Peg is very kind and accommodating. Her coffee table is full of printouts and pamphlets with attractions and the history of the area. She's a daily hiker and has great recommendations for hikes. We went on 2 of her recommended hikes which ended up being the most memorable experiences from our Newfoundland trip. Her B&B is more of typical motel layout, in that each room has it's own private entrance off of a small porch. We rented a small private room which had a tiny bathroom, TV, and 2 tiny nightstands. The bed was comfortable, and there was great water pressure and fresh towels. Peg must be the healthiest woman on the Rock! Her breakfast was spectacular! To go with the oatmeal, she had a table full of healthy toppings including hemp seeds, walnuts, cranberries, flax

We had a wonderful stay at Fogo thanks to the sunny weather and fantastic hiking trails. Peg is situated close to both the Lion's Den trail and Brimstone Head (both recommended by Eileen). The larger ensuite room upstairs is very comfortable. The water from the tap is yellow but we could get water from the watercooler downstairs at the kitchen. We had lunch at Beaches Bar & Grill (salmon, potato and vegetables), a burger and salad $30. We also enjoyed some shopping at the Riff's. Breakfast was a nice spread of porridge with assorted healthy toppings, toast with variety of homemade jam, coffee, tea, juice and fruits.

We stayed at Peg's for 2 nights and hated to leave. Our room was clean and well appointed. Eileen and her husband are great hosts and we were fortunate to be there for some musical entertainment. Gerald played the ugly stick and a young man played the button accordion. It was magic. There is an abundance of information available about Fogo Island history and attractions in the main sitting room and Peg was great about giving us advice about trails and "must sees". We fell in love with the island. It is like stepping back in time. A meal at Nicole's is a must and Peg was happy to make reservations for us. Our breakfasts were great with a great assortment of local jams and a lovely fruit salad. Thank you Peg and Gerald for making our stay so wonderful.

We stayed at Peg's for one night in a very lovely, outside room with it's own entrance. It was comfortable and pristine with everything we needed. We enjoyed talking to Eileen and learning about Fogo Island. She was so helpful in booking dinner for us at Nicole's Cafe (superb!!) and telling us where the different trails were. We enjoyed a great breakfast and felt right at home so quickly! We loved Fogo Island..the spectacular scenery and the warmth of the people. Wonderful memories.

We only had one night on Fogo island and stayed at Pegs. When we arrived she wasn't there but down at her daughters and that threw us off a little but only for a minute. Peg came back and showed us to our room. She had converted a walk in closet to a bathroom to give you a private bath. The room wasn't anything special but it certainly was fine for the night. Breakfast was very simple but the homemade jams were good.

The highlight of staying at Peg's is if you are there for the band practice. The B&B is a magnet for young musicians since Gerald teaches them. It was really cute to have kids from the area come over and play traditional songs on the porch. It felt like such a unique Newfoundland experience. We were there for an oddly hot week, so found our bedroom a bit uncomfortable (I feel like this is probably a rare complaint on a trip to Newfoundland though). We also stayed in the bedroom right by the front hall which felt not very private. Eileen was so helpful in advising us on the walking trails. We went on two gorgeous trails within minutes of the B&B. The view from Fogo Head was one of the most spectacular views of my life, and it's about a 30 minute walk from the front door.

I had just one night in Fogo and am very happy with the decision I made to stay at Peg's. The house is very inviting and spacious. I was in one of the outside rooms which allows a bit more privacy yet is within steps of the large living room and kitchen. Eileen and her husband were so lovely and welcoming. They live right downstairs and check in often but don't hover and make you feel uncomfortable like a few places I have stayed. Breakfast was amazing! You can pay a bit extra for a hot breakfast but the continental was just fine for me and the 2 other guests that I shared with. There was cereal (hot too!) and the yummiest homemade bread ever! And Eileen had little bowls of nuts and toppings for the oatmeal and dishes of the best homemade jams. Do not pass this place by.

We had an excellent experience at Peg's B&B. The owners were extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The house was very cozy, tidy, and everything we needed was at our finger tips. We were also provided with a very helpful map and list of things to do in the area. We couldn't have asked for more out of our stay at Peg's B&B, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Fogo.

Our plans of staying only one night at Peg's became two when a North Atlantic storm came in and shut down the mainland ferry service. Eileen was very understanding and accomodating to our predicament with the iffy ferry schedule. We stayed in the large Master Suite which is up the narrow staircase and faces the harbour. It was spotless. The high winds were scary but we felt very secure in the room. The common room was quite comfortable and we had run of the kitchen, freezer and microwave. There is an extra charge if you chose to have a hot breakfast rather than the plentiful continental breakfast provided. You will love Eileen's homemade bread.

At all the places we stayed on a recent cross island trip, the host couldn't have been more friendly. That description certainly fits Eileen Freake, whose great breakfast included an unexpected bowl of fresh fruit. The water in our en suite bathrooms was noticably yellow and a large container of fresh water in the kitchen used for coffee increased our concern about water from the taps. We wondered if it was fit to drink or brush teeth. A sign would have been helpful. The rooms were a bit on the small side, but the house was spotless and comfortable . For $80 we thought we had excellent value.
