KayaMawa is situated in the middle of two beaches on Likoma Island, Malawi. It is surprisingly easy to reach by planes from Jo'burg and Lusaka to Lilongwe and then onwards in a small Cessna to Likoma. KayaMawa owns the rocks and the public owns the beaches. We were delighted to see the locals washing in the lake and carrying water...

We spent 4 days in Kaya Mawa, after a safari in Botswana - 2 extremes but both wonderful. It was my husbands 50th birthday trip and Michelle had upgraded us so the family took over 2 houses! How they manage to combine such luxury into stone built houses literally built into the rock amazed me. The food is delicious and...

We arrived at Kaya Mawa after a Safari in Zambia, our first sight of the hotel from the plane as we flew in was magical and we weren't disappointed when we arrived there, we had a warm welcome from Michelle and were soon settling in to our rooms, We loved our beautiful room, Mbungo, nestled amongst the rocks up the...

Kaya Mawa is an extraordinary place on the island of Likoma. Brilliantly run and hosted by Michelle and Richard, its the perfect holiday destination if you want to get away from it all. Did the PADI course at the dive centre with ben - who was fantastic and we did some great (and very safe) diving in the fresh water....

Had a warm welcome after the flight and drive by the friendly manager Michelle. Soon entered one of the most beautiful rooms we'd ever seen with a spectacular view high above the lake. Everything looked perfectly in balance and felt absolutely relaxed. Enjoyed the clear (tested!) lakewater where we had a good swim, nice snorklings and did a lot of...

Fantastic place. We had the family room right on the beach. It was beautifully appointed and had everything we needed. The staff were fantastic - Michelle made us feel tremendously welcome from the moment we arrived. The true star of the show however was the food, which was fantastic. Best I've had in Malawi and the fact it's on an...

What a treat. After a week spent in the Lilongwe area doing service work, we came with a small group to unwind for our last few days. I had no expectation whatsoever and was stunned by the beauty of this place. I spent the first 12 hours saying to myself - wow. The cottages were so chic. Super simple, very...

Kaya Mawa really is lovely, and so relaxing. Michelle met us off our plane and settled us in and I must say that the staff from management all the way through to the lovely girls who look after you in your room were so friendly and very attentive. The room was gorgeous and very spacious. We had our own lounge...

It is very difficult to put into words the peace and beauty of Kaya Mawa. Our room was built into the rocks of the stunning bay where Kaya Mawa is situated. You need to be fairly sure-footed to ascend the rocky pathway to some of the rooms, but it is worth it when you get there. There was a completely...

It is truly a hidden gem! Lets just say this place is a little piece of heaven....a diamond in the rough! One of the most romantic places I have stayed at, and I have traveled quite extensively. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave Michelle, the manager, and the staff pampers you. Dinners/lunches can be be on...
