We've lived a stone's throw from the Haymaker for nearly 4 years, but it has taken until the latest landlord for them to figure out the menu. Gone are the pre-packed 'Hunters Chicken' and 'Vegetarian Lasagne' and they are now serving home-made burgers with unique Garnish (the Ploughman's Burger was delicious), an exciting and tasty vegetarian curry, and lot of...

We stayed at The Haymaker 6 weeks into the new proprietors had taken over . Whilst the facilities and decor are dated the accomodation is clean and the atmosphere homely. This dog friendly pub provides a good menu and a range of real ales. The couple are very friendly and appear very enthusiastic to make this Inn a success.Keep up...

We booked last minute and the price was good. The breakfasts were the usual cooked breakfast and plenty of it. The shower in our room was scalding hot as the thermostat was faulty. We were moved to another room where the shower was good. The pub closes on a monday so had to eat elsewhere in the evening. The evening...

New management. They only had bar menu. We chose lasagne, but we had to leave 30% hard and stuck to the dish. Overcooked twice I should think. We also found customer care non existent. Landlord didn't seem to care at all.

We were unlucky enough to be at this establishment on the weekend the previous landlord was leaving. I can only say this is the worst value for money breakfast we have ever had. No fruit juice, no bread roll, no cereal, no fruit (either tinned or fresh) and the full English breakfast consisted of one rasher of bacon, a table...

My family and I (6) of us have just stayed here for the night. It's under new management and they have o.ly been there for 3 days, judging by the reviews in the past it was due new owners. Theres no dout the place needs an uplift but give the new management a chance. Beds were comfy, showers were very...

Although the greeting was warm and the building a bit battered and quaint, at 80 for the larger bed the offering was overpriced. The bed was incredibly comfy , as good as any Premier Inn, BUT at 4:30am with the morning light streaming through the inadequate curtains, my night that had already been disturbed by the noise of voices, TVs,...

Pros: owners very friendly and welcoming. Rooms clean, smart and modern with en suite. Nice location in the countryside. Free WiFi and takes card payments. Reasonably priced. Cons: not in walking distance of Chard and in isolated location. Food surprisingly average.

Went for a family meal 10 of us . I had hunters chicken which I wasn't impressed with as the chicken was on the bone and the BBQ sauce was very spicy and waited nearly 1 hour to get but all the other meals looked very good and the rest of them said it was lovely . I think I...
