Welcoming, professional staff, gorgeous food - the perfect place to eat out. Able to completely relax and not feel rushed - lovely Sunday afternoon treat. On top of all that completely welcoming and helpful to my daughter in a wheelchair not to mention supporting us with her blended diet - have never felt so relaxed and looked after - thank...

Having arrived later than we thought from the airport,we decided to go straight to the pub for dinner and arrived 10 minutes after the kitchen had closed but the chef very kindly stayed on and prepared baked cod for us.Without doubt this was one of the tastiest cod dishes we have experienced ,the sauce was exquisite and beautifully cooked fish,this...

We went back for another birthday lunch and it was as good as ever. There were so many delicious dishes to chose from. We both had pork fillet with black pudding, stilton mash, Guinness and honey sauce, all accompanied by a big dish of five fresh vegetables. Chocolate pudding followed. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The price was very...

The food was good and staff friendly but parking is pants and the tables uncomfortable but we would still go back the food was yummy. Lots of choice on the menu and lots of games to keep everyone busy and laughing while waiting for food which wasnt long!

We often drop in for lunch and are never disappointed. The food is of a high standard and the service always comes with a smile. Everyone is welcome here, including your dog and what better place to stop off for a rest after a good walk in the country.

Comfortable interesting venue we went to for lunch. Good varied menu. Nice staff. Only drawback for me was the more people who came in for lunch the more difficulty I had having conversation with my friends as the acoustics were not great. However - overcome this (or buy a hearing aid) and all will be well. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit...

A friend and I had lunch here on a beautiful bright winter's day. It was warm and comfortable with a log fire and a traditional menu. I had the local pheasant stuffed with mushrooms, from the special's board. Served with mashed potato and cabbage it was a delicious and comforting meal. My friend had the rabbit pie (also locally sourced)....

The Giants Rest at Wilmington is one of our favourite places for lunch. This time of year there is a log fire, which adds to the warm comfortable atmosphere. A friendly welcome and good food. Be warned the portions are a good size so choose wisely. The starters/light bites are ideal for a light lunch ( the fish soup and...

Pros: good food, dog friendly, excellent atmosphere Cons: a bit pricey, "specials" menu doesn't seem to change much We seem to have been here a lot in recent months, and it is very much the dog's favourite pub because the staff make a big fuss of him (they've seen him grow from puppy into proper country hound). The food is...

All had food from the specials board. I had the duck, asked if it had vegetables with it was told it did. One tiny piece of broccoli and a cup of rice. The duck had very little meat on it. The salmon though well cooked did not have enough sauce. Deserts . were the best thing of the meal. The...
