I was travelling with my 93 year old mother. The owner of the guest house was so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. He gave us a ground floor room with wheel chair access and grab rails. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious with tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful with a good choice. I would highly recommend Grundarfjorder Bed and Breakfast to anyone who likes cosy, clean and friendly accommodation in a beautiful part of Iceland.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. Perfect location to all the great attractions around the area. The staff was very accommodating, friendly and helpful. They made it feel very homely. The chefs at the restaurant are so talented. All their dishes were so delicious. I think they also steal the trophy for best pizza & baked goodies in town. They helped us a to plan our aurora hunting trips giving us information about the forecast and best locations to view them from. And we managed to see Nothern lights two nights in a row and it was stunning! The rooms were very clean and had tea/coffee making facilities with enough room for our luggage. Would definitely go there again. Thank you for a lovely stay!!
Really friendly. Bedrooms super comfy, clean and warm. Ate dinner in the cafe next to the accommodation and this is where you eat breakfast (continental style but plenty of it). Very friendly staff. Really quiet at night. Just be careful in bathroom as shower was very good but made the floor very wet as screen did not come to the floor. Would definitely go back again
Reasonable accommodation in clean and very warm rooms, slightly basic but with all you need. Slight student feel. TV, ensuite and coffee in rooms. Cafe is a few yards round the corner for breakfast and dinner but this can be a cold wet journey. Remember in Iceland most people stay indoors and don't go out so expect to leave restaurant by 9pm and you will be the last ones. Staff very good and helpful. Parking onsite and free. Free internet.
The hotel is under construction. Parking is behind the building and the restaurant is in the front. Oddly, the registration reception is in the restaurant, then you get your key out of a little lockbox in the back entrance. Had to haul luggage up to 2nd floor because there is no elevator available. View of parking lot from room.
