A typical Newfoundland experience: the owner/greeter/chef was warm and charming. The bedrooms were small but had everything one might need. Eileen was lovely and ready to answer any questions or provide us with any possible needs. Breakfast was made to order and served with a smile and delightful conversation.
My husband and I had the privilege to stay at Peg’s Place on the beautiful Island of Fogo. Each morning we were treated to a tasty hot breakfast of eggs ( cooked our way) with toast from homemade bread, and at least six homemade jams to top it off. We also had the choice of apple or orange juice, coffee or tea. The B&B is very homey, and a great way to meet couples from all across the country. Eileen and Gerald go out of their way to make your stay a very memorable experience.
The owner is super nice and clean. Her name is Eileen and she makes everything from scratch: fruit jams and bread. The kitchen is clean and accessible for guests. She came to set up coffee machine every evening and started making breakfast at 7:30am. She cooked eggs at your choices: scrambled or boiled…the whole breakfast was wonderful. She has been in the business for 20 years and no wonder she got so many compliments from guests reviews!
Just as advertised. Great location and a wonderful host who was willing to share her local knowledge. A comfortable, clean, and friendly stay. The breakfasts were particularly good, especially the homemade bread.
Fabulous place to stay in Fogo, Eileen is so friendly and helpful, able to get us into a restaurant on short notice. Room was clean and comfy, fully cooked breakfast in the morning was great, homemade bread and jam, and of course other items ,lol. Will definitely stay here again and recommend to family and friends.
We so enjoyed our stay here, including the fabulous breakfasts with homemade bread & jam. Experienced our first impromptu kitchen party; a couple who were hired to play & sing elsewhere on the island & throughout Newfoundland stayed here, & gave us a wonderful concert. We all joined in the jolly singing, & passed the wine around. Fun memories we’ll never forget.
We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at Peg's Place. We had a room just off the side of the building, with a small verandah, for ease of baggage. The room was definitely snug, but clean as a whistle with everything you need. It was a real pleasure to sit and chat with Eileen over breakfast, she is a great resource for local information around Fogo. Check in and check out was easy, lots of parking.
We stayed at Peg’s for 4 nights in late August and truly enjoyed our experience. Eileen (the proprietor) gave us all the tips on local sights and activities, and insights into the history and politics of the Island. The B&B was very cute and well maintained, with good wifi. Breakfast was delicious (we couldn’t get enough of her homemade bread and jams!). The location was superb in the town of Fogo, close to great hikes and restaurants, and a short 15min drive from almost everything we wanted to do in nearby towns. Would definitely stay here again!
We arrived on a rainy day and stayed 2 nights in this lovely bed and breakfast in the picturesque town of Fogo. The town had more amenities than most towns on Fogo Island and everything worth seeing and experiencing on the island is a short distance away!! We walked the stunningly beautiful Fogo Island trail and stopped for a couple of afternoon drinks at the world renowned Fogo island inn. Had great Chinese food?? An unexpected find!! And the lightest crispiest battered fish and chips at the Beaches bar - unfortunately I too late in the season for the traditional live music!! Eileen was a wonderful host providing an excellent breakfast with homemade preserves and freshly picked blueberries!! A very memorable visit!!
The owners of Peg's Place are very knowledgeable about the area and offered great tips about what to see and do. We were there for the Brimstone Head Folk Festival and they really helped us out in terms of navigating the event. The breakfasts each morning were fantastic with homemade bread and jams. We were treated with patience and kindness from our first hello to our final goodbye. We will never forget our wonderful stay there! Beth J.
