Little wooden cottages in front of a breathtaking view on the Kirkjufell ! A well-warmed and cosy unit that allows to stay clear from the strong outside elements. The units are simple and well-equipped, comfortable beds, very friendly welcome from the managers. Some easy walks can be done in the hills at the back of the property to enjoy the incredible scenery : mountains, lakes... Incredible. Walking distance as well to the beach and seaside, where plenties of birds and a colony of seals are living. You will likely be alone in the unspoiled, very photogenic nature. Some beautiful sunset skies too. There are a few downside, first the location is very remote, you have to drive about 10km to the nearest town / shops. And the weather can be very tough in winter, some days it was a real challenge to go out. So this is the kind of "at the end of the world" feeling. It didn't disturb me as I was mainly there for a quiet remote-working (good wifi !), but the weather can be a bit "hostile" for outdoors activities (snow, wind, fog...).

Most expensive & worst accomodation during our 18 day stay in Iceland. The location and exterior are great, but the interior, facilities and comfort of the house is minimal. Heating is with air conditioning unit mounted to the top of the wall. Impossible to heat the cottage (partly due to lack of isolation), especially the floor stays cold. Contacted the owner, who was friendly but didn't help us. When heater is in use, all kitchen amenities start shaking and rattling. Kitchen facilities are minimal, just 2 of each (spoons, knives, ...). Cooking is to be done with a portable electric fire (instead of build-in fire shown in pictures), pans were worn out. Door of the fridge was broken, every time you opened it, everything fell out. When taking a shower for 3 minutes the floor of the whole house (also under the bed) floods. This is already seen on the laminate flooring which is crooked due to water. Roller blinds have already been repaired but can't be closed all the way down anymore. In general a very low level of workmanship, which doesn't result in a cosy feeling at all.

Similar to a previous review, we had to go through our credit card company to cancel several months in advance owing to COVID and yet they charged us for the stay. Hosts are highly unresponsive and unreliable.

Stayed for two nights. A unique and spectacular panoramic view of Kirkjufell and the Grundarfjordur Bay mountain circle. Modern cattages, well equipped for two persons, tidy and clean and comfy beds! Nice and hot shower. Sleeps two comfortably with acozy sitting area. Hiking trails from doorstep. Nice and spacy patio. Welcoming and natural surroundings. Highly recommended!

We stayed one night at DIS Cottages late Sept 2019 on our drive up to North Iceland. It was minutes away from Kirkjufell mountain, in a remote location with mountain/sea views. The cottage itself was cute, clean & cozy with a few other cottages closely attached. We've stayed at similar ones but they had a bit more distance to them for privacy. The cottage had a kitchenette that was fairly equipped but could've used a few more pot options to cook & utensils. We had a few inconveniences: 1. Upon our arrival the neighbor next to us took our parking space so we had to park further back & drag our suitcases up to the cottage. (Rude on their behalf) 2. The light above the kitchenette was out, so it too was dark to cook 3. No paper towels/napkins just a rag 4. The door wouldn't lock & this was our 2nd trip to Iceland so we're very much aware how they work. Luckily we called & a young couple came & changed the light bulb for us & also tried helping us with the door but also failed to get it functioning properly. The cottage overall was comfortable but could use a little more TLC/up keeping. The views are stunning & its a nice quiet spot to rest before continuing your journey.
