Habitation Grande Anse hotel is renowned for its prime location, offering guests easy access to Grand Anse Beach and the delights of Basse Terre. Enthusiastic comments often describe the staff as warm and attentive, contributing to a positive guest experience. The hotel's rooms are frequently applauded for their cleanliness and practical kitchenettes, though a few guests mention less-than-comfortable bedding and a hint of humidity.
While opinions on value vary, with some concerns about costs, the picturesque gardens and functional amenities receive ample praise. However, the terrain can be challenging for some visitors.

Beautiful quiet place, well maintained, warm and cordial welcome, The room is simple, clean, but it lacks a lot of storage, the kitchen has everything you need but very simple (it could add a grill or a countertop oven ) The pool lacked a little deckchair and have more shade On the restaurant side, we had breakfast and it was missing everything and it was cold, maybe we fell badly. And for dinner we only ate once because the menu was not too elaborate, not very enticing and expensive (but I think it's like that in all the other restaurants ) I ate a stew of Capri with a small pile of plain rice for 28 euros the parking lot could be bigger because sometimes we had trouble getting out of the place We still liked the place and the world that works there

Hotel is made up of studio apartment rooms with an outdoor kitchen dining area, including fridge, stove, coffee maker etc. that was great as we could do our own breakfast or have water / wine beer kept cold. The room was clean and basic and had a separate bed area for our son, which worked well. Plenty of hot water for shower. The hotel is in beautiful gardens and well kept, and is on a steep hill side. Several languages are spoken at reception, including English, but generally English is not widely spoken in Guadeloupe - helps to have some French! The Plage Grande Anse is about 250m walk, and is great.. loads of waves and beautiful beach. It is a public beach so you need to bring your own towels, beach chairs etc. Parking is very busy so it’s good to be able to walk there from hotel. There are a good selection of restaurants and bars with excellent food, and very French service with fixed price menus that give you 3 courses and take about 3 hours. Good on the island is good with a French creole taste. One thing we noticed is that most restaurants serve a big meal in the lunchtime or afternoon and are closed in the evening. So we mostly got tapas and wine in the hotel in the evening after eating lunch at 2-3pm. Most restaurants in Deshaie need a reservation for dinner service, they get very busy. Guadeloupe is a beautiful green island, with lots to see, and strongly recommend renting a car. The taxis are almost impossible to find and expensive, so rent a car from the airport for the whole trip. It cost E85 for a one way airport transfer and only E37 per day for a car rental. Recommend visiting the botanical gardens, eco zoo, and hiking in the mountains, and the rum museum. If you have time hike the waterfalls and volcano - but this needs a bit of research and planning to find the information in English. We never managed to get into the cocoa house, as they needed reservation in advance and it was fully booked.

Accommodated on a hotel basis (cleaning, bed and linen every day) in a studio (number 1) with a modern bathroom, good bedding, a kitchenette on the terrace (surprising) and a very beautiful view. Breakfast is varied (sweet, savory) on a terrace overlooking the swimming pool. We ate twice in the restaurant in the evening, lovely cuisine. Please note, the site is close to the beautiful Grande Anse beach but 1 or 2 km from Deshaie. A downside is the proximity of the road where cars and trucks obviously drive fast. The noise is especially noticeable during breakfast or in the restaurant because the terrace dominates. On the other hand, no view of the road because there is a lot of greenery. The park is beautiful and our studio was quiet. Attentive and courteous staff.

We spent 15 days in this residence, the welcome was most pleasant, personal at the top, all very kind. Virginie has the welcome always helpful and ready to give us as many tips and tricks for our outings and to answer our "question of the day" as she said, always smiling and very good exchanges. Nelly at breakfast, very nice meeting also, good mood, always the desire to make us discover the tastes and flavors of beautiful Guadeloupe (in this case different fruits and cake recipes ) and then beautiful attention also for my darling's birthday on D-Day. All the staff were very polite, smiling, friendly. The waitress in the evening a little less warm ... but may be more reserved. The residence very nice, very nice rooms. Bedding at the top, quiet residence, we slept very well during our stay, it was very relaxing. Too bad the residence is on a lot that goes up a lot, to come and go to the room it was sporty every time. If you're on the high ground of course. Convenient location to do everything around. The beach of Grande Anse is about 15 min walk or barely 5 min drive. Very nice and large beach. With lots of restaurants nearby. 10 min from the botanical garden of Coluche. Restaurant of the residence just extra really a treat and very nice presentations and beautiful quantities too. I see this one as a good bistronomic or little gastro! We are good eaters and still we just eat a dish and dessert (just out of gluttony! ) Only regret in this restaurant, no typical Guadeloupe dish proposal. To summarize we recommend this residence! Thank you to all the staff!

I was back at the HGA in June 2024. I arrived and felt at home. The staff from last year are still there. This time I had apartment 25, which is equipped with a terrace and outdoor kitchen and from here you can see the hill or the sea. The large, bright bathroom with a shower is sufficient. The apartment was cleaned daily and is very clean. Towels were changed daily, whereas for my stay (14 days) cleaning was only scheduled every 4 days. The HGA team is extremely friendly and attentive. The bed let me sleep very well so that I could start the day rested and relaxed. The breakfast had a good selection and was plentiful: fresh fruit, rolls, cold cuts, cheese, omelette / fried egg, yogurt, coffee, delicious cocoa, fruit juice, yogurt. The HGA is ideally located for exploring the island. All my thanks for the good rest go to the entire HGA team. I would like to express my special thanks again to Sina from reception. Sina speaks German and is, for me, the good soul of the hotel. Sina always has good tips for excursions, restaurants, hikes, etc. Sina is happy to help with reservations and bookings. Sina played a very big part in making my vacation a success.

Beautifully positioned chalets on a hillside not far from Grande Anse beach (10 minute stroll), and the town of Deshaies (5 minute drive or a 30 minute walk). Our chalet came with a large double bed in a comfortable sized room and a good sized bathroom, and was immaculately clean. On the balcony with views towards Grand Anse coast was a well equipped outdoor kitchen, with table, 2 chairs and 2 deckchairs - wonderful place to relax with breakfast or a cool drink, There is a good sized pool. Not many loungers, but the pool didn't get over busy when we were there so it wasn't a problem. The Papillon Restaurant serves good food, but it isn't cheap - nice for a special occasion. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. The hotel grounds are beautifully landscaped and well maintained. Parking can be a challenge, especially the smaller car park on the left as you approach the hotel, below Reception (not helped by poor parking by some drivers) - better to use the car park on the right, just before the barrier. Being on a hillside does mean that it is a steep walk to the higher accommodations, however the hotel will let you drive in to unload and load your luggage.

Our room, number 18, had a fabulous view of the verdant hillside and the sea which also gave us spectacular sunsets during our 6 night stay. As previous reviews have mentioned, the sea view rooms are a very steep walk up a driveway or through the gardens. The room itself was of the ‘clean but basic’ variety. Definitely no frills here. The mattress and the pillows were hard and made of foam. We only had one evening meal in the restaurant. My husband enjoyed his lamb but the tuna I had was overcooked and dry. Breakfast was also very disappointing. It didn’t seem to matter if you arrived early or late, there were regularly no croissants or scrambled eggs left and neither were re-filled unless you pointed it out to the waiting staff.

We had an excellent family stay with 2 superior studios side by side, quiet, very comfortable, good size, the park is very beautiful, the breakfasts are plentiful and varied and the staff is very pleasant, always smiling, discreet but listening. The hotel is quite close to Deshaies where you can find some very good restaurants and very practical takeaway meals to enjoy in the hotel's small outdoor kitchen which has all the minimum necessary equipment (dishes, tea towel, sponge, liquid dishes). You can easily walk to Grande Anse beach but there are also several other beautiful beaches nearby by car that are less busy than Grande Anse. We recommend without hesitation.

Very nice stay We stayed in June. Very nice welcome. We had booked a superior studio and were upgraded to a large studio because the swimming pool was closed due to renovation, a very nice initiative. The studio was perfect beautiful, functional, clean and the interior and exterior furniture very beautiful in fact the entire site is beautiful and clean. We are returning in January for two weeks. Very excited

Hotel very good. attentive and smiling staff. Simple but impeccable rooms with bathroom equipped with walk-in shower. Small terrace with kitchenette outside. Breakfast is extra and very hearty served in front of the pool surrounded by well-kept vegetation. Only downside, the restaurant too gourmet and too expensive for a family with children.

Bonjour! I have the same question for February 2019. Flight is scheduled to arrive at 18:35. Can you assist with either an airport pickup or car rental, merci? And if we drive ourselves from the airport, is it a safe drive in the dark?
I agree with Ken. If I remember correctly, you have to reserve the day before to guarantee the time you want. They also serve a breakfast buffet which I thought was worth going to, and you also have to reserve the day before.
I believe breakfast is 7-9 am and dinner is 7-9 pm. I don’t think there’s a lunch. I could be off half an hour somewhere. Both were quite good in my opinion. Hope this helps.
There are more places to choose from in the Deshaies area.
