I booked this hotel online. The location is great, the terrace is great, it is a good place to have dinner, food is fine and the waitress who served me some drinks was super friendly. These are the positives.

The room was quite dark, a bit old fashioned and reasonably clean. The bed seemed not to be sitting level, which made me feel slightly uncomfortable.

In this hotel the breakfast is not included which is fairly unusual for Germany. They charge a quite hefty 14,90€ per person. I had breakfast at 9.15. It can be had until 10.00. Frankly it was a joke. Almost nothing left. When I asked the waitress seemed clueless. As with all staff she was very young. Not an issue but she was clearly not trained. A man in his 50’s intervened. might have been the manager. He said they could make me a baguette. Fine. Still almost nothing to put on it. One slice of salami left.

I understand that during these testing corona times you try to run a tight ship but this does not work.

I stayed a few days at a hotel in Bavaria before driving to this hotel and for the exact same amount per night the room was super clean and nice. they had a super breakfast included in the price and very good wellness and swimming pool. And great service.

My experience as a businessman tells me this hotel is problably to big for the location and has too high fixed and variable costs to be made profitable.

A shame as it has a lot going for it. I hope they get it sorted.

I recently spend 4 nights at the Hotel Stadt Breisach. Even though it was built in the 70s, the design and architecture of the hotel are great (I read it received an award). The view is fantastic and the location of the hotel is ideal for exploring this area, Kaiserstuhl, Schwarzwald and Vogesen.
However, some rooms and hallways are really old-fashioned, crumbling and urgently need upgrading. Really used, old fixtures, furniture & carpets, no minibar/coffee facilities (I believe this is in progress).
Really nice new pool, albeit a bit cold and a nice sun terrace. We did not use the sauna area but it looked really well done. It would have been nice had they offered a more extensive wellness-program (only massages), advertising it as a wellness hotel.
The staff were very nice and helpful and the bar (open Thursday to Sunday only??) looked inviting. The restaurant was good, the terrace is beautiful.
This hotel could be a real gem.

Nice hotel with a nice view but somewhat difficult to locate. Nice rooms and good food but most importantly quiet location. Not many guests probably related to the time of the year still limited parking spots.

My wife and I had made reservations for a three night package at the Hotel Stadt Breisach in the Black Forest over Christmas 2023. A big disappointment.
Check in went smoothly and we were told at reception that for the Christmas Eve Gala Dinner we had to be seated punctually at 6:30. We went for drinks in the bar at 5 p.m. and then went to the restaurant for our dinner. Both were good.
Next morning (Christmas Day) we went to find out where lunch would be served, which we were prepared to pay for as it was not included in the package, only to find that there was no lunch served, the bar did not open until 5:pm and was only open from Thursday to Monday. The hotel did not offer lunch but coffee and cake would be available from 2 p.m. And that was it. We had unknowingly reserved a stay at a hotel that served no more than one slice of cake and a cup of coffee between breakfast and dinner. That evening dinner was OK but nothing to write home about: salmon fillet served on a mountain of spinach, and tagliatella.
Next day I asked my wife if she would prefer to cut our stay short and head for home right away. Her face lit up and “Yes please” was her answer.
On our way to breakfast I stopped off at Reception to cancel our remaining day. We had packed before breakfast so it wasn’t long before we were on our way back to Luxembourg. We stopped for lunch at our favourite Tandoori restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed it.
After we arrived home I went on to the hotel’s website but no mention was made of the bar only opening in the evening and being closed two days a week, nor that there would be no lunch served on the days we were booked in. Had there been we would have quickly moved on to other hotels before we made our reservation. All in all, a big disappointment

Although the veiw from hotel is great, if you are thinking of flavouring the village atmosphere, do yourself a favour and dont stay here. The hotel is tired, rooms are reached via danky tunnel and two different lifts. Staff generally indifferent, make you feel like they are doing you a favour. Fantastic place but wish we had stayed down in the town to soak up the atmosphere.

I will write about the restaurant, I didn't stay in a hotel only had a lunch.
I had a lunch with three of my friends,
First of all server young lady was polite but very slow, even if the balcony was not full we were waiting longer to give our orders, then we wait again to receive our drinks and of course food, we didn't receive right food that we ordered. And we received food first than cutlery.
Second - food - we ordered 4 different dishes and at the end we received same thing which was some sort of seasoned salad, we order food from one server received I guess from one of the chefs, at the end I received raviolis, they were disaster, sauce was overcooked, raviolis were "swimming"in the oil.
Food is pricey for what you receive.
The only positive thing is view of the river, but it is not worth it.
Hopefully is a better situation with the hotel itself.

I've stayed in some pretty poor hotels in some pretty poor countries over the years but this place takes the cake.
The standard of customer service here is appalling, it makes fawlty Towers look like the Ritz!
As my title states... "Never again" and I must assume that the rest of the 'Best Western' chain are as bad, so they are all of my list!

The hotel was beautiful. The staff were fantastic. It is located at the top of a hill with a great view. The restaurant was great for dinner. The free buffet breakfast was really nice. The village is beautiful. The rooms are a good size with a balcony. The beds are really comfortable and the bathrooms are clean and a good size. There was bike parking in the underground car park. I would definitely go back to Breisach and I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

This hotel is in a beautiful little town beside the river Rhine, it is a huge property and they know how to look after their guests.

The food was substantial and tasty, the waitresses were very helpful and it could not be faulted in any way.

The rooms are large and have excellent views of the cathedral or the river.

reccomended !

The hotel is very well located in the upper and older part of Breisach, right next to the cathedral. The room was spacious and very quiet. On a sunny day you may enjoy breakfast on a very pleasant terrace with a nice view of the river Rhine.
