The setting of Mangoplaya is just superb for a relaxing low key holiday. We were staying in the studio which was well equipped with beer and milk in the fridge and wine on the table, a lovely welcome. Raymond and Corinne are superb hosts helpful and friendly, they know so much about the island and can advise on everything from restaurants to beaches and hiking trails. We will certainly return but would book the bigger accommodation next time so that there is more outside covered space in case of rain. The sunsets from the property were just amazing and the peace and tranquillity second to none. We slept amazingly well , the air conditioning quiet and efficient. The garden and pool area is just beautiful and it is so lovely to be surrounded by the sights and sounds of the jungle. It is a huge advantage being able to park the car right next to the property as it is up a very steep hill but it certainly helps the fitness level walking to and from the fantastic Grand Anse beach just under 10 minutes away. There are also superb restaurants within this walk less to Le Papillon which has a new chef this year and was excellent. We had a really wonderful holiday and would heartily recommend Mangoplaya if you enjoy a quiet low key way of life.

Beautiful spot settled at the edge of a topical forest. The studio is very pretty, tidy and well equipped, the garden is gorgeous, spacious swimming pool. We had a wonderful time and received a very warm welcome. The stunningly beautiful beach La Grande Anse is 7 minutes walk away. The best restaurant in Deshaies is La Savane by Emilia.

We stayed for 4 nights in the middle of November. The guesthouse is located on a hill with a jungle around you which makes it perfect to sit on the terrace, listen to birds singing or sunbathe by the almost private pool (only shared with one other apartment and the hosts). The host Ray is super welcoming, he will help you with everything from finding ATM-s to finding a place to get your flat tire fixed. By the way he speaks perfect english! We had a nice apartment with 2 bedrooms, quiet AC-s, very good Wifi and all the amenities you need (from shampoo in the bathroom to salt and pepper in the kitchen). We had 2 terraces overlooking the sunset by the mountains and the sea. We really loved the stay and have recommended it to everyone! Greetings from Estonia!

We (adults and two young kids) absolutely loved our stay here in the 2BR gîtes. There is a lovely dining area with a view of the sea & sunset on one side and the sounds of a rainforest on the other. A lovely beach is a couple of minutes walk away though we preferred to drive the short distance because we had two young kids in tow. There is a well kept and clean pool on the property. A large supermarket is about 10 minutes drive away and a smaller one closer by. There was everything we needed in the house to self cater.
Although our stay coincided with Ray (the owner) being away, their very friendly and nice neighbor handled the logistics of key exchanges etc for us while they were gone, and Ray was always quick to reply by email with answers to any questions, both before and during our visit.
We stayed both on both sides of the island during our visit, I much preferred this side as the terrain was more interesting.

We just left Corinne and Raymond and their fantastic Gîte. Our family (3 kids aged 6, 9 and 11) was warmly welcomed in the evening on arrival with a kit of bread, butter, jam, coffee and juice to manage an early jet-lagged morning with kids. The view from the terrace (both open and covered) is stunning. Grand Anse beach and a gas station/mini supermarket is within a 5 min walk. Ray & Corinne are very helpful hosts, go for their advice on what to do/see and where to eat. Deshaies is a very nice blend of beautiful surroundings, Caribbean and France.

I and my wife spent two weeks in this lovely place run by Ray and Corinne Deldique. We enjoyed every little moment of our stay. Ray and Corinne are very relaxed people and Ray was patient enough to keep answering all our inquisitive questions. He provided us with very useful hints and tips for places to visit. His tips for tropical forest hikes were particularly useful and good fit to our preferences (more secluded places with less tourists, but you have to do some exercise to deserve it...). A fact that Ray speaks proper English was helpful as well as our French was unfortunately close to zero. The house is surrounded by a fantastic tropical garden (swimming pool available for guests Monday-Friday). The Grande Anse beach (5 minutes walk down the hill) is one of the best on the whole island. Deshaies village is a small but cosy place and eating fresh baguettes with jambon and fromage while sitting on a wooden jetty in the little harbor shed by morning sunrays was a great start of our days there. We spent a lovely 10 days here with our 3 small children. It's a great place to watch the sun set from the large terrace, then eat outside while listening to the sounds of the rainforest, and well located for exploring the beautiful island of Basse Terre. Grand Anse - which has to be one of the finest beaches in the Caribbean - is close by. There's a minimarket in walking distance, and the lovely little village of Deshaies is a 5-minute drive away. The gite itself was well looked after and good value, if a little compact for 5 of us. Ray and Corinne were ideal hosts - welcoming and helpful, but giving us plenty of space too.
Highly recommended.

We have stayed here for 1 week. Basically one of the best places in Guadeloupe, so close to the grande anse beach (500m). Gasstation at the roundabout (300m.) is also a supermarket and has a good boulangerie departement. Green cafe at Grande anse beach is worth a visit. Really what else could one need.
The appartement is basically the whole ground level floor of a 2 story house. There are 2 terraces. 1 with a roof and nice view (shelter against tropical showers) and a broad large terrace with a even better view over the (same) bay area. On the appartement we can say that it is comfortable, nicely located and with enough privacy. Master bedroom is airconditioned. Kitchen is combined with livingroom and is well equipped. Bathroom is fine, with a good shower.
Service is very good ready to help you with good daytrips or a little bit of sugar ;-). The family that holds the appartement is very helpfull if you need anything. And really know to respect your privacy. You share the pool with them as well as the pool is in their wonderfull garden. It's possible for 5 persons to stay in the house. I think with 4-3-2-1 persons its at it's best.

Mangoplaya is great for several reasons: - Extremely nice and helpful landlords Raymond and Corinne - Great location 4 minutes from Grand Anse, Guadeloupe's nicest beach, offering chilly beach life but also beach party at Karacoli - In the middle of abundant nature - Great pool bordering a tropical forest. If you find Mangoplaya nice (and you will), don't make my mistake and move on (to Dominica and Antigua), just stay! It is nicest there!

We stayed here for 5 days and wished we never had to leave. We stayed in the apartment which has a wonderfully secluded veranda area. The apartment itself was beautiful and cosy with all the amenities you would want. There even was a cat (very sweet and polite) to keep you company on the veranda.
The swimming pool was amazing and also has a terrace with a beautiful view of the tropical forest.
Be prepared for a very steep climb before you reach the apartment. But after the first time you know the set up and how to park and it is no problem. If you can rent an automatic car, I would advise you to do that :-)
