Our charming rustic Pousada is ideally situated on Tiririca beach (800m from Pituba, Itacare's main street), where the ocean and the Atlantic Rainforest meet, and one of the best surf peaks of northeastern Brazil. Our 6 Suites (3 with splendid ocean and beach views) are all differentiated and private and are equipped with a queen size bed (Ibisco has king size and single bed), microtule rectangular mosquito net, full bathroom (tiled) with glass shower box and hot water, air conditioning, mini fridge, chest, shelves and clothes hangers, bedside table and lamp. All Suites have a veranda or patio surrounded by lots of plants, with hammock, table and stools or sofa, drying rack and surfboard rack. We serve a delicious and varied breakfast - made with high quality products, fresh ingredients, organic milk/yoghurt/eggs, tropical fruit and juices, cakes, crepes, omelets, cheese buns, tapioca = manioc root based crepe - on our large outdoor deck overlooking the ocean. Free WIFI, books to lend during your stay. For your convenience we also offer taxi transfer from Ilheus airport for R$440 (return).

Just paradise. It is a rustic place, very clean, with diagonal sea view. It has all the amenities you can ask for in a tropical environment (baby beds, armchairs to read or rest, outside shower to take the sand off the beach. Breakfast is very tasty, healthy and hearty. Nele her owner, she is an excellent hostess who stays because you are comfortable and have what you need. In our case, we used to eat breakfast with different seeds (chia, linase, sesame, etc. and Nele had everything for us). We are very grateful to Nele for all his personal humane treatment and his attention and affection. We arrived in Itacaré to celebrate our anniversary and the room was beautifully decorated for the occasion. For us this inn made our experience in Itacaré the most.

Great guesthouse for those who like the rustic style, all in wood, two steps from Tiririca beach, inserted in the local nature, excellent cleanliness, perfect breakfast, and Neila, the owner, treated us like family. I highly recommend!!!

Nele, the owner of the inn, is a very cordial person. He welcomed us personally and made a point of helping us whenever we asked for his suggestions. The room is tidy, but the view is sensational. Sleeping with the sound of the waves was the highlight. Very good breakfast too.

"rustic" is the optimum word here. The Tanara is located just steps from Tiririca Beach, you can also access Resende Beach with an easy walk, both beautiful locations that serve food and beverages on the sand until dark, and where the action all happens during peak seasons. We arrived around 5:00PM for our 4 night stay, the reception was efficient and we were quickly shown our room and settled in. The property itself while "rustic", is well maintained and clean, amenities are simple, but more than adequate. It's a safe, 10 minute walk to the area with all of the best restaurants and shops. This was very convenient as it was the holidays and we didn't have to drive anywhere after settling in.
Our spacious, clean room had one very comfortable double bed and a comfortable single, I mention this, because single beds in Brazil pousadas usually consist of a rock hard mattress. The bathroom was functional and clean, with a spacious shower that delivered hot water; again, not always the case in Brazil, where shower space can be tiny. The air conditioner worked fine, and there is a small refrigerator stocked with beverages. But it's really not about the room. The spacious veranda area overlooked the ocean and provided cool breezes at night, there is a large comfortable chair and hammock. Also, surfboard racks which we used to dry our beach stuff at the end of the day.
The staff is efficient and friendly; you really don't have much interaction with them, as even though Tarana was sold out while we were there, it sometimes felt we were the only ones there. Nellie, the owner, was at breakfast the first day to meet us, her story is very interesting and she runs a tight ship. Breakfast is simple, bread, cake, fruit, beverages, but the kitchen staff serves one different made to order item each morning; we enjoyed the frittata, omelette, tapioca (local favorite) and eggs made to order. The staff will do a bag of laundry for you for a very small fee.
We enjoyed our visit to Itacare, and plan on returning, our measure of lodging is if we would stay there again, and in the case of Tamara, we absolutely would.

This guesthouse is a DREAM…literally! Waking up to this view….or seeing your love surfing from the balcony (in the hammock)…what an incredible experience. The owner (Neila) is super attentive… right from booking the accommodation. The cafe is very good, with a wonderful view.

The best view of Itacare! I could watch the surfers from my varanda hammock😃 Pousada Tanara is a cozy, rustic hotel with open areas inviting the guest to enjoy the nature that surrounds it. It’s a perfect location for people who enjoy surfing and swimming at a beach with waves. The breakfast was delicious with local tasty fruits and different hot dishes such as savory and sweet crepes. It’s a great place to either just relax at the beach or enjoy multiple activities that Itacare offers.

The Pousada is located steps from the incredible Tiririca beach - we stayed in the suite named 'Ibisco' and cannot recommend it enough. The bed is very comfortable with a charming balcony - you can hear the sea from bed! The owner was kind to share many recommendations of things to do in the area (beaches/surfing/restaurants/trails...etc) and welcome us with very warm hospitality. Breakfast was fabulous!

Our stay at pousada Tanara was great. The location is perfect, close to the center and by the Tiritica beach where you can find restaurant options, surf lessons and good waves. Great breakfast was served, with fresh fruits and different options every morning. The staff was tremendously helpful and had the best tips. Room was cozy and with a nice balcony. Definitely felt like home. Would highly recommend!!!
