My wife and I toured eastern Newfoundland during the last two weeks of September 2016, staying in B & Bs. There was not one B & B to which we would not return. We spent one night in Peg's and had a great chat with Eileen and Gerard when we arrived. Wished we had more time to hear more. Our main floor room was small but comfortable.

My first visit to Fogo. Peg's Place was clean and the bed very comfortable after a day hiking and touring. The common area is perfect venue for meeting others. Breakfast is at your own pace, fulsome, with variety of delicious jams. I liked the Partridgeberry jam the best.

We stayed at Pegs in late Sept. The wife and I would highly recommend this B and B to any one who ventures to Fogo Island. Fogo , Joe Batts Arm and Tilting are rich in history and warm friendly people. Thanks to Eileen and Gerald for the great memories. We will be back !!

Peg's Place was a great experience for us, from the arrival greeting by Gerard to the many discussions we had with Eileen throughout our stay. The B&B is all that the pictures show and more. The attention to detail in the furnishings was very much appreciated by us and added to our stay. The location is excellent for accessing other areas in the town of Fogo. The continental breakfast is excellent with home made bread, muffins and jams. There is a large selection of cereals either hot or cold, yogurt, fresh fruit, juice, etc. Walking around the neighbourhood allowed us to meet neighbours who were not only welcoming but provided suggestions of things to do that one might not normally know.If we were to revisit Fogo Island, or if family/friends were to visit,we would definitely…

We liked the owner's approach to kitchen access; notes on cupboards, self-use of pans, juices, cereals etc. The honour system worked well while we were there as we enjoyed being able to make our own tea, coffee, boiled eggs etc. We had the room right beside the office, it was quiet but lacked a little privacy. Upstairs rooms were accessed by a cool winding staircase. Owners were friendly, especially the accordion player. Good location.

The town of Fogo is a wonderful place to visit and for us Peg's was a good base. Eileen gave us great directions and helped us to find some attractions we would otherwise have missed. Our room was clean and the bed was great so we slept well after some adventurous days. However, the rooms are very small so be prepared to have not much space in which to move around. We left one suitcase in the car. The continental breakfast is reasonable, pretty much what we have at home.

We are happy that we decided to stay at Peg's on Fogo Island. Our hosts, the owners, Eileen and Gerald Freake are native Islanders and have a wealth of never ending information on the island and the natives. We had the run of their home and sitting in their living room gazing out at the harbour was a favourite pasttime of mine after a day of exploring the area. The continental breakfast was wonderful. Home made bread, muffins and jams from freshly picked local berries. A large assortment of cereal either hot or cold, yogurt, fresh fruit, juice, boiled or scrambled eggs etc. The first one up and ready for breakfast started the coffee pot. Our room was small. but we were only in it to sleep. The bed was comfortable. The location in the house was great for us. It…

Basic room amenities and a modest continental breakfast await you at this comfortable B & B. The queen bed was adequate. A modest single seat desk and a reading chair provided. Ensuite bath consisted of a pedestal sink and tub/shower combo. The room was about 200 SF. As basic lodgings go, this property was average. The owner, Eileen greeted us upon late arrival (Ferry was delayed for three guests that night), and called over to a Cafe to stay open so we could grab dinner before they closed. That was the last we saw of Eileen. The morning ofering was a common kitchen open for sel-serve with basic cereal and breads, apples, oranges and bananas, and coffee. Guests expected to self-bus and clean-up. The location in town was fine. Nothing special.

I cannot tell you why exactly Peg's provides such a great overall experience, except that Eileen seems to have thought it all through and as a result staying there is like being home. Her front room is accessible to all the guests and stocked with lots of local information, the dining table can be used for a game of cards, and breakfast is there when you want it, no fuss, just come and eat! Rooms are nicely done and very clean, a bit small but manageable. Being on Fogo Island was such a joy in all aspects, and staying at Peg's added to that pleasure.
