We spent a week in Akmumal and the person at our resort's excursion desk arranged for us to spend a dat of birding through the mangroves of Si'an Ka'an along with snorkeling near the reef in Asuncion Bay. The Pesca Maya Fishing Lodge handled the early morning pick up from our resort (a one hour dive to the spot where...

My husband booked a day trip in August (the lodge's off-season) and I stayed behind to hang out at the lodge. We were both pleased. The lodge cooked me lunch even though I was the only one there when the fishing guides and tourists left (I felt bad, but I was hungry). They made me feel very at home. My...

Despite having torrential rains for the first 2 days of a 3 day trip, our guide, Henry Rodriguez, and his assistant, Rosendo Briseno, persevered. Great eyes, always aware of the wind direction, strong on the push pole, very fishy guides-everything you want for a fly fishing guide. I've also had Pancho Xec in the past, and he is very good,...

My wife and I just returned from a four night stay with four days fishing at Pesca Maya. Objectively, I was down at PM last year and wrote a review then under the same profile that I'm using today. I loved it then and love it now. I'll do my best to break down transports, fishing, dining, accommodations and anything...

In connection with a spring break trip to Playa del Carmen, I booked a day trip to Pesca Maya for me and my teenage kids. I had been to Pesca Maya the year before for a multiday fly fishing trip and wanted to share the experience with them. The van picked us up on time in PDC and we stopped...

My husband and I recently spent a week at Pesca Maya and fished 6 days. We have nothing but great remarks for the lodge and guides. We chose this location because of the reputation for catching large numbers of fish. We were not disappointed. Since it had been over 7 years since we last went bone fishing, we wanted some...

I went for a day trip fishing and brought my wife along to see some wildlife and enjoy the views while I fished. We are both Canadian and I fish a lot in lakes and rivers. We were picked up from our resort and dropped off the same day. The shuttle stopped at several resorts and was full heading in...

I went for a one day fishing trip and felt it was not worth the money. I have fished with many guides before but never had one that gave you the feeling of not caring if you caught fish or not. Phillipe's first mate let the fly line go under the boat or stepped on it while I was casting...

This fishing lodge has a special place in my heart for a number of reasons. Although getting to the lodge requires driving about an hour down a not-so-great gravel road, the fishing experience you will enjoy is much worth the drive. The location is secluded and absolutely beautiful. You're sure to catch the fish of your life at this lodge!

Pesca Maya Fishing Lodge opened its doors on January 1996 and has quickly become one of the Yucatan's most popular fishing destinations and with good reason. The lodge is located 90 miles south of Cancun in the 1.3 million acre Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. Situated on a long, narrow strip of barrier beach, the lodge is virtually surrounded by water. There are 11 rooms in 3 buildings, all with A/C and private bathroom with walk-in showers, most with oceanview. Located in a solitary white sand beach, turquoise water and a magnificent coral reef at 90 yards from the beach.
