We stayed for a night with our friends. Both rooms were lovely, large and each had a great private bathroom with a fridge. Beer, wine and water available for purchase. M’analyser and Alfonso (Quintana) were just delightful. Very warm hosts and it turned out we had mutual friends.
Beautiful back garden where we enjoyed conversation and a delicious breakfast and coffee in the morning. We did not have supper there as we were meeting a crowd for supper at Palmarès which was delicious too. Our very best to Magalys and Quintana and our thoughts are with you as we are all now in the middle of this horrible Covid pandemic. Our prayers are with Cuba.

Amazing casa in the center of the town, very calm and quiet, rooms and bathrooms very clean and well kept, breakfasts and dinners so delicious, everyday you can try something new, typical for Cuba, everything made of fresh products, the owners treat you as a memeber of the family, always ready to help, advise, answer all your questions, they helped us to organize a drive who took us to Cayo Guillermo and waited there for us, also advised a casa in Matanzas that was as well very nice and at the same level. HIghly recommended!!

Because we left Gibara a day earlier than planned, we arrived in Morón a day sooner. However, instead of going to the casa particular and asking if they had availability for an extra night, we decided to look around and see what other casas were available. We found a gorgeous, very spacious, really colonial recently restored Hostal Casona with swimming pool next to the railway station for only CUC 7 more than what we spent at the Casa Particular Carmen.
Early the next morning (09:00 a.m.), we went to the Casa Carmen to drop off our luggage before starting our day’s touring. Naturally, Sra. Carmen and her husband were surprised to see us so early and when we told them we had actually arrived the night before, they enquired why we hadn’t come to the house because they had no other guests.
According to the website there is 1 room, so we were surprised when bringing in our suitcases that we were lead past this large room (the door was open and we could recognize the room from the website picture, double bed and single bed) and shown to a small room at the back of the house. This room was a lot smaller than the other with only 1 double bed. We were informed that the other room was occupied by a French couple, who were currently out touring. How could that be when they had no guests the night before and it was so early in the morning? And if the room was occupied, why was the door open and there were no suitcases?

After visiting the local sight of the lake, we returned to the house and confronted Sra. Carmen because this was now the third time we have been given inferior rooms than listed on the websites. Sra. Carmen informed us that they only started using the smaller room in March 2015. Sjoerd pointed out with the booking form that we had booked in January and for the only room listed on the website. Suddenly, Sra. Carmen agreed and the room was now available and our luggage was immediately transferred there.
The room was twice as big as the other room 16m2 with bed 140 cm and one of 90cm, bathroom 7m2 with large dressing mirror. Compact a/c and ceiling fan. If you stay in the smaller room, you are paying too much at CUC 25 per night. We were starting to get the impression that owners save the nicer rooms for independent travellers coming off the street without a booking. If these people are shown the inferior rooms, they will not stay there. When we returned in the evening, the other small room was occupied, but we don’t know if they were French or not.

The smaller room is next to the green courtyard, but the breakfast table is under the window of the room, so the occupants hear everything which occurs in the courtyard, especially if the window is open. From our room we heard the traffic as from 05:00 hrs and one very old truck apparently blew its diesel fumes into the ally along the house, where we had our open window; not a nice experience.
Warning: If you park in the garage (carport), it costs CUC 3 extra per night. Most Casas informed us beforehand what the parking would cost, but not here. If we had known that, we would have left the rental car on the street. Booked through BBinnViñales.

This review is based on staying at 16 Casa Particulares (CPs)around Cuba. The quality of most CPs, in my opinion, overrated on their websites, probably because the hosts were very friendly, which indeed they are. Comments on hotels, on the other hand, are often very negative. I feel that an accommodation cannot have 5* with one of the following aspects: only 1 bedroom <12m2, bathroom <2m2, only one two-person bed of 130cm, a compact old a/c (noisy) or heavy traffic noise before 06:00 hrs. With several of these aspects 4* is doubtful.
We understand that eating in the CP is an additional profit for the owners. This applies for both the breakfast and dinners offered. In the past, having dinner in the CP might have been more advantageous and better than the government-run restaurants, but more and more smaller (parador) restaurants are opening up. This gives the traveler more options, especially as the prices are the same as the CP. Knowing now prices and rates, most breakfasts where CUC 5 pp was charged are overpriced as in some places we got the same (or better) for CUC 3.

I stayed at Casa Particular Carmen in April 2012. We were already exited as we had the chance to be really near Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo, but the experience really became complete when we met this wonderful home and the most lovely couple on the planet.
The house is a colonial dream, everything down to the last detail is perfect. Beautiful spacious room with the cleanest bathroom ever, great spaces wonderfully decorated all along the Casa, and a big garden in the back where you can enjoy Magaly's delicious breakfasts and dinners, have a drink/cigar, or just enjoy their amazing company. They have space for your car, the fridge is always full, water never goes cold...you'll never want to leave. Magaly and her husband, Alfonso, truly are the most wonderful hosts, and will be more than happy to provide references and guidance for your stay in the island. We spent 3 weeks visiting about two thirds of the island. This house and the 30-50 minute drive Cayos were definitely the highlight of our trip. 100% recommended.

Casa Carmen is a great colonial house, spacious, beautiful decorated and with a beautifull backyard where we take our meals. This was the most beautiful house where we stayed in Cuba. The room and bathroom were biggest from our journey in Cuba, both clean and confortable.
The owner is a nice and kindly old lady, but the hosts were her son with his wife, very hospitable and talkative people. We talk a lot after our meals in the backyard sitting in confortable rocking cairs.
If you arrive with a car they have posibility to park your car in the yard in a covered place, we paid 2CUC/day.
This is an opportunity if you want to visit Cayo Coco/Guillermo. We went from Moron to Playa Pilar from Cayo Guillermo, one of the best beach from Cuba.
We recommend with warmth this house.

Casa Carmen has been by far the best casa particular we encountered in our whole trip around Cuba. We spent here four nights and went every day by car to Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo, which are about one hour away. The house is really beautiful, with a colonial style architecture and a big garden in the backyard where breakfast and meals are served. The rooms are spacious and very nicely furnished, equipped with fan and air conditioning, and the bathroom was huge if compared with most of the other accommodations we had during our holiday. Everything was always very clean and in perfect order, and Magaly and Alfonso were extremely nice and caring. The house has also a private covered parking lot (3 CUCs/day): a highly appreciated facility in Cuba where leaving your rented car unattended is not recommended. We could immediately establish a very friendly interaction with Magaly and Alfonso that made us really feel at home! The most amazing highlight of Casa Carmen is anyway the food: Magaly is a great cook and she delighted us with excellent dishes of langosta (lobster), camarones (shrimps) and pescado (fish). The breakfast was also great, with a huge amount of tasty fresh fruit (papaya, guayaba, ananas, banana, orange and most noticeably the mangos that Magaly grows directly in her garden), natural homemade fruit juices, and excellent marmelades. The meals are always very abundant and filling.
It was very pleasant and very relaxing to stay in this house, we are really thankful to Magaly and Alfonso for all the care they put in making us feel at home, and it was very sad for us to leave this place!

We stayed for two days in Casa Carmen while on our way to the Coco's. The rooms are enormous for Cuban standards and the beds are amazing. The casa is located very close to the train station (not so close that you hear any sounds). We enjoyed dinner twice in the casa, both times were very good! Our host also gave us some coffee and Rum, I personally highly recommend that :) All in all I think this was the best Casa we stayed at. It's also possible to go to the Caya's from here, don't uderestimated the drive though, possibly 75 minutes to Pilar Beach. In the end that's why we choose to go all inclusive.

My friend and I stayed here for more than a week and had the time of our lives. This Casa was the best I encountered in the whole of Cuba (and I travelled through Cuba for several weeks). The food was amazing - look at my pictures. You will not find another breakfast this good in any Casa. Our room was very comfortable with an ensuite bathroom and our own fridge. Cayo Coco is about 45 minutes away by taxi. Magaly organised taxi drivers for us everyday and sometimes we shared the taxi with other tourists in Moron, which made it quite cheap.
Magaly and Alfonso were very generous hosts. We also spent a lot of time with her nephew, who showed us around Moron everyday. Magaly became like a mother to us. She organised everything for us including my entire trip through Cuba (including destinations and accommodation in every city) and didn't charge me at all for it. When I mentioned that it would be my birthday in a few weeks time, she arranged for another Casa to throw me a surprise birthday party and had flowers delivered to me in Havana. I will never forget her generosity. Thank you, Magaly!!

Dear Angela, Firstly, thanks for your contact.... and we hope you are ok! Moron is 60 km from Cayo Coco more less (it is the nearest beach!) Therefore, you need a rent car or a taxi to the nearest beaches. If you are interested, we could recommend a responsible taxi driver. Best Regards, from Casa Carmen Moron Magaly and Alfonso
