It's a great hotel not far from the beach , but they have a van that takes you there. Great swimming pool, with a nice area by the beach with pretty good service paid separate from the hotel. The spa is very nice but you have to pay extra and the breakfast is very basic The rooms are really good.

Spend at week at Visir in June. Very clean and attractive hotel complex with friendly and attentive staff. Wonderful pool and adjacent bar area. Breakfast was included and was adequate enough, although the choice was limited - unless you are partial to cakes for the first meal of the day! The hotel picked us up from the airport (at Trapani) and dropped us there at the end of the week for a 100 EURO fee. Pricey enough for what is a relatively short journey. The hotel is located some 3km outside Mazara (its a long walk, believe me) and there are no taxis or bus service. The hotel will drop you in town - for 20 EUROs - which is frankly excessive. Drinks and food are also pricey in-house, but there is an excellent local bistro just 200m down the road to the beach.

We stayed here for 7 nights in June 14. The hotel itself was llovely especially the pool area. Though the music played around the pool was too loud at times. We mainly had the pool to ourselves but it did get busier at weekends. Sun loungers were comfy with plenty of parasols . Towels for the pool area were provided which were a nice touch. The resort is a little bit of paradise but in a grotty area with only a local bistro within walking distance . You would benefit from having a car if staying in this hotel, as the centre is 15 minutes drive away. We found some nice restaurants in the centre so it's worth the effort of going into town. Hotel difficult to find so make sure you have a good map , We were driving around lost for 2 hours. Local people we stopped to ask for directions didn't speak English. Food in hotel was average and very expensive . Breakfast was ok with a large selection of cakes. Staff at the hotel were very friendly, especially the pool bartenders. We stayed in room 204 which overlooked the road but we had to be moved as it was very noisy at nighy due to local dogs barking all night from the house opposite. Free wifi at the hotel was very useful. During our time we experienced frequent power outages which was bit inconvenient at times. Overal I would recommend this hotel.

About one year ago I booked this hotel. They wanted me to transfer the amount for the room in advance to their bank account. Then they said they didn't get it. So I transfered it once more. Later I got from my bank the information, that they got it twice. When we were there in October, I told them, that I paid twice. They said they know it, but could not pay me back the money when we left. They promised to transfer it back to our bank account. Up the now - over half a year later - I still did not get my money, around Euro 400.--. First they answered my mails and told me, that it was a "bank mistake". In the meantime I sent them several mails asking where my money is and of course never got an answer and still are waiting for my money.

We booked this hotel as a 4* luxury break, how wrong could you be! This hotel is more like a 1*, the pool was out of action and looked like a building site, the linen on the beds was completely crumpled, leading you to wonder if it was actually clean. The Spa, was falling apart, all the mosaic tilling was broken with large areas completely missing, the pool water was cloudy, the floor in the sauna was disgusting, a breeding ground for disease. The whole hotel is extremely tired and shabby it needs a lot of work doing to it to bring it back to legitimately being a 4* again.

I brought my pregnant wife on a trip to Sicily to try to unwind and enjoy things a bit before our new arrival. Don't buy into Visir marketing. This place is terrible and to be avoided. The outer venere is slick enough (although its still very poorly located in an unimpressive area). The room given us was anything but spectacular with very poor maintenance. It had bleached stains on the carpets, a slow water saturation leak above (soggy to the touch) the bed causing paint chips to fall on the bed....the fire alarm is visibly disconnected and not functioning and the room is below ground and the air conditioner does not work (despite our pleas to have something done so that my wife could have a pleasant night, nothing...) this has been bad for us...we got little sleep. Everything is wrong here. Even the gym doesn't open until 10am....the bottom line is that Visir, despite all its attempts to sell itself that way, is not luxury, it's not even close...I'd put it at below average but even below average hotels tend to know how to maintain their hotel rooms. Take my advice and avoid this hotel and move along...you'd thank me later if you could.

Spent one night here with my husband before travelling back to London. This was the last of our 11 day holiday. Excited at the thought of staying at this 4 star superior rated hotel and spa resort. .
Positives : The Room was clean albeit very dated; the pool area nicely decorated - but lots of insects and got lots of bites - just unlucky ( spent most days at the Beach / pool areas in Siracusa and not bitten once ...) There is free Parking.
Negatives. The breakfast is one of the poorest I’ve seen in a long while. The breakfast area is located in the basement which has no natural light and is thus dark and uninviting .Goodness knows why they can’t serve breakfast outside as dinner is served outside in the open (probably because dinner is extra and not included in the deal)I’ve taken a picture of the view from the basement which is not attractive .

The quality of food is in my opinion dire - especially when Sicily is renowned for its fantastic Mediterranean food.I’ve tried to capture the quality and presentation of the food in some of the photos . Stale reheated croissants .Mostly burnt. Unhygienically laid out in a plastic container; No assortment of cheeses- save for processed cheese slices no choice of meats or bread. Very little fresh fruit .People looked depressed at breakfast . One couple who were staying there for 10 days said they rarely ate breakfast in the hotel!

The Pool rules. You have to wear a shower cap 2 Euro charge -I travel a lot -in some 5 star locations and have never seen this rule before.
.
The place really is out of the way. Even with a car which I would say is essential there’s very little to do or places to go and visit- so short stays only are recommended. We go to Sicily every year in the early Summer and especially the South is stunningly beautiful. Here there was very little to see. Images of Elliott’s Wasteland came to mind - just miles of nothing ....

There was a spa incentive which was a discount but this was only for the 75 euro massage. No other choices. So I declined.

The place really needs updating and looks very seventies. Very tired and dark inside. I’m at a loss how anyone can give this place a positive rating . I found it depressing .I’m hoping that with constructive criticism improvements can be made.Starting with breakfast
Thank goodness the booking was for 1 night only ...

Good size room, balcony, large bathroom.. Plenty of storage although short on hangers. Good lighting. Lovely pool area. Excellent staff. Jacob, Pietro, Danielle and Francisco looked after us very well. Good hotel if you want to just chill by the pool, but surrounding area unlovely. Rubbish strewn including a dead cat that was there when we arrived and still there when we left. Excellent pizza and pasta restaurant nearby, great food at very reasonable prices.

The hotel is adequate, the rooms need "refreshing" with paint and new carpet. The lovely pool was not filled with water when we were there in April... too cold, they said. The hotel is outside of town so it's not easy to walk to sights and restaurants. The hotel restaurant was a bit strange... perhaps it was because we were there in the "off season" but most of the time we were the only ones in a huge dining room. The staff was pleasant and helpful, but if I were to go to Mazara del Vallo again I would chose to stay in the town.

The Hotel Visir Spa & Resort....... on arriving by rental car through a very run down area we arrived at an oasis, the hotel looks smart and modern from the outside with lush gardens big palms and automatic fancy sliding front doors. Although to get to the front of the hotel you had to walk through some rather not nice odors similar to stagnant water.

On arriving in our 'Deluxe' room we found rips in the top sheet, the pillowcases did not fit worn out misshapen pillows, both pillows and bedding should have been replaced long ago, I wouldn't have even donated them to a charity shop, the bed did not look the least bit inviting, plus there were black scuff marks on the bed surround frame, scuffed paint on the skirting boards, a grimy bathroom fully equipped with dodgy plastic sliding shower doors, poorly repaired and grubby mosaic shower floor tiles, mismatched poor quality shabby off-white towels and thread bare well worn toweling bath robes.

We didn't find any tea coffee making facilities, iron/ironing board or room safe, there were two chairs on the balcony (with no view) but no table.

On bringing these 'observations to the person on duty at reception we were told that no other rooms were available and that the sheet would be changed as soon as possible. The sheet was changed but the bed linen it was replaced with although not ripped was old and tired looking.

I then contacted (back in England) voyage prive through whom I had booked the hotel, who assured us that our complaints would be addressed as soon as possible.

I can not fault the hotel staff who were extremely good and tried to be as helpful as possible but at the end of the day its the hotel management/owners who are responsible, the staff can only work with what they are given.

Because the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, a grotty run down un-appealing nowhere and the nearest beach rammed with literally 100's of regimented umbrellas and sun loungers we spent 6 days round the pool, repeatedly requesting that the always-being-played music be turned down. The pool bar staff were excellent, the drinks well chilled and served in glasses from the freezer were great but expensive. And the pools mosaic tiles provided endless amusement to children and adults alike to see how many they could find dislodged from the pool floor and sides.

As another reviewer has stated the hotel may well have been fantastic on opening but has gone down hill with poor maintenance and definitely not a good 4* property.

Included in my package were two spa treatments, I settled for a massage but they had no 'products' in the building for a facial treatment.

A saving grace was that the only place within walking distance to go out to eat was absolutely brilliant, a Bistro Pizzeria where you had to que for a table because each evening it seemed like everyone and their dog came from miles around to enjoy it, best pizza I've had in ages and cheap beer too!!

All through our stay the 'observations' were 'touched' up or at least attempted to be put right, but I would not recommend it as a place to go to.

Between them the hotel and voyage prive gave a complimentary dinner and lunch, but I'm afraid it was too little too late first impressions are lasting impressions
and those soured our weeks stay.
