We have been coming to this little gem for 20 years, covid excepted.
It is family owned, one daughter trained to be an architect and boy does it show.
The views of the unesco protected valley take your breath away
Each year more improvements are apparent
There is a spa, indoor pool, gym and a grotto.
In the grounds separately is another old building and that is the restaurant Barba Rosa
The mediaeval town is 800 yards away and unspoilt
They filmed Medici there

First of all I had the pleasure to communicate with Alberto who answered directly on my questions asked via Facebooks messenger.
We had booked the full wellness package and got a very detailed tour by Alberto before entering.
If you are to choose between the two wellness packages, choose the one incl. the caves. Absolutely worth it and a real treat.
We had dinner at the Taverna, great quality and even if the place was full (Saturday evening), the service was rather quick. The staff very friendly and good at suggesting wines and plates.
After our return home, we got another courtesy email, which just shows how they really care about their clients. We will definitely come back another time.
P.s Great location for visiting Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza and Castiglione del Lago. Recommendable end of September to still catch great weather, but much less tourists than during spring.

Casanova Wellnes Center is located just outside the village center of San Quirico d'orcia. Can't complain about the setting. The scenery is stunning and the experience chilling out by the pool is fantastic. However, the rest of the facility is dated both in terms of decor and furnishings. The rooms are good sized and the beds are comfy. All in all it could use a bit of an overhaul/restauration.

Stayed for 2 weeks in May 18. The hotel is well presented with a lovely outside pool, patio area and views across the Val d'Orcia. Sadly the details let this hotel down. Our first room was a spilt level suite which when we first viewed it looked to be excellent. Unbeknown to us the rooms along the corridor we were in had been designed such that the ensuite of the adjoining suite was immediately adjacent to the bedroom we were in. Consequently, when anybody in a nearby room visited the toilet during the night it was as if we were in there with them. Equally, when somebody left the room early on a morning the doors would close so loudly it was like a firecracker going off. The corridors are all tiled so anyone talking or walking could be heard.

We reported these failings to front desk who initially told us nobody would be staying in the rooms near us for the remainder of our stay - this was a lie, one night later and more noise, no sleep and I even took to sleeping on the couch downstairs. We complained again and this time the staff were good enough to move us to a quieter room which was much better, although far from ideal.

Let's talk about breakfast - for a hotel that is supposed to be a spa / wellness centre the offering is shocking. There's no fresh milk, pastries are the type one would buy in bulk at a supermarket and coffee is served from one machine that is to cope with dozens of guests. There's also no fresh fruit juice just second rate rubbish served from a large dispenser. What's worse is nothing is replenished during the morning, so if a large group of say photographers turn up after a boring shoot at say 7am they'll literally take everything. When we asked where the pastries had gone we were flippantly told there were no more and they'd been eaten. Appalling!!

The hotel has a restaurant adjacent which it apparently owns - we ate in there several times and while the staff were lovely the food was awful.

We also found it extraordinary that a so called spa /wellness hotel did not have any provision for food either at lunchtime or as a snack - so expect to make a visit to the co-op nearby if you expect to stay around say the pool all day.

In conclusion we were so disappointed - the hotel looks lovely but peel away the shiny veneer and serious cracks appear. We would not return, nor recommend.

Arrived at the hotel and had an amazing massage, fantastic value, our room was very nice as well.

If it wasn’t for the spa and hotel I would have rated this one star because of the restaurant experience. The restaurant was dirty broken windows etc.... I ordered the turkey breast it was served undercooked , I sent it back and it wasn’t edible, tomato salad presentation was not professional at all.

Hard to believe the restaurant was the same owners as the hotel as experiences were day and night.

We have stayed many times in the apartments in Casanova. The service from the friendly staff is excellent. The cleanliness of the rooms, pools, gym and communal areas are impeccable. The restaurant gets busy, so one needs to book in advance and the food truly is Tuscan specialities (large portions too) The village is within a 6 minute stroll. We enjoy best using their apartments where we prepare a lazy late brunch using fresh local produce from the village. The spa is relaxing and the countryside has breathtaking views, as do some of their apartments.

This was our second visit to Casanova. The first was while on a bike tour six years ago. We went back because of the great experience we had before. The hotel is in a beautiful setting, with an enormous pool outside. There is also a roman bath type spa pool inside. This time, the spa pool was only luke warm, not what we had before. We opted to get a massage this time, and I was a little disappointed that I was charged 10 Euros more for my "hot stone" massage, since the stones weren't even warm! All in all, though, this hotel is a great place to stay while travelling through Tuscany. We had a private patio, comfy beds, good pillows...what else do you need?

It was late, and had previously stopped at another hotel, not sure of the name, but it was bad....we found the Casanova Hotel Residece. Last minute and the receptionist was fantastic! She gave us a good price, 110,00 euro for the night,(low season) and just looking at the lobby, didn't have to go visit the room. It was perfect for us, would have liked to stay longer. Big room, for tuscany, Therapeutic bath, bathroom amenitites and nice creams, this is a Spa...with a nice big terrace with a great view in the morning.

The restaurant next door was closed, it was appr 9h30pm. The young lady tried to get us some food from there, but to no avail...Nice try though, thank you..However, we told her we'd dine on our wine in the room. She offers to bring us wine glasses. But when she shows up, she put together this great little plate with cold cuts, cheeses and breads. Wow, that is service.

Here are pictures of the room.

The hotel is popular with photographic tours as its location is superb for views over the Tuscany rolling hills . There are a variety of rooms some have sunny patios , best at the back of the hotel . Our room was decorated in a period style twin beds , lovely soft linen & towels , whirlpool bath with shower , bidet too . A/c easy to use . Really clean. Safe & plenty of storage space . No tea making , although some rooms have a kitchenette, but no kettle. Good sized room . Yes maybe style is a bit dated but it is in keeping & I don't like modern concrete blocks of hotels . The heated indoor pool with water jets , free to guests is a real bonus in early May when the outdoor pool was too cold . The public areas are nice, there is a bar . The breakfast room is not lit by daylight and the continental breakfast is adequate , but no fresh orange juice , no fresh hot eggs , but has a toaster for the English . Lots of cakes & types of croissants but not freshly baked . Excellent coffee machine . The walled village of San Quirico d'Orcia is a 7 min stroll . Lots of restaurants & old narrow streets to explore with a central main street & square by the church . Reception staff will book a table .

We stayed at Casanova for two nights. The hotel and staff were lovely. We had a message that was relaxing after a dip in the indoor pool. We were not given the information about the caves which I would have liked to known about.
The only negative was that the air conditioner did not seem to cool down much at all.
Sabrina shared that the time period that we stayed was much warmer than usual and tried to turn down the a/c.
The beds were comfy and the location was perfecto! What an amazing view from the outdoor pool.
