There was excellent breakfast (for 15€) and very nice hostess and host! It had a good location as well as as being well maintained inside and out. There was handmade art on the walls, and a hot sauna that had a personal shower.
we were received very warmly and hospitably by the mangager. he insisted on taking our suitcases to our rooms on the first floor. it's a great hotel. Clean rooms a rich breakfast and a delicious hot tub and sauna.
I read a lot of negative reviews so I was not expecting a whole lot. There are not many choices around here anyway it seems. We got in very late and there are only two restaurants in town and both were booked solid. Even the gas station was closed. The night manager and owner opened the kitchen just for us and cooked us dinner. Come on, who does that? Super nice of them. That is five stars right there.. but I will go on... The rooms were great: spacious enough with clean bathrooms and a nice shower. Breakfast was good for 1500 krona. It had everything you usually get at Iceland hotel breakfasts. It has a hot tub and sauna as well and the price is fair. I think the hotel has turned a page because I did not see any evidence of the negative stuff mentioned in previous reviews, at least for us. The staff and owners were great, the hotel's location is great as a base and the rooms are pretty decent. …
I have use the hotel several times in the past and it was good enough for me to book for some photo tours this year. I arrived in April with a small group. We had booked 5 rooms through our Icelandic travel agent. When we arrived it was dark and locked. After calling the owner, who blamed a booking error, we were stranded. Luckily the Foss Hotel in Stykkisholmur were happy to accommodate us. But this was at extra expenses, such as fuel and time. The following week I arrived at the hotel after booking a room for a private photo tour. Again the hotel was closed and the owner refused to open. He doesn't deserve to be in business.
A bargain Iceland!? Worth commenting on. The Framnes is a modest place run by a very friendly couple. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and adequate in size. There was a breakfast buffet included in the modest nightly charge of about $100. No question that we would return. This town was also the only place we saw the Northern Lights- magnificent.
