The place could use a major overhaul; it was like a throwback to the 1970s and probably has not been renovated since then. Because this is the year of the Covid, no breakfast service as available except for a "continental breakfast" at a cost of $14 each plus taxes. No thank you!! The receptionist was not a people person (and that's putting it politely); she was borderline flippant and impolite. The room itself was adequate, but the carpet had a big cigarette burn on it (and it was supposed to be a non-smoking room)! The receptionist made a point of telling us that they would charge us if we removed the hand sanitizer bottle from the room; really?!!!! The rooms were not very well insulated as I could hear noise from the hallways all night long. The only positive is the view of the fjords facing the hotel.…
Terrible experience. When we received the room, our view was the parking lot and the entrance...when asking another room, it wasn’t possible but we were not the last ones to check in. The owner will contact you next morning. Never heard of him. The next morning the sun was shining in the room, felt like a sauna. No AC and as we were basically on the parking lot and entrance with our window, no possibility or privacy to open window and curtains.
The night when I reserve they told me one price make me sign paper and they keep it next morning get there too pay and told me another price and never want too show me the one I sign. So for hands up if you go there take a picture paper you sign so next morning they can't raise the price.
One of the most beautiful places to stay in Quebec! Luxurious decor overlooking the Saguenay “La Baie” It is friendly, clean quiet and quite romantique!!! I am confident that you will not find a better place to stay. A real gem.
We stayed just one night whilst riding by. Great view and nice place to walk around. Restaurant is good and Expensive. Room was ordinary or standard, but clean, for 160$ plus all the taxes...?????? Was expecting better.
The hotel is on the waterfront with a nice immediate view of the bay, and the La Baie harbourside area is only a short walk away, but sadly there is a factory in the other direction which detracts from the overall beauty. The restaurant had a nice feel, breakfast was good, evening meal seemed more about artful presentation. Somehow reception and general feel lacked some charm, no lounge/ bar area, although the hotel lobby is smartly done. La Baie seemed a quiet ( but tidy) place to us. However the road trip along the Saguenay Fiord route passed through some lovely villages, in particular L’Anse Saint Jean
Stayed in this Hotel / Spa for a few days in the Off Season because travelling to La Baie on business in late March. Despite the quiet time they still offered full service meals in the restaurant, a late check in and all the comforts needed when travelling. Typical French hospitality and catering was absolutely most excellent. I would certainly most recommend a visit to this town, hotel and beautiful area even if you are not there on business. View from the room was amazing, especially at dawn.
Have been going to this place for 10+ years. The view is incredible and the food is among the best in the region. The staff is friendly and efficient. The hotel is being renovated at the moment. Nothing to disrupt your stay
the view was lovely, so we could open the window and get some relief from the very very noisy air conditioner; very comfortable beds, and a spacious room. Not a lot of charm, though. We also found that the hotel is very stingy when it comes to coffee and tea bags- we had booked a room with two queen beds which was supposed to accommodate 4 people, which means 4 people have to share one tea bag and one coffee- or bathroom products, especially when you consider the price they charge. the hotel prides itself on using local, organic or environmentally friendly products and so on, but we noticed that the hotel paper was manufactured in china!
The Auberge des 21 is a combination spa, superior motel, and restaurant, facing a unique fjord. The room was fine, facilities standard (and functional, and very clean), the view excellent. Parking was abundant, and free. There are cafes in the area, bu we chose to eat in the restaurant, which serves very good food. So, all in all, if you are going up the Saguenay fjord, this is a very good place to stop off.
