I liked this place. Its surrounded by fantastic scenery and has some great sunsets over the surrounding mountains. its a but of a hodge podge arrangement of rooms, pool and reception with attached dining area. It also caters to all types including overland trucks which is definitely not ideal - people in overland trucks are best avoided, so are the...

After a long day of driving through the desert, we were a little apprehensive upon arriving at the gate, but once we parked and made our way through to reception and the lodge we found it to be a nice little gem in the desert. Hammerstein is no 5 star lodge and sure there is some room for improvement, but...

Arriving at the gate it gave the impression of a construction site more than a motel. We were taken to our room which was one in a row just like a motel. It was a small room with two single beds. No fridge. No warm water kettle. A small bathroom. And two small chairs and a small table. The bed...

We got a warm and friendly welcome at the Hammerstein Lodge and planned to stay at the campsite. Due to very heavy rain and thunderstorm we got complementary rooms which surprised us and we were very thankful for! The location itself is quite remote and therefor a good break while travelling through the Namib. The lodge is well-maintain and relaxing....

Hammerstein is located in the Namib desert about 2 KM off route C19, maybe 30 KM south of Sesriem. From the road, there are only the metal animal carvings to suggest such a comfortable and pleasant spot exists off eastward behind some granite outcrops. African Checklist: Showers √. Hot water: √. Working toilet √. Sink with stopper & hot and...

This lodge offer good value for money. Rooms are average but the whole lodge atmosphere is very good. The bar is the center of all the lodge with beautiful woodwork. The food is good honest fare with a lot of it. You can take a tour with the cheetahs inside their cage.

Like many of the Nambian lodges, it used to be an old farm later reconverted to a tourist facility. Premises and lodging are cozy, and people very friendly. For only 100 Namibian $ you can see big felines, including caracals (desert lynx), leopards and cheetahs. Most surprising, you can enter the cages where lynx and cheetahs are kept and, depending...

This was a very welcome stopover in the desert. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and so are the beds. The only thing I really could have done with was some heating as it dose get very cold in the desert at night. It as extensive grounds with so very nice areas where animals like...

We went on an accommodated Nomad tour. When compared with our other accommodation Hammersdale lodge falls short. Accommodation at this lodge is very basic. Beautiful animals (antelope and wildcats) are kept in rather small enclosures. This is totally unacceptable in a country that promotes echo-tourism. The staff is not very friendly. Our room was not serviced. When we complained about...

After a long days cycle Hammerstein is a welcome stop over. The pool is clean and refreshing and they serve COLD beverages to wash down the dust. The rooms are basic like most places in this area but clean. A coffee bar is available at reception for during the day use, and when leaving early (05:00) for the dunes, the...
