This was our fifth visit to the Melia Cayo Guillermo and it was another great trip. The staff at this resort are amazing, especially the entertainment team. Edele in particular goes out of his way to make people feel welcome and involve them in activities. Make sure you look him up if you visit! The bartenders (Didier, Tomas and others)...

Wow. Not because of the amazing 5 star luxury that awaited us but because they claim it to be a 5 star hotel. The place looks ok at first, but soon starts to unravel itself. Starting with the room. You would expect a 5 star(actually anything above a 1 star) to have hot water. No, first day a cold shower,...

We travelled as a couple with a good friend for 1 week, returning 5 days ago, first 2 days very cold and windy but thankfully the sun returned but it remained quite windy We had visited this hotel several times while staying at the Melia Cayo Coco for several years, last time being in 2006, back then it was very...

We decided to give the Melia another try and were most pleasantly surprised. Our room was perfect. We had no issues, including water, during our two week stay. The room was spotless every day. Thanks to our chambermaid Mayumi. There has been a lot of staff turnover, but we made new friends and enjoyed catching up with old friends. We...

We stayed here from March 17-24th and based on the price of the package we went in expecting an average place and that's what we got. Some of the complaints we heard while were there just made you think " then why didn't you book a $3000 resort elsewhere" people like the low price but then complain it's not at...

What was great... - 30min drive from Cayo Coco airport - Great beach - very private, calm waters, great for seashells. - Close to Pilar for catamaran / daily excursion (Pilar is the best beach I've ever visited in my lifetime + plus cool history with Ernest Hemingway). What wasn't so much... - The food - ok, it's Cuba, i.e....

Would not recommend this resort. while staff in the buffet is excellent the resort itself needs alot of updates. Beach chairs are sparse and you have to fight to get one. Maids are known to go through your luggage. We had items stolen from our luggage despite leaving daily tips and other items. Friends had cockroaches up-to 2 inches long...

All in all our stay in this hotel was wonderful! If you do your homework...you'll find this hotel to meet all expectations. The resort is on the older side and needs (and is in the midst of) renovations. We thoroughly enjoyed the manager's dinner where the sales manager went around with his ipad asking everyone's room # and any problems...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Meliá Cayo Guillermo is located one of the most beautiful and white-sandy beaches with more than 1300 palm trees, and swept by very transparent waters. The area was an inspiration for Ernest Hemingway, and fishing the great blue river, always on his Pilar Yacht, he created part of his work. The hotel is perfect for couples and families but also for diving, fishing. We also organize the wedding of your dreams in this paradise. ... more   less
