My room was very nice. It has AC and that was life saving I can say. The location is very nice. Its in the middle of the town and transportation is very accessible. The breakfast was good but I didn't eat more than one day because I wanted to try the street foods. I faced water problem on my last day and that was disappointing. Overall I have a very good time there.

We left the hotel after 1 night in their "suite" room... instead of three nights. The worst !! You can find many different hotels in Dire Dawa where the wifi, lift and especially toilets actually work.

Best restaurant, service in Diredawa! It has 24 hrs service. Breakfast as wonderful.good Wi-Fi . Clean area, good sweeping pool. Also the price is very cheap compared to the new hotels with poor service.

The hotel rooms were good, most of the staff were also friendly and accommodating. I stayed in this hotel for almost a week and on one occasion I had to get some more spending money from the money transfer locations and the reception staff really treated me like a thief and I have never in my entire life felt so embarrassed. I have tried explaining the situation to the reception staff and even though they had my passport they wouldn’t let me collect my money so that I could pay the fees for the night I stayed. I’ve explained I needed my passport to collect my money and they did not care one bit and kept shouting and requesting that I pay. I finally arranged for the money transfer staff to bring me the money at the hotel so that I can show them my passport. Never ever have I felt this embarrassed over $35 approximately.…

What could be a beautiful hotel is so badly managed that you feel like screaming at everyone working there! No hot water. Light bulbs that do not work.Poor service at the restaurant , although food reasonable . To top it all flies all over the bread at breakfast and no one seemed to care.

We encountered many problems in our stay. I did not have hot water in my room the entire time, and one day there was no water at all. The breakfast is limited and poor. The bed is hard as a rock and impossible to sleep on. Most of the staff were trying to be helpful. But I will not go back. The restaurant at the Samrat Hotel is excellent, so I would stay there next time.

Stayed two nights and overall it was OK! Encouraged by the reasonable price, I decided to take a deluxe room which was acceptable. The only major thing that was not good is the bathroom. A Jacuzzi Cubicle was fixed but not functional and half of the sliding door was missing. I had to mind not splashing water all over the place. Things you should keep in mind before you book: - There is a power cut sometimes which is out of the hotel control. expect this in other hotels in this area! - WiFi connection is awful which is also something common in my judgement. I have experienced this is Addis as well. - Hot water is not available all the time. Once I faced this issue and I made a complain to the front desk and they told me it will be pumped staring from midnight. I did not wait to check that but in the morning there was hot water. Overall, if you are the kind of the person who focus on the bright side, you will not be very disappointed by staying here!…

I used to know this hotel for long it used to be 'aged'. But this time when I stayed there ( Mar 2019) I witnessed that the management took effort to re innovate the property. The room I stayed in was suite room and is spacious having AC , and all the other basic amenities. I have to mention the bath room ' steam bath' needs maintenance. Breakfast is not that good but they have nice juice. The staff is very helpful and makes your feel at home.

From the outside, Ras hotel looks like any other concrete building but take a few steps further and you will be welcomed by friendly staff, high ceilings and large dangling chandeliers. The lobby is huge, open and airy and best place to get a wifi signal although wifi is spotty. Our room was clean and all amenities worked, safe, fridge, tv, washroom. It was cleaned daily. Beds stiff but comfortable and clean. Ac worked at 17 degrees, not as strong as I liked but provided a simple breeze. Lukewarm shower was ok. Buffet breakfast was tasty, enjoyed omeletes, vegetables and different kinds of injeras. Our son was happy with the room and the fact that the TV had a channel solely for cartoons. Way to win a 3 yr old's vote! Loved this hotel for what it offered and at $35US price for this Ethiopian 5 star is a high contender. Thanks.…

The "Ras Hotel" seems the best choice here, thus I rated it very good according the circumstances in Dire Dawa and in comparison with its neighbour hotel. The security setup is ok, and staff in general professional, polite and helpful. The swimming pool in the rear is located nicely within the surrounding garden and guests make use of it. The suite rooms are spacious and the matress of good quality, the AC and TV are functioning well, and so are the sanitation facilities. The restaurant offers a menu with a good variety of dishes and good quality done by the kitchen crew. The bar is well stocked, the fact that they offer South African wine out of the plastic bag and card board may raise questions, however it may be of logistic reasons [?]. The breakfast is of acceptable quality and they offer also warm local food. Room charges are reasonable and more or less at the same level among the various hotels in the area.…
