We stayed here in mid-May 2016. From the word go the service was nothing other than excellent (and they offer VERY good recommendation restaurant wise)!! The hotel - with its various rooms throughout the ground - offered lots of different places to relax and the pool area cannot really be described ... it must be seen! The lighting of the...

My Wife and I spent 2 nights at this beautiful Sicilian gem. We would return. The grounds are beautiful, the staff helpful, and the setting restful. Unfortunately, the weather was not so good, so we did not get to enjoy the grounds as much as we would have liked. On arrival, there were a few hiccups that the staff immediately...

We stayed as a family of 4 adults taking 2 rooms. For us the setting was idyllic, quite, immersed in nature, pool, views of the Med and Etna, spacious rooms, alfresco breakfast. Given that we all needed to recharge batteries, we arrived Friday p.m and left for the airport on Sunday p.m so we left the car parked up all...

We stayed 3 nights in this hidden gem in on the Nord-East cost of Sicily. We had a very warm welcome despite the we only did arrive late (as we got lost on the Sicilian Highways) The whole location and setting of the Hotel and bungalows is stunning. We had a beautiful view from our "cottage" to Mount Atna. The...

Staff very pleasant but did not follow through with requests. My wife wanted to enrol on a cookery class but was told that the chef was in a bad mood - as paying guests and reasonable people this is unacceptable and we only ate in the restaurant once. It was fancy and pleasant but nothing special by London restaurant standards....

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and only wish we had stayed longer. Pool is beautiful. Nice small playground for our daughter. Great evening cocktail hour. Breakfast great and dinner outstanding. Service good as well. Our only complaint was the A/C was terrible in our room and little was done to fix it. We were further from the main building...

We spent five blissful nights at this lovely hotel, a complete escape from everything, the staff were all fantastic very helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Our room although one of the cheaper ones didn't feel any less decadent the views were absolutely stunning. Breakfast was a lovely and relaxed a buffet of fresh fruits, local cheese, meats, eggs, nuts...

This was quite simply a very beautiful and lovely property. The main home and the grounds were well kept, and it was very nice to walk around the grounds and see the many different fruits and vegetables (oranges, clementines, apricots, peaches, olives, grapes, etc.). My wife and I had dinner at the property and were generally pleased, though it may...

My wife and I spent three marvelous nights at Monaci. The setting is without parallel - views of the sea from our room, with smoky Etna looming behind. The food was delicious - produce picked fresh daily for plates that were well-conceived and lovingly prepared. The staff was warm, attentive and thoughtful. Our stay here was the pearl in our...

Very chic place to stay, the residence is clearly the passion of the owners...they introduced themselves over the complementary evening reception where you get to sample some of their amazing local produce. All of the rooms we saw were lovely and we were lucky enough to be upgraded to the 'cow-shed' up on the hillside - a short walk from...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In 2007, by chance, I stumbled upon this place, fell in love with it and decided to devote my life to its resurrection. To bring this place, previously chosen by the monks of Saint Anna’s order for his special energy and extraordinary charm, back to life. It has become the second great project of my life. The estate Monaci delle Terre Nere is situated along the slopes of Mount Etna, the biggest volcano in Europe on the border of the Etna National Park at 500mt above sea level. My wish has been to preserve the historic identity and local traditions, more than a Boutique Hotel it is a home which I hope retains its intimacy. The house which dates from 1800 is listed as one of historical importance. It is now a place where traditional Sicilian Architecture is combined with contemporary art and living. ... more   less
