I would not be as enthusiastic as other reviewers but there is certainly nothing wrong with this place. Well signposted from the centre of Chard you have to drive through an uninspiring modern housing estate before opening onto a short lane across farmland to reach this converted farmhouse. The public areas are very pleasant with an open fire, comfortable bar... More

We found the hotel to be pleasant, the staff were friendly and helpful, the food very tasty (although a bit too much salt on our meals), food and drinks reasonably priced, the room, although a little small and bit tired round the edges(!) , was clean and comfortable. Bed was fine. Shower was lovely and hot!! The place could do... More

We managed to escape from our busy life for three nights recently. A friend had booked a treat of two nights at the hotel for us and when we confirmed the booking we increased it to three on impulse. Not a mistake! After a long journey the approach through Chard and then a housing estate was a little unnerving as... More

I had been tempted on a number of occasions to take up a Groupon offer to stay at The Lordleaze but I have known Chard for many years and it has never impressed me as a place in which I would naturally choose to stay, but that is a personal view I realise others would not share. However, I do... More

Very comfortable and friendly hotel, stayed 3 nights on a deal and really enjoyed the stay. Room was perfectly adequate, nice bathroom and facilities. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and made the stay a comfortable one. Quiet location surrounded by fields, with access through a relatively new housing estate so well off the beaten track. Pleasant bar and lounge... More

Our room was very comfortable, and the bathroom was well laid out, with an excellent shower. Everything about the room was lovely. Whoever cleaned the room needed to be complimented as the quality of the cleaning and attention to detail was unquestionably good. The Breakfasts were of a very high quality, good produce, well cooked and the presentation was excellent.... More

Stayed here 2 Nights on a groupon deal, only £19.50pppn. Great Value,Lovely Public Areas, Nice Breakfast, though some workman staying spoiled the atmosphere a little as they hogged the comunal offerings at breakfast & used some in appropriate language when chatting to each other. friendly Helpful Staff, Large Room, with bath & shower, though a bit lacking in character, view of derelict... I stayed here last week in a group of eight people visiting chard. The Hotel is in the pleasant countryside setting of Chard. I have to say my room was beautifully presented and clean. The bar area was pleasant and the bar staff helpful, polite and very professional ! The evening meal of Ribeye steak was cooked to perfection and... More

Me and my fiancé stayed here at the beginning of March, we stayed for two nights and found our accommodation comfortable and clean. Decor was a bit dated but the hotel was spotless, arriving through the housing estate was a little disappointing but hardly the fault of the hotel. We didn't order dinner as we thought we would go and... More
