as there is plenty of space on the road). Check-in is quick. Rooms are spread over a few building. Plenty of space in the kitchen and lounge.
The hostel is a comfortable place to stay. We spend two nights in a twin room with a private bathroom. The hostel has a large kitchen and meeting room. It is centrally located on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. It is close to the National Park. We would stay here again.
This was a good hostel experience. It was a bunch of en-suite rooms with a kitchen at the end of the hallway. The building is a few streets away from the main hostel and is well located. Our room had a view of Kirkjufell mountain. Our room and the kitchen were clean. The shower had a bit to be desired. It didn't drain fast enough and you really had to be strategic to keep the water in the shower and not all over the bathroom floor. Some couch covers on the common area couches or some more modern looking couches could up the appeal of the place. I forgot to take photos but I think the ones on the site are accurate.
